It's a monumental year for Lollapalooza, filled with homecomings, reunions, and first-times. Soundgarden, 1992 and 1996 Lollapalooza alumni, return to the Lollapalooza stage for their first performance since 1997. Green Day will rock Grant Park sixteen years after their first Lollapalooza appearance. While Lady Gaga will headline the festival only three short years after playing the BMI stage at Lollapalooza 2007.
Arcade Fire returns to Grant Park, having played the reincarnated Lollapalooza in 2005. This is the first Lollapalooza for The Strokes - and also their first show in four years. And making their Lollapalooza debut: Phoenix." - Lollapalooza

DJ Harvey @ Sunday Best @ the BKLYN Yard - September 6, 2009

While technically it is still summer, many seasonal dance parties including Warm Up (Warm Up extended!), the Beach Party, and Sunday Best had their last hurrahs last weekend. Luckily there is still plenty to do. Here's what happening this weekend starting with Saturday (9/12):

Headliners Paul McCartney, The Killers and The Cure are among the 130-plus acts set for the tenth COACHELLA VALLEY MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL (APRIL 17, 18 AND 19) at the beautiful Empire Polo Club in Indio, CA, the same grounds where the COACHELLA VALLEY MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL debuted in 1999. Other artists confirmed for America's most critically acclaimed music festival include Morrissey, Amy Winehouse, Franz Ferdinand, My Bloody Valentine, Leonard Cohen, Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band, Thievery Corporation, Yeah Yeah Yeahs (the complete line-up is listed below).Tickets for COACHELLA go on sale Friday, January 30 at 9:00 AM (PT) at all Ticketmaster locations.
This marks the first ever U.S. festival appearance for McCartney who is currently supporting his latest release ELECTRIC ARGUMENTS.
"I have heard that Coachella is one of the greatest festivals in the world. I'm really excited to get out there and rock!" McCartney says.
Throbbing Gristle and the rest of the full (real) line-up (as of 1/30) is below:

With all that was happening Thursday and Friday night I don't have to imagine how tired you are, but the beat goes on. Rest up during the day on Saturday and prepare to dance pretty much non-stop Saturday night into next weekend.
As I mentioned in my last post, the Prime Time crew (Eamon Harkin and James F!@.$%^ Friedman) are back at Love with guest Alexander Robotnick doing a special dj set/live show. As a pioneer of Italo disco who also has affinities for electro-house, -techno, and -disco, as well as acid & progressive house, and new-wave, his set is sure to be nothing short of interesting. You can download some of Alex's mixes that touch on many of these styles here. Also be sure to check out Eamon Harkin's recent releases on Wurst Edits - John Boy and (my favorite) Innit. You can stream the tracks on his myspace page...and Turntable Lab will hopefully be restocking the 12" soon.
