Phosphorescent @ Prospect Park - June 2009 (more by Tim Griffin)
Phosphorescent

Phosphorescent (typically Matthew Houck and band) will play a solo (and probably short, but unique) set at this month's Happy Ending Music and Reading series at Joe's Pub (Wednesday, March 3rd) with writers Benjamin Anastas, Melissa Febos, Lucy Corin and host Amanda Stern. Tickets are on sale.

Phosphorescent goes on tour with UK piano crooner... David Gray this March & April. Their April 1st show at NJ's Wellmont Theatre is sold out.

Luckily, Phosphorescent play a show of their own at Maxwell's on Friday, April 2nd. Tickets are still on sale.

There's a new Phosphorescent record on the way: Here's to Taking It Easy (subtitle Tho The Jaws Of This World Wish Only To Grab Hold Of Your Sweet Ass) comes out May 11th on Dead Oceans.

Featuring the current live incarnation of Phosphorescent (Scott Stapleton, piano; Jeff Bailey, bass; Chris Marine, drums; Jesse Anderson Ainslie, guitar; Ricky Ray Jackson, pedal steel), Here's to Taking It Easy is the new Cosmic American Music. Recorded in the band's hometown of Brooklyn with outside mixing assistance from Stuart Sikes (White Stripes, Cat Power, Loretta Lynn, the Walkmen), this album breathes with life like nothing Phosphorescent has ever done before.
The album's honky-tonk lead song is above. All tour dates and album info & art are below...
