The noise-oriented M.A.P.S (Metropolitan Audio Pain Source) series will continue in November with performances from a Baltimore-centric lineup. The show is in NYC on November 8 at Trans Pecos and will feature performances from Reverse Baptism, FFH, Corephallism, Gene Pick, Field Grave, Spiteful Womb and Sickness. Tickets for this show are currently on sale.
Reverse Baptism are a power electronics/spoken word project from Jason Crumer of Facedowninshit and various other harsh noise projects. FFH, also from Baltimore, definitely fall on the more abstract end of the harsh noise spectrum, providing distorted vocals and thick washes of dissonant sound. The final Baltimore band, Gene Pick, traffic in a John Wiese-like type of noise that's more evenly distributed and paced, building a progression into madness from a series of harsh blips and hits that evolve into something more enveloping. Masssachusetts-based Corephallism bring a slightly more melodic, more metal-influenced sound (somewhat along the lines of Prurient) into the fray. This is an extremely varied lineup, with each out-of-town act bringing something unique to the table.
These shows are leading up to the big M.A.P.S. festival on December 13 at Trans Pecos. Updated lineup for that, and streams of the artists playing the 11/8 show, below.

The LA noise/industrial label Chondritic Sound--the label that has Believer/Law, Marshstepper and more on their impressive roster--has organized a run of east coast dates for the middle of the summer, bringing three label acts with them. Hitting the road will be the droning, pulsing noise project Hive Mind of Chondritic boss Greh, the chaotic power electronics project Redrot, the eardrum ringing noise of Shredded Nerve and non-Chondritic noise act Scant. To share a descriptor of Scant's sound from the NYC show's Facebook event page--"PURE, BLEAK HARSH NOISE, NO BULLSHIT." Check out their string of dates below.
The tour lands in New York at Trans Pecos on July 29, where they will team up with noise veteran Rodger Stella, formerly of the influential Macronympha. Locals FFH, an unsettling noise act with a number of releases on Hospital Productions, and H.C.O.D will add support. More info at the show's event page.

Wolves in The Throne Room (more by Paul Birman)
Wolves in The Throne Room are here, and will begin their campaign of NYC darkness with Thou TONIGHT (9/12) at The Bell House with Krallice. Tickets are still available. The fun continues Wednesday (9/14) at Death By Audio in Brooklyn with Mutilation Rites (who replaced Krallice when Krallice switched to the Bell House show). Tickets for Death by Audio, previously unavailable, go on sale at 11AM (UPDATE: either we're crazy or the ticket on-sale has changed to 9/13 at 11pm).
Those opting for the Wednesday show still have a great option for tonight if you still feel like hitting some black-metal induced madness. Prescious Metal will host Raspberry Bulbs (mem Bone Awl), FFH, and Endless Humilation at Lit Lounge, one of two shows scheduled thus far for Raspberry Bulbs before they take a timeout to work on new material. If you can't make it, head out to Raspberry Bulbs' CMJ appearance at Saint Vitus on 10/18 where they'll team with Villains, Occultation (mem Negative Plane) & Skull. Ticketing info for the CMJ show is still forthcoming.
Krallice will also play Union Pool on Saturday with Urfaust/Black Anvil/Ruin Lust. Tickets are still available. The show is one of two BrooklynVegan heavy events scheduled for this weekend, with a second taking place on 9/16 at Public Assembly with 40 Watt Sun and the recently added Woe.
Wolves in The Throne Room welcome Celestial Lineage this week via Southern Lord. Cop it.
