It's the last week of November and we've hit Best-of List Season. Especially in the UK where we've already seen album lists from Rough Trade, MOJO, Q, and Uncut. Now here's long-running UK weekly NME with their LPs and tracks of the year. Topping the lists are St. Vincent's self-titled album, and Future Islands' omnipresent "Seasons." (Sorry, The War on Drugs, you're slightly lower on the list here.) And just to remind you they are British music magazine, Kasabian figure into both lists. Check out NME's full Top 50 LPs/Tracks of 2014 lists below...

Austin's Fun Fun Fun Fest wrapped up this past weekend with a variety of killer music across punk, metal, hip hop, indie, electronic and plenty of the in-between, plus comedy, wrestling, BMX competitions and more. The lineup spanned legends like Judas Priest, Gorilla Biscuits and Nas through great newer artists like Angel Olsen, Deafheaven and Courtney Barnett. We've already written plenty about it -- check out our reviews of day 1, day 2 and day 3 -- as well as posted pictures of Judas Priest, Gorilla Biscuits and Mineral.
Rough Trade NYC on Record Store Day 2014 (more by Amanda Hatfield)
As they usually are, Rough Trade Shops are one of the first this year to post their favorite albums of 2014 list. It's 100 albums long and mostly filled with the bigger indie and indie-related releases of the year, but there's a few surprises in there too. Mark Kozelek will not be happy to see that The War On Drugs placed #2, 8 higher than the Sun Kil Moon record. Mark should be proud that he made the list not once, but TWICE though. His Christmas album landed at #84. Run the Jewels, who are not on it all, have started a "Suck My Dick Rough Trade" chant. Check out their full list below and see more on each album here.
As discussed HERE and then HERE, Freddie Gibbs was allegedly the target of a shooting outside and after his show at Rough Trade in Williamsburg on Monday night (11/3). As also mentioned, two people that were with Freddie Gibbs were the ones who ended up being shot, though both are doing ok. One was shot in the hand. One was shot in the leg. Ends up the one shot in the leg was in fact Freddie's tour DJ, DJ Izzo. As you can see in the above Facetime screenshot, he is all smiles as he chats with Keith Jenkins of The Pack. Keith posted the picture to Instagram with the following message:
ONLY THE STRONG SURVIVE ! TALKED TO MY BROTHER @djizzo LAST NIGHT THEY SHOT MY MAN IN BROOKLYN LAST NIGHT GOT EM IN THE LEG HE STILL ALIVE AND DOING WELL THEY COULDN'T STOP A REAL ONE !!! THIS WAS RIGHT AFTER HE SHITTED ON THE WHOLE CLUB AND HAD ALL THE BAD BITCHES IN TEARS CUZ HE AINT WANNA TALK TO EM IF THEY WASNT GO PAY EM !! GET WELLRapper Lew Barnez also posted an Instagram message. It reads:

Meanwhile. Freddie Gibbs hasn't said much since we last checked in with him. No word on actual suspects or updates in the case either.
Rough Trade NYC is open again tonight with a show by Panama Wedding, Paperwhite and Royal Tongues. And hilariously, Thursday with Nick Jonas. We might stop by Friday night to check out Cold Specks or to Saturday night's sold out Alvvays show. We'll definitely be there Sunday for the free (with LP purchase) Gruff Rhys instore.
aftermath at N. 9th & Wythe (via)
Earlier today, we pointed out that a shooting went down at Rough Trade NYC in Williamsburg last night after Indiana rapper Freddie Gibbs' show at the venue, and that he was the alleged target. Freddie meanwhile has confirmed tthat like his 2012 record, he's #StillLivin. With other tweets he further confirms he's good and that his tour DJ is too.
The NY Post article we linked to earlier has also since been updated and has more details on the situation:
Cops showed Gibbs pictures of the gunman, and another man seen inside the club with him, but the rapper didn't recognize either man.It hasn't been confirmed who the gunman was yet, but some people on Twitter have speculated that Jeezy, who Freddie had a major fallout with which resulted in death threats, was behind it. The Four Oh Five also said, "This could potentially stem from some beef between Freddie Gibbs and Young Jeezy, although absolutely nothing has been confirmed, of course, and I'm only putting two and two together."
Rough Trade doesn't have metal detectors and doesn't check customers for weapons, police said.
"They don't have metal detectors, they don't use wands," the investigator said, "nothing prevents somebody from bringing in a gun."
The gunman could have shot Gibbs inside, but instead opened fire when they were all outside.
"At one point, he [the shooter] was standing right next to you," the investigator said. "The opportunity was there if he wanted to shoot."
Others have guessed that Dipset's Jim Jones, who Freddie recently called out, saying "he a wanna be blood," was behind it. But when one person suggested that on Twitter, Freddie responded "na I doubt it he too pussy."
Above is a picture of the aftermath via Alex Esguerra, who wrote "Last night two guys got shot outside of #roughtrade literally outside our window. We watched the aftermath out our window." Another instagram via @leopoldof is captioned saying the entire block is closed. As of now, tonight's Noah Gunderson / Owen Beverly show at Rough Trade still appears to be on though. If you go, keep an eye out for the previously mentioned bullet holes that now decorate the venue's door.
Stay tuned for any more updates. Listen to "Still Livin'" below...

Freddie Gibbs at Governors Ball 2013 (more by Dana (distortion) Yavin)
A shooting went down at last night's (11/3) Freddie Gibbs show at Rough Trade NYC in Williamsburg. Freddie Gibbs told the NY Post that they were going after him while he was sitting in a black GMC Denali outside the club. "They tried to kill Tupac. They tried to kill me. I'm still alive," he said.
The article further reports that a law enforcement source said it was a single gunman who opened fire at 1:13 AM, and that two were shot. Both are believed to be part of Freddie's entourage, but the police have not identified them at this time (update: one was Freddie's tour DJ, DJ Izzo). Freddie told the NY Post that he took cover inside the venue after the shots were fired.
One person at the show posted the following message to Facebook last night: "rap shows,,, someone just shot up rough trade while we were in here. WTF!!! and the guy they were gunning for ran right behind the bar into the closet right near us!". Then: "we're all ok... bullet holes in the front door. someone had it out for Freddy Gibb I tell ya..."
The victims were both brought to Bellevue Hospital and are listed in stable condition.

(Mr) Twin Sister's Andrea Estella as Bonnie Deville in 'Veronica Mars'
It's been a while since we've heard from Twin Sister, who released their debut album on Domino back in 2011. You may have heard a couple of their songs recently if you saw the crowd-funded Veronica Mars movie, which came out back in March, and is now on home video. The plotline involves the murder of a pop star named Bonnie Deville who is played by Twin Sister's Andrea Estella, and all her songs are by that band. "All Around and Away We Go" is used pretty much verbatim, but "I Want a House" gets reworked with a new title, "Holding My Breath." (You can compare and contrast the original and revamp below.) Here's a plot twist: on the soundtrack, however, both songs are credited to Mr. Twin Sister.
What's going on? It looks like we'll know next week. In rapid succession, the Twin Sister twitter account tweeted: "Got a present for you," "Just wrapping it," and "Let's open it next week... Tuesday?" I guess we stay tuned.
The Veronica Mars soundtrack also features songs by Freddie Gibbs, Sufjan Stevens and Alejandro Escovedo who covers Dandy Warhols' "We Used to Be Friends" (which is the Veronica Mars theme song). Check out the tracklist and the Twin Sister/Mr. Twin Sister streams (via YouTube) below.
