Eminem at Manhattan Center - 8/9/12 (via Indigo Clarke)
Eminem

New Brooklyn venue The Well opened last month with a Cam'ron, Flatbush Zombies, Asaad & Reese show (7/14) and the venue's second show will be tonight (8/10), after Os Mutantes cancelled their 7/28 show at the venue. Tonight's show is with Slaughterhouse, Freeway, LAD & Willie the Kid, J the S, Da Circle, and special guest Pharaohe Monch. Tickets for tonight's show are still available and we've also got a pair to give away! Details on how to enter are below.

Rumors are flying that there will be a few guests showing up at tonight's show. One of those possible guests is Beanie Sigel and there is talk that Slaughterhouse's boss at Shady Records (aka Eminem) might show up too. If that sounds like a stretch, it should be noted that Eminem performed in NYC last night (8/9) as part of Casio's G-Shock 30th anniversary at Manhattan Center, which Slaughterhouse was also at. XXL Mag was at the show and they write:

With a live band setting the mood and clips from some of his iconic music videos playing on the big screen behind him, Em had the crowd in the palm of his hand and he proceeded to give them what they wanted.

The masterful Detroit rhyme slinger ripped into classics such as "My name Is," "The Real Slim Shady," "Cleaning Out My Closet" and "Love the Way You Lie," dedicating the "Lie" to the ladies in the audience.

UPDATE: Due to a neighborhood flood watch, this show has been rescheduled to happen on September 8. Tickets purchased for tonight's show will be honored, as will the winner of the pair of we are giving away in this post.

Videos of Eminem at last night's show are below. Also below is a video of Slaughterhouse discussing tonight's show at The Well and the contest details.

Lollapalooza last year (more by Josh Darr)
Lollaplaooza

Lollapalooza celebrates its 20th anniversary this year with some huge names on its just-announced lineup. See it in full below.

The festival has obviously changed over the years. What started out as a farewell tour for Jane's Addiction with a 'touring festival' lineup that included the Rollins Band, Nine Inch Nails, Butthole Surfers, and Souxsie & The Banshees, has turned into a one-weekend Chicago festival that Lady Gaga co-headlined last year. As leaked a while ago, Foo Fighters, Muse and Eminem all play this year, as will Coldplay, Cee Lo Green, and My Morning Jacket along with the reunited Cars and the continuing-to-be-reunited Big Audio Dynamite and Death From Above 1979, and a bunch of other bands which may or may not be worth the ticket price depending on how you feel about the headliners and generally seeing bands in big, hot, outdoor crowded parks (Lollapalooza happens in Chicago's Grant Park from August 5th - 7th).

Full 2011 Lineup and a couple of videos (one from 1991, one from 2010), below...

Bonnaroo

Bonnaroo (June 9-12 in Manchester Tennessee) has announced the 2011 lineup (slightly early), and like the rumored Lollapalooza lineup, Eminem is among the headliners. Bonnaroo also has Grammy winners Arcade Fire and the Black Keys, in addition to Lil Wayne, Mumford & Sons, the Strokes, The Decemberists, Florence & the Machine, Girl Talk, Beirut (haven't seen them in a while), and many more. Full list below...

Nirvana

Like he did on stage in California in December (they played "Marigold"), Dave Grohl is bringing together the surviving members of Nirvana for the seventh Foo Fighters album, due out April 12. Produced by Butch Vig, who produced Nirvana's breakout album Nevermind, Grohl has chosen to record the entire album in his garage on entirely analog equipment. He has also confirmed that Nirvana's touring guitarist Pat Smear is again a full time member of Foo Fighters and has recorded on every track on the new album. But most importantly, Nirvana bassist Krist Noveselic recorded bass and accordian for the track "I Should Have Known." Butch Vig talked to MTV News about the recording:

"We had Krist Novoselic come in and play bass [on the song], and I'm not exactly sure what the song's about, but to me, it seems there's definitely some references about Kurt Cobain, and it's one of the most primal, raw things the Foo Fighters have ever done, and I think it's one of the best tracks on the record," Vig said. "It's distorted and raw, and Dave, the take on the vocals is like the first take he did at the end of the song. He's just blowing his lungs out. ... We played the record for some people yesterday, and the whole record is great, but that song, God, it's quite an emotional roller-coaster ride when you hear it."
The album also features guest vocals from Bob Mould of Husker Du. You can listen to snippets at FooFighers.FM.

The Foo Fighters are also planning a documentary spanning Dave Grohl's career from his time as the drummer of Nirvana through The Foo Fighters' 16 year career. The film also includes in-depth footage regarding the release of the new album. The film will be making its premiere at the SXSW Film Festival, and the band is rumored to be performing at SXSW, as are Queens of the Stone Age and the Strokes (all rumors at this point).

Other festivals Foo Fighters will appear at include the recently announced Sasquatch Festival, Hang Out Fest in Alabama, and according to Greg Kot, Lollapalooza along with Eminem and Muse.

In other Dave Grohl related news, on Wednesday, Matador Press tweeted an illustrated letter from a 15-year old Dave Grohl to Seattle band Aerobic Death about a compilation tape in 1984. That letter and all tour dates below...

Super Bowl XLV (45): Dallas Cowboys vs...oh wait....The Green Bay Packers vs the Pittsburgh Steelers in Dallas' brand new, state of the art, big ass stadium. The Packers won, bringing the Lombardi Trophy back to small town America and less sales back to Wiz Khalifa. I wonder if Jerry Jones was faking all of those smiles? Enough of the sports talk. This feature is the return of the long lost "Week In Music Licensing" post.

The real winner tonight - Detroit. A town that has been down on its luck, due for something inspiring to happen. Well here you go. Laura R. Charron tweeted that "#Detroit area agrees that #Chrysler200 had THE BEST commercial." Decide for yourself:

Tron

"What do you get when you put The Dude and Slim Shady in the same room?

We'll find out Saturday night when Jeff Bridges and rapper Eminem serve as host and musical guest, respectively, on this week's Saturday Night Live.

Bridges is promoting his latest movie, 'Tron: Legacy' while Eminem will perform songs from his newest album, 'Recovery.'...Eminem is slated to perform 'No Love' along with rapper Lil Wayne." [Mass Live]

Lil Wayne is also playing somewhere with Nicki Minaj "outdoors in New York City" today, 12/16, at 6:30pm for "500 fans to be a part of a Special NBC New Year's Eve taping." (thx John).

Tonight (at midnight aka Friday) is also the night that the Daft Punk-scored Tron: Legacy opens in theaters.

Arcade Fire

And the nominees for "Album of the Year" are:

* The Suburbs by Arcade Fire
* Recovery by Eminem
* Need You Now by Lady Antebellum
* The Fame Monster by Lady Gaga
* Teenage Dream by Katy Perry
Crazy.

Also funny: Mumford & Sons are up for Best New Artist against Justin Bieber (and Drake, Florence & The Machine, and Esperanza Spalding)

Robyn is up for Best Dance Recording against Lady Gaga (and Goldfrapp, La Roux, and Rihanna).

Arcade Fire are also nominated for Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals against Muse, Kings of Leon, The Black Keys, and... Jeff Beck & Joss Stone.

The Black Keys also landed in the "Best Rock Instrumental Performance" along with... Dave Matthews.

The Black Keys and Mumford & Sons and Kings of Leon and Muse are also all in the "Best Rock Song" category.

"Best Alternative Album" category:

* The Suburbs by Arcade Fire
* Infinite Arms by Band Of Horses
* Brothers by The Black Keys
* Broken Bells by Broken Bells
* Contra by Vampire Weekend
So they give that to Arcade Fire, since Lady Gaga will probably get Album of the Year, or maybe Arcade Fire will just get screwed and they'll give it to someone on a major.

Other names that got nominated: Cee-Lo, Janelle Monae, Big Boi, John Legend & The Roots, Jay-Z, Darcy James Argue's Secret Society, Flight of the Conchords, Devendra Banhart (for "Best Recording Package"), Oh No Ono (ditto), Anais Mitchell (ditto), Danger Mouse, Gorillaz, and Carol Burnett. Full list at the Grammys site.

Jay-Z & Chris Martin on stage @ Yankee Stadium
Jay-Z & Chris Martin

Jay-Z and Eminem tore down Yankee Stadium last night (9/13), the first of TWO shows that the pair of MCs will play in the Bronx. And there were guests... Kanye was present. Chris Martin of Coldplay dropped in. Beyonce had her say. Dr Dre was there. 50 Cent too. Not to mention Drake, Nicky Minaj, D12, B.O.B, Swizz Beatz, Lloyd Banks, and many others.

"The concert lasted well past midnight, and a few thousand in the crowd started to make their way to the exits while Jay-Z was still rapping to beat the after-concert rush. But most stayed behind, sensing what Jay-Z told them. ''This is historic: They ain't never gonna be another night like tonight.''

Well, maybe one more night -- the pair has another show at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday." [NY Times]

After the show, Jigga, Mrs Hova, and guests headed down to the 40/40 Club for a nightcap.

The madness continues tonight (9/14) at Yankee Stadium. A bunch of videos and both setlists (with guests listed) from last night, below...

After the city denied Jay-Z and Eminem from performing on the marquee of the Ed Sullivan Theater, they just moved their Letterman taping to the roof of the building. The above pictures were taken earlier this evening, Monday, June 21st. The mini-concert will air on Letterman on Friday night.

And as I type this, Red Bull is hosting an event in Bowery Ballroom named "Red Bull Emsee: The Road to 8 Mile". Not surprisingly (based on that event name, their promise of "Special Guest Performances", and Eminem's location earlier today), Eminem is rumored to be making an appearance (after midnight). Maybe Jay-Z will stop by too?

UPDATE:
Eminem did in fact play Bowery Ballroom. a picture below.

Tickets to Eminem and Jay-Z's upcoming show at Yankee Stadium go on sale soon.

Black Star

"I won't lie....never had the chance to fully listen to 88-Keys, but when he came out and spit a few bars here and there...I was impressed..... From tricking fans by saying he was bringing out Yeezy (Kanye West to newly converted hip-hop heads) and instead coming out with his shirt open, black glove and lip-syncing to his lead single, 88 battled a handful of boos, a wad of paper thrown at his story-telling assistant which came out in-between tracks and poor microphone sound problems... On a side note, he did, however, bring out Bilal...)...

...Eminem [who got a taste of Bruno's butt at the MTV Movie Awards last night] told you to "take some Big and some 'Pac, mix 'em up in a pot, sprinkle a lil' Big L on top, now what the f*ck do you got," well, let me do you one slightly better. You take some hip and some hop, pour it all in a pot, surprise fans with Mos and Talib and fo' sure they gon' pop......' (laugh) Okay, maybe I'll stick to the re-cap and news covering....but when I tell you the place exploded with energy upon the arrival of Black Star's front men.... [SOHH]

Mos Def and Talib Kweli reunited Black Star for not one, but two back-to-back shows at NYC's Nokia Theatre on Saturday night (5/30). More pictures, and some videos, from the early show below...

eMusic talked to Indie Rock moms...

"Wow, it's hard to pick just one song. Some of my favorites are "90 Mile Water Wall" and "Thirsty" (Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers), "Daughters of the Soho Riots" (Alligator),"Son" (The National), "About Today" (Cherry Tree) and "Squalor Victoria" and "Gospel" (Boxer). I love the unique sound each song has, and how the band pounds it out on one and soothes your soul with another. I love the passion that each member of the band has about their music and the friends they have made on this amazing journey. I am so proud of both of my sons. Thanks guys! Keep on drummin' and strummin.'" [Shari Devendorf, Mother of Scott and Bryan Devendorf (The National)]
