"People don't mean any harm,'' the Antlers singer said from Brooklyn in a recent phone interview. "But they'll ask, 'Is the song 'Bear' about abortion?' before they even say hello. Whoa, what? It's like going up to a stranger and asking how their mom died. I don't know how I feel about it.''

But you can't blame fans for feeling close enough to the heartbroken narrator of the band's breakout record, "Hospice,'' to ask for details. The lo-fi concept album, centered on a terminally ill patient and her caregiver, is intimate and haunting. The 10 tracks deal with loss, death, guilt, and even Sylvia Plath ("Sylvia, get your head out of the oven / Go back to screaming and cursing, remind me again how everyone betrayed you.'') The stuff of nightmares, really.

"Hospice,'' self-released by Silberman last March, garnered serious buzz and ended up on several best-of-2009 lists. Venerable indie label Frenchkiss Records re-released the album in August. The Antlers headlined a sold-out show at the Bowery Ballroom in December and are on a tour with Editors.... [Boston Globe]

That tour brought the two bands to Terminal 5 on Friday night (2/19). Pictures and setlists from that show are in this post. Editors were supporting their new album, out now in the U.S. on the Fader label. The tour ended last night (2/21) at 9:30 Club in DC. The tour started right after The Antlers played BAM with Ra Ra Riot which wasn't long after the Antlers played a Haiti benefit at City Winery with Patti Smith.

Coming up for The Antlers: a tour of Europe, a headlining tour with Phantogram, an opening slot on The National's upcoming dates (including Radio City Music Hall, but not Prospect Park), and... the BrooklynVegan day show at Club DeVille in Austin on Friday, March 19th with Lucero and more bands TBA. They then play the Frenchkiss & Mom+Pop official SXSW showcase at Galaxy Room (formerly Radio Room & Borboun Rocks) that same night (with Freelance Whales, Local Natives, An Horse, Suckers, and Les Savy Fav).

The Antlers @ MHOW (more by Tim Griffin)

As just posted, The Antlers are playing a show with Ra Ra Riot at BAM in February. That comes after their headlining gig at Bowery Ballroom, which is now sold out.

Shortly after the BAM show, strangely?, the band is going out on tour with Editors. Editors tour North America from February 5-21. The Antlers join them on the 8th. That means they open the Terminal 5 show on the 19th which just went on on presale.

The Antlers played the BV showcase @ MHOW in October. NYC Taper has the audio from that show. All dates below...

"After two years away, Editors are returning to the US for a headlining North American tour this February in support of their new album In This Light And On This Evening. The album, which is out stateside via FADER Label January 19th 2010, debuted #1 on the charts the week of release in the UK this past October and charted in the Top 10 throughout the rest of Europe."

Editors kick off the tour in Seattle on February 6th and end in Washington DC on the 21st. The NYC show is February 19th at Terminal 5. Tickets for the whole tour go on sale 12/12. All dates and the video for their first UK single off the new album, below...

"Thom Yorke and Flea's new supergroup will play a Radiohead song at their upcoming debut gigs in Los Angeles., it's been revealed.

The as-yet-unnamed band's drummer Mauro Refosco told Brazilian website Abril.com they will play Thom Yorke's 'The Eraser' album in its entirety, four new songs and one Radiohead track at the shows on Sunday and Monday (October 4 & 5).

It's rumoured the band will air Thom Yorke's song he wrote for the Twilight New Moon soundtrack, 'Hearing Damage', as one of the "new" songs." [gigwise]

LA Weekly is also reporting that their might be a secret Thom Yorke show at the Echoplex this Friday night, October 2.

The new Twilight soundtrack, as you may have heard, also includes tracks by many familiar names including Death Cab For Cutie, Muse, Sea Wolf, Grizzly Bear & Beach House's Victoria Legrand, Bon Iver & St. Vincent, and Editors...

Speaking exclusively to Gigwise, Editors frontman Tom Smith said: "The films aren't aimed at people our age but I look at the bands that we're next to on that soundtrack and it's just a good thing.

"It's not selling out, it's not putting your song on an advert or selling a product.

"It's just being part of something that, to me, as collective seems like a pretty attractive thing."

New Moon is the second instalment of the vampire franchise, which stars British actor Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.

Brooklyn/Massachusetts-based trio Mobius Band is not unfamiliar with the EP format. They produced four separate EP's before their first LP, "The Loving Sounds of Static," was released in 2005. Now, on the heels of the bands sophomore LP "Heaven" comes a new twist on an old theme - a free covers EP of love songs recorded in Massachusetts, and just in time for you and your sweetie (or perhaps your ex) to celebrate Valentine's Day.

Editors (now with hair) @ Glastonbury 2007 (CRED)

EDITORS ' new album 'An End Has A Start' is out today in the UK on Kitchenware/Sony BMG, and comes out in the US on July 17th on Epic/FADER Label/Kitchenware. This past weekend the band played Glastonbury, and in September they'll tour the U.S. again.

Tickets go on presale this Tuesday @ 10am. The show in NYC is at Webster Hall on September 7th. All tour dates below....
