Speaking of the venue BB King's, don't forget Darlene Love is doing her Christmas shows there on December 9 -10 (tickets), and Ronnie Spector is doing her Christmas party there too on December 14 (tickets).
More pics from Friday's show (including opener Chris Bergson) below...
Back by popular demand is the uber-kitschy Descendents sweater, which features the band's mascot with crossbones amidst a grid of musical notes Available in two colors, this bastion of ridiculousity is on sale now for the Milo in your family.
Similarly, Slayer, the obvious go-to for holiday merch, has a Christmas sweater of their own on sale now. Because nothing says holiday cheer like a chest full of skulls and pentagrams.
This of course isn't the first time that Slayer has been juxtaposed against the holiest of days. Check out some of our favorite videos of Christmas lights below.
Don't like Slayer or Descendents? How about a David Bowie sweater? Or a Morrissey one? Or New Kids on The Block? Check out a few different ideas at Buzzfeed.
Lets keep on, keepin' on with spreading the holiday cheer by letting everyone know that King Diamond's holiday classic "No Presents for Christmas" will see a picture disc release for the first time in 25 years. Get yours today, Black Friday at your nearest participating record store.
Deck the halls, and reign in blood.

Darlene Love @ South Street Seaport 2010 (more by Chris La Putt)
November 2012 update from The Howard Hughes Corporation:
The safety and security of our employees, tenants and customers is always our top priority, and we are grateful that no one was seriously injured at The Seaport during the storm.May the Seaport rise again, but meanwhile that means no Christmas Tree this year, or at least no tree lighting ceremony, which in 2010 included a performance by Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Darlene Love.
Hurricane Sandy caused incredible devastation to our City, and The Seaport was seriously impacted.
While we currently do not have a definitive timeline for reopening, The Howard Hughes Corporation is very committed to rebuilding the Uplands and Pier 17 as soon as possible. To that end, we are working diligently to coordinate all necessary assessment, remediation and inspection of the many buildings that make up South Street Seaport. In fact, remediation in some areas is already underway, including certain common areas. However, because of the various issues related to the Uplands and Pier 17, it will be several weeks before everything is fully evaluated by experts and a more firm timetable can be established. Some buildings at The Seaport may open sooner than others and we will share updates through our website and other channels as available.
At this time, tenants are being permitted to access their spaces to assess damage and address their own business issues. Otherwise, Pier 17 is currently closed to the public, except for essential personnel.
The Seaport is a popular and treasured destination in Lower Manhattan, and we have an exciting redevelopment plan for Pier 17 that will continue despite the storm. We are very proud of the hard work of our team and hope to be able to share more updates soon. We look forward to rebuilding and welcoming visitors and neighbors back to The Seaport as soon as possible.
Darlene Love, as always, will still be celebrating the holidays though. Her Annual Christmas Celebration at B.B. King's in NYC has gone from one to two nights of cheer. Tickets are sale for shows on December 9 and December 10. You can also catch Darlene on Letterman on 12/20 (watch the video of her appearance last year below and at NJPAC in Newark two days later. The Polyphonic Spree at Webster Hall in May (more by Toby Tenenbaum)
The Polyphonic Spree released their new Christmas album, Holidaydream: Sounds of the Holidays Volume One on October 23. Of the ten standards it features, the collective just made a video for "Winter Wonderland," and you can watch that for the first time at the bottom of this post.
The video's director Josh David Jordan writes:
"When I first heard Winter Wonderland I was really moved by the way it had a beautiful haunting beginning. I remember thinking, " What happens when Santa has had too much of the elves, the up keep of the North Pole's day to day, and turns in the cookies and milk for a glass of scotch." Lucky for me my friend Jack enjoys scotch, has Santa's snowy locks and can be easily found on the patio of the City Tavern in downtown Dallas. Jack was also the original voice of Popeye's Chicken commercials, so when I asked him to recite 'Twas the night before Christmas' intro, he didn't hesitate. Spontaneity took over for the rest of the video. I dressed my youngest as the elves, my beautiful and talented wife Jessica Jordan (who is a member of the Spree) assumed the part of the queen elf and partner in crime ( we broke into an old abandoned church for her scenes), and Tim allowed me to get up close and personal for the mouth shots. In the end, Santa just may have had one too many scotch's and will be back to the milk and cookies just in time for Christmas this year."As mentioned, the band are celebrating the album with their Holiday Extravaganza! Tour which brings them to NYC on December 15 at Webster Hall. Tickets for that show are still available.

Sam Mickens at Silent Barn in 2010 (more by Amanda Dandaneu)
Sam Mickens of The Dead Science and who also plays as a member of Parenthetical Girls released his solo debut LP, Slay & Slake, in late November. He's following that release with a split 7" with Voice on Tape, which will be out "winter 2011/2012" on Silencio Records. Sam's contribution, which is making its premiere in this post, is a track called "Dark Christmas," and it features a duet with Zac Pennington, who fronts Parenthetical Girls and also sang on Slay & Shake. The song is led by floaty atmospheres, some soft acoustic guitar, and the haunting refrain, "You're gonna love me better when I'm gone." Check it out below. Voice on Tape's contribution to the 7" is a track that features Chelsea Wolfe (who has a new video you can also watch below).
"Dark Christmas" is not to be confused with Sam Mickens' Christmas EP, A Christmas Gift to You, Zac Pennington, which came out yesterday (12/13) and is available to download (for free or as much as you want to give) and stream on bandcamp...
Sam Mickens' newly-out-of-the-vault EP "A Christmas Gift To You, Zac Pennington" was recorded and mixed in one night in Dec. 2010 in the spirit of purest friendship, a private record made for one friend by another. Wrapping up(nearly!) a very prolific year for Mickens, which has seen the release of the Sinistra Secco EP, two singles with his Brooklyn massive the Ecstatic Showband & Revue, and his debut full-length Slay & Slake, this Christmas EP sets down our flight in a nestling snow bank. Have at ye merry gentlemen!----
Perfume Genius - Put Your Back N 2 It

Neil Diamond at Acheron, er, MSG (more by Eric Townsend)
True story. I was thumbing through a distro at a recent crust/hardcore show and somewhere in between a copy of an Assault 7" on HG Fact and a Grudges tape, I encountered a copy of The Jazz Singer. I almost bought it out of principle.
I'm guessing that appearance of Neil Diamond's soundtrack is an anomoly, but maybe he'll encounter a whole new breed of fan when he hits the road for a string of dates this summer. The dates include a stop at Jones Beach Theater on 6/8. Tickets are currently on Livenation presale, and go on regular sale at noon on 12/5. The full list of show is below, none of which probably feature an opening set from Amebix.
Neil recently made two special holiday appearances in NYC. He was in the Thanksgiving Day Parade and at the lighting of the Rockefeller Center christmas tree. Videos of both are also below...

Like Darlene Love did last year (and Arlo Guthrie will do tonight at Lincoln Square), Ronnie Spector helped light a christmas tree at South Street Seaport on Friday. Pictures and videos from the holiday event continue below...
Robert Franklin as Santa @ South Street Seaport last year (more by Chris La Putt)
The South Street Seaport will ring in the holiday spirit on Friday, November 25th when the 28th Annual Seaport Chorus Tree Lighting Spectacular lights up the cobblestone streets of the Seaport's Historic District.Last year's celebration included an appearance by Darlene Love. Last year was also sadly the last for Santa Robert Franklin. The 85 year old Santa, who was the Seaport mall's Santa every year since 1989, passed away at the age of 85 earlier this year. RIP Robert.
TODAY Show personality and fashion expert Jill Martin will host one of New York City's most beloved holiday traditions, with a 40-foot tree serving as the centerpiece of a seven-minute "Sparkle at the Seaport" light show spectacular. Festivities will kick-off with performances by the Darren Wallis Jazz Trio and the Soul Tigers Marching Band. All-male barbershop chorus, The Big Apple Chorus, will perform seasonal favorites, and costumed characters will help Santa Claus countdown to the tree lighting ceremony. To round-off the evening, Ronnie Spector will give a special performance, making it a night to remember for the whole family.
This year the beloved tradition of twenty five years continues at the new Cutting Room located at 44 west 32nd street in Manhattan.Ronnie will also be at the Mohegan Sun on 12/23 and at The Proctors Theatre in Schenectady, NY on 3/24/2012.
You can expect all the big Christmas hits-and Ronnie has the largest catalog of Christmas classics of any recording artist including 'Sleigh Ride' (#3 past decade) and 'Frosty the Snowman' (#17 past decade) along with her Ronette hits and cult classics. But what makes Ronnie's Christmas Party so special and endearing is her off-the-cuff patter and her childhood remembrances of Christmas and Santa in New York .
As the New York Times observed, "It's hard to think of a more appealing angel to welcome the holiday season than Ms. Spector."
