Dillinger Escape Plan at The Studio at Webster Hall (more by Justina Villanueva)

Both Deftones and The Dillinger Escape Plan shows at Best Buy Theater (5/13 & 14) are completely sold out, but the technical hardcore band has added a headlining NYC date happening the same week. It's May 15th at Music Hall of Williamsburg. Tickets go on sale Friday at noon (4/8). Updated tour dates below.

Meanwhile, DEP vocalist Greg Puciato has revealed that he is currently working on a project with Max Cavalera (Cavalera Conspiracy, ex-Sepultura):

Just came back from Phoenix. Max Cav and myself are both in possession of fifteen songs that nobody else has. Dark.

Look for that project in the near future. Meanwhile both Cavalera Conspiracy AND Sepultura (which contains none of the Cavaleras) are headed to the NYC area. Cavalera Conspiracy will play Irving Plaza on 5/10 (tickets) and Sepultura will play Gramercy on April 25 with Bonded in Blood, Neuraxis, Keep of Kallesin, Hate, and Belphegor (tickets). Cavalera Conspiracy @ Irving Plaza = a lovefest? Seems far fetched, I know, but Sunday night (July 20, 2008) was definitely family night as NYC welcomed the Cavaleras for the last of their two night stand as brothers united, or as Roadrunner calls it, Cavalera Conspiracy. The band tore through a good portion of their new record Inflikted ("Sanctuary", "Inflikted", "Ultra Violent", among others) but also took care to play some of the old Sepultura classics ("Refuse/Resist", "Territory", "Innerself") before they left the stage at the one hour mark. Max Cavalera, even with his angry razor-shredded voice, couldn't hide his smiles on stage and even Igor Jr (Igor's son) got in on the action, playing drums for two songs before Dad came on to play the closer, "Roots Bloody Roots".

The Dillinger Escape Plan was, well, The Dillinger Escape Plan, an absolute picture-perfect example of controlled mayhem. They climbed speaker stacks to the top floor of Irving Plaza. They swung their guitars around by their straps like a lasso. They ran and jumped off of every imagineable surface. They played ridiculously technical jazz scales while thrashing around like madmen. They covered Van Halen's "Hot For Teacher"! They performed arguably one their best songs ("Sunshine The Werewolf") from the CENTER OF THE MOSH PIT. And most importantly, they didn't miss a single note. I have no idea how they do it.

Opeth has announced two new dates as part of their previously mentioned North American tour. Here is the best part (as if THAT wasn't good enough): Word is that High On Fire & Baroness will open the shows! As more dates roll in, you'll have em, but so far all we have are Chicago on September 24th and San Fran on October 6th. Pics from their last NYC show at Terminal 5 HERE.

Doomriders have announced a show at Europa in Brooklyn on August 24th! Tickets are on sale.

Doom riff lords Grand Magus will drop Iron Will on July 9th in the US via Candlelight and recently sat down with Metal Hammer to go over Iron Will track by track. Check out "Like The Oar Strikes The Water" and "Silver Into Steel" downloadable above.

Max & Igor Cavalera, Joe Duplantier & Marc Rizzo aka Cavalera Conspiracy

The press had a field day with the triumphant reunion of long separated brothers (and former bandmates) Max & Igor Cavalera in Cavalera Conspiracy, their new project featuring Joe Duplantier of Gojira and Marc Rizzo of Soulfly. It's perfectly understandishable: Sepultura post-Max (with the possible exception of Dante XXI) & Soulfly never quite lived up to the previous greatness of Sepultura, but CC seems to be their bid to take back that legacy.

A big step in that direction is their return to the stage, which has been announced in the form of a few select East Coast dates (so far) with The Dillinger Escape Plan (yay!), Throwdown (meh!), Bury Your Dead (BOOOO!), and Incite. NYC gets two nights in a row at The Fillmore East @ Irving Plaza, July 19th and July 20th. Ticket info forthcoming.

Max Cavalera has also announced that a new Soulfly album called Conquer is on the way. It's scheduled to hit the streets on July 29th.

Igor Cavalera says he "is not interested" in a Sepultura reunion.

Sepultura, or what's left of 'em anyway, are working on a new album based on Anthony Burgess's classic novel "A Clockwork Orange".

Neurot Recordings have announced details for THREE Neurosis-related releases in the next two months! First up, a new solo album from the mighty Scott Kelly, who will release The Wake on May 5th, his first release in the seven years since his debut Spirit Bound Flesh. Two weeks later, the world's most intense elementary school teacher Steve Von Till drops A Grave is a Grim Horse, his first non-Harvestman release in six years (Harvestman recently collabo'd with Fear Falls Burning). More details on A Grave Is A Grim Horse can be found here. The third we knew about, but has now gone official: A Storm Of Light's debut And We Wept the Black Ocean Within will be released on June 2nd. Read our recent interview with Josh Graham here.

Tickets for the previously mentioned second At The Gates show go on sale Thursday April 3rd at 10 AM here. Tomas Lindberg's other band, the mighty Disfear, have announced a few more dates, including another show in Brooklyn at Europa on May 22nd with Trap Them and Bloodhorse! Ticket info for Disfear at Europa isn't available, but there are still tickets for their show at the Knitting Factory. New tour dates are down below.
