Philly rapper Lil Uzi Vert had a pretty promising 2015, and he's set to kick off 2016 with a few shows, including his first-ever dates in NYC. The first is the sold-out Yams Day at Terminal 5 (1/18) with A$AP Rocky, A$AP Mob, Joey Bada$$, Flatbush Zombies and A$ton Matthews. Then he headlines his own show the next day at Santos Party House (1/19). Tickets for Santos are on sale now. All dates are listed below.
Early last year, Uzi hopped on DJ Carnage's posse cut "WDYW" with A$AP Ferg and Rich the Kid, and later in the year he dropped his most recent full length project, the LUV Is Rage mixtape. It's promising stuff, offering up auto-tuned trap that's at times similar to Chief Keef ("Top," which is actually even better than Keef's latest stuff), Future ("All My Chains"), and others up that alley. Young Thug aids him on "Yamborghini Dream" off that tape, and Uzi returns the favor on "Big Racks" off Thugger's Slime Season 2. If you haven't heard it yet, check out all that stuff below.
Lollapalooza returns to Chicago's Grant Park from July 31 - August 2, and this year's lineup includes Paul McCartney, Metallica, A$AP Rocky, TV on the Radio, The War on Drugs, Father John Misty, Brand New, Flying Lotus, Hot Chip, The Tallest Man on Earth, Death From Above 1979, Django Django and more. Tickets are on sale now, and single day passes go on sale at 10 AM CT.

Jamie xx w/ The xx in Austin in 2013 (more by Tim Griffin)
It was recently announced that NYC EDM festival Electric Zoo would be returning this year with drug-sniffing dogs, patdowns, plainclothes security officers, and a required anti-drug PSA after last year's festival resulted in two drug-related deaths (and one reported case of sexual assault and 31 arrests) which cancelled day 3.
Now the initial lineup has been announced and amongst all the EDM heavy hitters is The xx's Jamie xx. Other than that, it's the typical E Zoo type stuff you probably want to steer clear of like David Guetta, Zedd, Armin Van Buuren, Laidback Luke, Kaskade, Benny Benassi, Datsik, and more, plus many more TBA. They've been known to add cool stuff as the fest approaches, so stay tuned.
Electric Zoo goes down Labor Day Weekend (8/29-31) on Randall's Island. Tickets are on sale now. Full initial lineup below...

Hard to believe, but our BrooklynVegan "Blog Radio" show has been airing weekly on satellite radio for over 6.5 years. It started on Sirius which then merged with XM and became SiriusXM. The station, which was originally "Left of Center" on Sirius, is now called SiriusXMU (on SiriusXM). You can currently hear the two hour show on the "indie/college" station every Wednesday at noon EST and again at midnight that night (which is technically Thursday morning in Eastern Standard Time).
At some point years ago I brought on like-minded music lover Dominic (Nick) Masi to be my co-host, and to cover when I couldn't make it. Now, though I still may pop in occasionally (my New Year's resolution!), Nick has taken over completely, hosting the show week to week with a selection of music you'll find on BrooklynVegan.com and on his own iPod. Recently Nick also started hosting a show called "Cover Me" (all cover songs) on Bruce Springsteen's E Street Radio, and other programs on the network too.
In his spare time, Nick now tour manages members of Odd Future - a job which was an offshoot of his huge passion for hip hop (and traveling around the continent in a van).
What were Nick's favorite records and songs in 2012? We asked him and he gave us a list of his top 10 albums and "top 15 hip hop songs of the year that don't feature 2Chainz, Kanye, Drake, Rick Ross or (fill in the blank with your favorite rapper you've seen on every remix this year)."
You can check out both of Nick's lists, along with videos or streams for each song on his hip hop list (Odd Future songs included), below...
