Opening Night featuring NY premiere of new Fischerspooner art and music JANUARY 27TH

(New York, NY) — Art/pop duo Fischerspooner and gallerists Deitch Projects are pleased to announce the re-opening of ”Excellent Workshop,” a series of evening Salons held at the FS studio space at 110 North First Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn every Thursday.

The Salons began in July 2004, but have been on hiatus since October while the band put the finishing touches to their long awaited second album Â’OdysseyÂ’.

WARREN FISCHER and CASEY SPOONER will host a special OPENING NIGHT of the Salon series on January 27th. The final event on March 31st will be the official release party for their new album, Â’OdysseyÂ’ being released by Capitol/EMI worldwide on April 5.

The first Salon will be the premier of selected new artwork, photography, film and music the band have been working on for the last two years.

This Salon project was created to encourage participation and experimentation in the creative process that surrounds Fischerspooner, and has been a breeding ground of ideas and references for their new bodies of work in music and art. This casual weekly gathering is inspired by the salons of 19th century Paris and are meant to be a place to meet, exchange ideas, enjoy spontaneous events and witness the evolution of ideas in a working studio space.

Each gathering has showcased the work of a range of artists involved in FischerspoonerÂ’s creative world and has spanned dance, performance, music, photography, painting and installation. Much of this new work has remained in the space, accumulating as the season progresses and currently includes inspirations for music from their upcoming second album and the aesthetic informing the art direction of the new record

Fischerspooner began as a two-person, low-fi electro-pop performance at a Starbucks coffee shop in downtown NYC. In the years that have followed, Warren Fischer and Casey Spooner have expanded the project into an international pop culture phenomenon, incorporating the various talents of dancers, singers, filmmakers, and fashion, lighting and set-designers.
