Squarepusher is coming to the NYC-area for Camp Bisco, which goes down this year from July 11 to 13 at the Indian Lookout Country Club in Mariaville, NY with Passion Pit, Animal Collective, Toro y Moi, El-P & Killer Mike, Baauer, Ryan Hemsworth, Dan Deacon, Danny Brown, and more. Right before that though, Squarepusher will play his own show in NYC at Le Poisson Rouge on July 9. It's a much more intimate show than his 2012 show at Terminal 5, and tickets for it go on sale Friday (5/3) at 10 AM with a LPR member presale starting Thursday (5/2) at 10 AM.
Tickets for Camp Bisco are still available. Updated lineup, a list of upcoming Squarepusher (mostly festival) dates, and the video for "Dark Steering" from his 2012 LP, Ufabulum, below...

Passion Pit at MSG earlier this month (more by Dominick Mastrangelo)

Camp Bisco is known for a long history of booking jam bands and dance music, but has branched out in recent years. This year's lineup has an especially interesting slew of non-jam. The festival goes down from July 11 to 13 at the Indian Lookout Country Club in Mariaville, NY and features Passion Pit, Animal Collective, Toro y Moi, El-P, Killer Mike, Baauer, Dan Deacon, Com Truise, Ryan Hemsworth, Flosstradamus, Bear Mountain, Free Energy, RL Grime, VHS or Beta, and others, including of course The Disco Biscuits, who run the festival.
Camp Bisco happens about a month after Passion Pit and Animal Collective both play Bonnaroo in Tennessee, Passion Pit plays Firefly in Delaware, and AnCo plays Governors Ball in NYC.
3-Day general admission passes for Camp Bisco are on sale now. Full lineup below...

Blood Red Shoes @ MHOW

After Chris left the BV Loft Party all the way back on Friday, October 22nd, he headed over to Music Hall of Williamsburg for the Blue Flowers-presented CMJ showcase for a lineup of mostly UK bands including Chapel Club, Everything Everything, and Blood Red Shoes (who toured North America with Sky Larkin in October). Pictures from that show are in this post.
The occasion (to post these belated pics)? SXSW has already announced an initial lineup of bands playing in Austin from March 16-20, 2011, and Chapel Club is on that list (and I wouldn't be surprised of the other 2 mentioned bands end up coming too). Also on the list: Lia Ices, Braids, Asobi Seksu, Wye Oak, Suuns, Sun Airway, A Place to Bury Strangers and more. Full list under the rest of the MHOW pictures, below...

MALUCA

Last week in dance was not my favorite. I enjoyed Losoul's set at Sunday Best, and the urban landscape "Afterparty" at Warm Up at PS1 (though not the music so much) . More about both of those in Part 2 of the Week In Dance. For now, here's what's happening Thursday & Friday:

DOWNLOAD: Little Boots - Stuck on Repeat (Fake Blood Remix) (MP3)
DOWNLOAD: Little Boots - Computer Fairyland Mixtape (MP3)

This summer you couldn't read an electronic music blog without coming across Little Boots (aka Victoria of Dead Disco). I first became familiar with her music through Fake Blood's excellent remix of her track, "Stuck On Repeat". Having only heard his version in which the vocals are very sparse, I was very surprised at how much she sings in the original versions of her tracks. Good stuff - which is saying a lot because - 1. I am really weird when it comes to vocals in electronic music, and 2. I [Showtrotta] really like very, very few female vocalists. Here's a video of her singing "Stuck on Repeat" while she plays the Tenori-on:
All the Hot Chip fans might be interested to know that Joe Goddard from Hot Chip (and Greg Kurstin from The Bird And The Bee) is producing her record.
Download three tracks above, one of which is Little Boots' free Computer Fairyland mixtape. The tracklisting for that is below. Also below: the dates and times of the four live sets, and the three DJ sets, Little Boots is playing in NYC during CMJ week...
