Valient Thorr, laying waste
Valient Thorr

Valient Thorr and Red Fang cruised on through Santos Party House as part of an east coast tour on 11/17, the same day as the BrooklynVegan sponsored Dark Castle / The Atlas Moth / Wetnurse / Tiger Flowers at Union Pool (otherwise, I would have been there). Children opened the show....

Though the dates for the pair are kaput, the road warriors in Valient Thorr are moving the caravan to Europe until the end of the month, where they will play a string of shows including Speedfest with Death Angel, New Bomb Turks, Karma To Burn, GBH, US Bombs, and many others.

In other VT news, the band recently dropped a video for "Tomorrow Police", peep that, as well as a boatload of other pics from the show and tour dates for both bands below....

3 Inches of Blood. Wait, don't they use the metric system in Canada?
3IOB

If you do vocals in a band called 3 Inches of Blood and your (legal?) name is Cam Pipes, you better f'n deliver! Fortunately, Canadians 3 Inches of Blood do. Mr Pipes' powerful falsetto lays waste, and I expect the band will bring the thunder while supporting their new LP, Here Waits Thy Doom (out 9/8 via Century Media), while on tour this fall. That tour includes a show at the new Knitting Factory in Brooklyn on 10/9! Tickets are on sale and support for the show will come from Brooklyn's own Children and Pittsburghian thrashers Mantic Ritual.

The 3 Inches of Blood tour also includes a bunch of dates with In Flames including a NJ show at Starland Ballroom on 10/2 with Between The Buried & Me as well as The Faceless. Tickets are on sale.

Dig on the first track off of the new LP, "Battles and Brotherhood", downloadable above!

Mantic Ritual (playing KF w/ 3IoB) is also scheduled to play NYC in December with Marduk, Nachmystium, Merrimack, and Black Anvil. Tickets are on sale now. Check out a Merrimack track (as well as new ones from Portal, Converge, Pelican, and Mammoth Grinder) in the most recent edition of The Week In Metal.

Meanwhile, Children (also on that KF show) has another more imminent date scheduled. They will meet up with Priestess to play the 1st Annual Brooklyn Invitational Bike Show at Autumn Bowl in Greenpoint (73 West St, Brooklyn New York) on 9/19.

All tour dates below...

Saviours-a-slayin'
Saviours

Saviours and Sourvein took over Union Pool on 7/29, with an assist going out to Children. The date was one of three for Saviours in the coming weeks, including supporting The Walkmen & Dinosaur Jr, as well as Cake Shop on 7/31 where they will team up with Pollution and Bezoar.

Pics from Union Pool (is that Natalie Portman?) and tour dates are below....

Saviours

The last time we saw Bay Area badasses Saviours it was at The Charleston. This time the band has scheduled TWO NYC area shows, both with very different but kickass lineups. First up, Saviours are scheduled to take on Union Pool with Children and BV faves Sourvein on July 29th! Tickets are on sale. Then two weeks later on Aug 12th, Saviours will round out a very odd but nonetheless amazing bill with Dinosaur Jr and The Walkmen at Summerstage.

Saviours recently completed production on their follow-up to Into Abaddon, are gearing up to hit the road with Skeletonwitch and Trap Them, and are releasing a series of seven-inches. One of those tracks, "Acid Hand", is downloadable above. Full tour dates are below.

T-Roy of Sourvein's cousin, Dixie Dave of Weedeater, is hitting the road with Down & Melvins.

All dates below...

Marissa Nadler

"I have an upcoming full-length "Little Hells" which is a significant record for me in many ways." [Marissa Nadler]
TK Webb, Marissa Nadler, The Muslims and Dungen were scheduled to play the Kemado Records showase at Music Hall of Williamsburg on Friday night before midnight (10/24). Children and Cheeseburger were going on after. Zach was going to stay to see Dungen (he had somewhere else to be late), but they were running late so he only caught the first three bands. It was the only show Marissa played during CMJ (I was sad to miss it) and it was one of many for the Muslims (though they cancelled at least one - the Narnack showcase at Santos that was the next night). More pictures from Music Hall below...

FTF

Welcome to This Week In Metal, Special Potty Mouth Edition! Fuck The Facts shall rage from sea to sea as they begin "Grinding Into Cataclysm" (their tour name) with Psyopus, War From A Harlot's Mouth, and Left To Vanish. FTF have a new record, Disgorge Mexico, due July 22nd on Relapse Records and have been kind enough to bless us with some tracks for download! Check out "The Storm" and "Absence And Despite" above and check 'em out at the Knitting Factory on August 18th (ticket info forthcoming). Full tour dates are below. Fuck The Facts also have an upcoming split LP with Leng Tch'e.

Opeth has announced two new dates as part of their previously mentioned North American tour. Here is the best part (as if THAT wasn't good enough): Word is that High On Fire & Baroness will open the shows! As more dates roll in, you'll have em, but so far all we have are Chicago on September 24th and San Fran on October 6th. Pics from their last NYC show at Terminal 5 HERE.

Doomriders have announced a show at Europa in Brooklyn on August 24th! Tickets are on sale.

Doom riff lords Grand Magus will drop Iron Will on July 9th in the US via Candlelight and recently sat down with Metal Hammer to go over Iron Will track by track. Check out "Like The Oar Strikes The Water" and "Silver Into Steel" downloadable above.

RTX

Jennifer Herrema (ex-Royal Trux) has brought the sleaze back in town with her band RTX, first hitting up the Knitting Factory Tap Bar tonight (March 4th, tickets are still available) with locals Blues Control, Bogan Dust, and Polite Sleeper, and then Glasslands in Brooklyn tomorrow with Telepathe and Necking. If you're going to Knitting Factory tonight, note that Boris and Growing are also playing right upstairs.

Child Abuse will be on hand (the band, not the action) for the Glasslands show as well, reppin Lovepump United (Mookie Singerman from Genghis Tron's label). Lovepump United will also play host to their own shindig at SXSW this year with Monotonix, HEALTH, Clipd Beaks, Old Time Relijun, and Apes. Look for RTX to also make an appearance at the Tee Pee Records party with J. Mascis's band Witch (who have a great new album), the awesome Graveyard, Titan, and others. All dates below...
