This week, Antony and the Johnsons put out their new live album/film, Turning, which they made with Charles Atlas. It documents their 2006 tour and initially screened in 2011 and 2012 but is now a DVD+CD/digital release. They'll be celebrating the release by screening the Charles Atlas-directed "You Are My Sister" video every night of December in Times Square at 11:57 PM, as part of the Midnight Moment program which did the same thing with a Bjork video last year.
Turning will also screen in Brooklyn on November 21 at Atlas' Luhring Augustine gallery (25 Knickerbocker in Bushwick). "No RSVP necessary, but seating is limited."

The film, a collaboration with Charles Atlas (The Legend of Leigh Bowery), documents the pair's 2006 European "Turning" tour, which featured Antony performing alongside large-scale projections of 13 models, who individually took the stage and slowly turned on circular platforms. It includes backstage clips and interviews with each of the models, many of whom are transgendered or grappling with issues of gender and sexuality. At the premiere, Antony said he hoped Turning would unveil the essence of its subjects' humanity. [Pitchfork]
