As discussed, Gainesville's The Fest is returning this year from October 31 to November 3, and they've just expanded their lineup to include more artists. Additions includes post-hardcore/screamo giants Circle Takes The Square, who have been reunited for a bit but still only rarely play US shows; Geoff Rickly's United Nations, who are also back, but have not been as active as Geoff's solo project; punk vets ALL; Titus Andronicus (who have multiple NYC-area appearances coming up); Fake Problems and more.
Those recent additions join previously announced names like Torche, White Lung, Bouncing Souls, Ceremony, Braid, Paint It Black, Samiam, Knapsack (reunion), The Draft (reunion), The Menzingers, The Lawrence Arms, Hop Along, Code Orange Kids, Creative Adult, Pity Sex, Mean Jeans, Retox, Lemuria, Greys, Tenement, Tim Barry, Toys That Kill, The Night Marchers and more. Tickets for The Fest are on sale now.
Circle Takes The Square returned in December, 2012 with Decompositions Volume Number One, their first album of new material since reuniting and second overall. It's not the instant masterpiece that their 2004 debut, As the Roots Undo, is, but it's still damn good. Download it in its entirety at bandcamp (name your price) or stream it in its entirety, along with the updated The Fest lineup, below.

Riverboat Gamblers on a Rocks Off Cruise - 10/13/2012
Riverboat Gamblers are currently touring their way to Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin. Their trek began back on 10/12 in Asbury Park and continued from there to a Rocks Off Concert Cruise where they sailed around Manhattan with Cobra Skulls, Freshkills, and fans. More pictures from that NYC show below...
Riverboat Gamblers, airborne
Riverboat Gamblers' The Wolf You Feed hit earlier this year, but the band saved a music video for release until just a few days ago, which made its premiere on BV Austin. Check out "Eviction Notice" from the LP below.
The Texas band (good friends with Peelander-Z who also play tonight) is currently on the road with Cobra Skulls and Freshkills, and ripping up the Northeast, hitting Asbury Lanes in Asbury Park tonight (10/12) and a Rocks Off Concert Concert Cruise on Saturday (10/13). Feeling a bit too frugal for the $10 door price for Riverboat Gamblers on the river? We have two pairs of tickets available for giveaway for the cruise show. Details, dates and video below...
As mentioned, Teengirl Fantasy's new album, Tracer, was released this week (stream it) -- maybe you saw them at East River Park on Monday -- and the band will play a release party on Thursday (8/23) aboard the Rocks Off Concert Cruise with their True Panther labelmates Lemonade, DJ Mike Q and Massacooramaan along for the ride. Since we last spoke, Kelela, who sings lead vocals on TF's killer single, "EFX", has been added to the bill. Tickets are still available but if you'd like to go for free, we have a few pairs to give away.
While we're on the subject of boats, Big Freedia will shake things up on a Rocks Off Cruise as well on August 29 and, as mentioned previously, LE1f (who recently played Glasslands and PS1 Warm-up) has just been added to the bill. Tickets are still available and we have pairs to give away as well.
Both those shows are aboard The Harbor Lights which departs from East 23rd / FDR. Details on how to enter for both Rocks Off shows are below but please note these shows are 21+. We're also giving away tickets to the Teengirl Fantasy show on Facebook.
Other interesting Rocks Off shows coming up include '90s-era glam rockers Spacehog with Endless Boogie (who play Summerscreen tonight [8/22] with Daniel Higgs and Highlife) aboard The Jewel on Saturday 8/25 (tix); and Riverboat Gamblers, Cobra Skulls, and Fresh Kills aboard The Jewel on October 13 (tix).
As previously mentioned, Lagwagon plays a Fat Wreck Chords Rocks Off Cruise on October 20 with Dead to Me and others (tickets). Bonobo and Gibby Hanes also DJ a Rocks Off cruise on September 21 (tickets).
Contest details and a list of all Teengirl Fantasy dates are below...
The Fest is back for round 11 (!) adding bands from across the spectrum of punk rock for the multi-day Gainesville, Florida extravaganza. The Fest announced its initial lineup earlier this month but has doubled that number, bringing the total tally to a whopping 217, and there are more to go! The lineup includes Lagwagon, Naked Raygun, Baroness, Red Fang, Off with Their Heads, Torche, Valient Thorr, 7 Seconds, F.Y.P., Braid, Titus Andronicus, Toys That Kill, Underground Railroad to Candyland, Frank Turner and many more (see below). Tickets are now on sale (and sold out quick last year).
Full lineup is below, expect to see some surprises at The Fest as well; Sleepytime Trio reunited there last year.

Much like The Hold Steady, Against Me or The Gaslight Anthem, Richmond's Smoke or Fire revel in the hard-rockin' melodicism of Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, and Americana that isn't readily apparent in "punk". Its a tough line to walk but they do it well, while sawing out driving punk that wouldn't feel that out of place in their bassist Gwomper's former project, Avail.
Smoke or Fire will welcome their new LP The Speakeasy on November 9th, via Fat Wreck Chords. The Speakeasy marks new territory for the crew; new drummer Ryan Parrish of Darkest Hour was recently welcomed into the fold (a seat that was once held by Dave of From Ashes Rise) and the LP marks Gwomper's writing/recording debut with Joe McMahon & crew. Check out the new track "Neon Light" available above.
Smoke or Fire will appear with Flatiners and Cobra Skulls twice in NYC for CMJ, and on the same day (10/23). Generation Records will host the trio of bands at 2PM, and later they'll all play the sold-out Fat Wreck Chords CMJ Showcase at Music Hall of Williamsburg with Me First & The Gimme Gimmes, None More Black, and Dead To Me. Full tour dates, show flyer, and some video of Smoke or Fire is below.
Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, None More Black, Teenage Bottlerocket, Smoke or Fire, Dead To Me, The Flatliners, and Cobra Skulls are playing the Fat Wreck Chords CMJ showcase at Music Hall of Williamsburg on October 23rd. Tickets are on sale at noon.
Tickets are no longer going on sale at noon for the Rogue Wave / Midlake show at Webster Hall. Stay tuned for more info.
The Matador 21 Fest, Devendra Banhart, Of Montreal, Scissor Sisters, Ratatat & other tickets went on sale at noon too.
