Emilie Simon @ Joe's Pub

Emilie Simon is a big star in France. She played Joe's Pub in NYC back on November 13, 2006. I went, but forgot to post about it until now - so, finally, here are the pictures.

El Perro Del Mar was the opener (I did post those already).

The show was good, but a little messed up because Emilie's backing band got stuck at the airport or something. They showed up at the very end, and I think it would have been a better show if that didn't happen. Regardless, the very French crowd loved every second of it, and it turned out OK.

Emilie is back in NYC on April 22nd - back at Joe's Pub even - for a very special event:

In celebration of Earth Day, Emilie Simon, the young French music sensation who composed the critically acclaimed motion picture soundtrack for the original worldwide (except for the U.S. and U.K.) release of La Marche De L’Empereur ("The March of The Penguins"), performs rare solo sets before and after a screening of the film (in English) featuring her original score. The much anticipated release of this soundtrack, March of the Empress, is slated for April 3rd.
