Ty Dolla $ign

Ty Dolla $ign's much-anticipated official debut album Free TC is finally out today (via Taylor Gang / Pu$haz Ink / Atlantic). The guest list is stacked, with modern rap (Kendrick Lamar, Future, Fetty Wap, Rae Sremmurd, YG), veteran R&B (R. Kelly, Brandy, Babyface), rap moguls (Kanye West and Puff Daddy -- on the same song), and weird outliers like E-40. The veteran R&B guests make a ton of sense; Ty's biggest song to date ("Paranoid") is over a DJ Mustard beat, and there are two here, but a chunk of this album actually sounds like the kind of R&B that was popular 15-20 years ago. The acoustic guitars on the Babyface collaboration "Solid" make it sound like a radio hit from no later than 2002, the same could be said for the clean electric guitars of "Horses In The Stable," and the slow jams of "Straight Up" fit in more with those guests than Ty's contemporaries (like say, The Weeknd or Miguel).

It's not all nostalgia though. The Metro Boomin-produced Trey Songz collab "Know Ya," the Future & Rae Sremmurd collab "Blase," and the Fetty Wap collab "When I See Ya" sound entirely of the moment. And as if you expected any less, Kendrick's show-stealing verse on "LA" (the first song on the record) continues to prove that he just cannot be stopped. There's a lot to unpack on this 16-song, 73-minute album, and now you can do just that by listening below.

Schoolboy Q at Prospect Park in 2012 (more by Chris La Putt)
Schoolboy Q

Ridiculously prolific west coast rapper E-40 just dropped a new track, "All My Niggas," and it features his typically rapid fast flow joined by two of the best of-the-moment rappers, Danny Brown and Schoolboy Q. Check out the new song (via Stereogum) below).

As discussed, Schoolboy Q will be in NYC this weekend to open for Odd Future at their big outdoor Williamsburg Park show on Saturday (7/20). That show also includes Meek Mill, who just played the Mac Miller, Chance the Rapper, The Internet, Vince Staples show in NJ (but not the Hammerstein one), Queens crew World's Fair, and legendary DJ Funkmaster Flex. Tickets for Saturday's show are still available. Rain or shine.

In related news, Odd Future's Tyler, the Creator will be going on a tour later this year with Kid Cudi and Big Sean. That tour doesn't include any NYC-area dates, but all three rappers will hit the area in October for Rock the Bells. 2-day passes for Rock the Bells are still available. Logic, who does not play Rock the Bells, is also on that tour.

All Tyler dates are listed, along with the E-40 song, below...

Rock the Bells 2013

Happy 10th anniversary to Rock the Bells, who have announced their initial, rotating 2013 lineup featuring hosts Peter Rosenberg & MURS 3:16, as well as names like Bone Thugs N Harmony, Danny Brown, Black Hippy (who just played NYC), Common, E40 & Too Short, Earl Sweatshirt (ditto), Flatbush Zombies, Juicy J (who played a Fader show on Monday and Irving Plaza last night), Rakim, Wu-Tang Clan (who play Summer Jam soon), Tyler the Creator (who just announced an NYC show as part of Odd Future), Eazy E, Ol Dirty Bastard and more. Confused? Yes, I did just say Eazy E and Ol Dirty Bastard, both of which will be "virtual performances" as part of the travelling festival. AllHipHop reports:

Ol Dirty Bastard and Eazy-E's spirits will return to the stage at Rock The Bells this year, AllHipHop has learned.

The pair of Hip-Hop legends will have holograms performing this year at the 10-year anniversary of the rap festival.

Eazy-E will perform virtually with Bone Thugs-In-Harmony and ODB will rock with Wu Tang. Organizers said Eazy never blessed the Rock The Bells stage and ODB only did once.

Also, the "holograms" are approved by Eazy-E's wife Tomica Wright and Ol Dirty's mother, Cherry Jones.

Tupac's Coachella appearance inspired the new virtual performances at Rock The Bells, organizers admitted.

So far only four dates exist for Rock the Bells. They're all listed below. Two of them are on the East Coast and one is in the NYC area at Meadowlands Racetrack in Rutherford, NJ on October 4-5. Tickets go on presale Thursday (10/16) at noon, and regular sale on Saturday.

Initial lineup (at least 15 more artists TBA), dates and some video below.
