Phosphorescent at Bonnaroo 2011 (more by Graeme Flegenheimer)
Phosphorescent

As mentioned, Newport Folk Festival is returning this year to Fort Adams State Park from July 26 to 28, and since we last spoke, the lineup has been revealed. This year's fest includes Beck, The Avett Brothers, Feist, Jim James, Colin Meloy, Andrew Bird, The Mountain Goats (who just announced a tour), Father John Misty, Bonnie 'Prince' Billy & Dawn McCarthy, Justin Townes Earle, Felice Brothers, Jason Isbell, Amanda Palmer, Phosphorescent, Beth Orton, John McCauley, Michael Kiwanuka, Lord Huron, Frank Turner, Black Prairie, Langhorne Slim, TIft Merritt, Spirit Family Reunion, Blake Mills, Houndmouth, Cold Specks, and others, plus more TBA.

Hope you acted quick back in January. 3-Day passes and 2-day passes are sold out, as are single day tickets for Saturday and Sunday, but you can still get single day tickets for Friday.

Speaking of the Rough Trade-signed, Lumineers-like Houndmouth, you have two chances to catch them in NYC this week before they become as big as the Lumineers. They're at Mercury Lounge on Wednesday (4/10) and Rockwood Music Hall on Thursday (4/11).

What the Brothers Sang

As mentioned, Bonnie 'Prince' Billy teamed up with past collaborator Dawn McCarthy (of Faun Fables) for an album of Everly Brothers covers, What the Brothers Sang, which is out now on Drag City. A "behind the scenes" video of that album is below.

Bonnie and Dawn are supporting that album with a tour this summer surrounding Newport Folk Festival which hits NYC on July 29 at Town Hall. That show and a few others will be supported by The Murphy Beds. Tickets go on sale Friday (3/29) at noon.

All dates are listed, along with that video, below...

Christmas Eve Can Kill You

Bonnie 'Prince' Billy (aka Will Oldham) released his first ever holiday release this week (11/20) with past collaborator Dawn McCarthy (of Faun Fables), the "Christmas Eve Can Kill You"/"Walking the Dog" single. The songs were recorded in Nashville with Emmett Kelly, Dave Roe, Kenny Malone, Billy Contreras, David Ferguson (who also recorded the tracks) and Matt Sweeney. Will's brother Paul mastered the tracks. You can check out the video for the a-side below and order the single in 7" viny and digital formats at the Drag City webstore.

WIll and Dawn also have a full length record of Everly Brothers covers, What the Brothers Sang, on February 9 via Drag City.

Bonnie 'Prince' Billy also has some dates coming up in 2013, including the previously discussed NYC show at Lincoln Center on February 7, which is part of the American Songbook 2013 Season. Tickets for that show are still available.

A list of all dates and that video, below.
