Ducktails at Glasslands in 2011 (more by Jessica Amaya)
Ducktails

As mentioned, Pitchfork is co-presenting a Hurricane Sandy relief benefit this Sunday (12/2) at MoMA PS1 in Long Island City with Holly Herndon (live), Ducktails (DJ), and Oneohtrix Point Never (DJ). Tickets for the show are still available and all proceeds go to benefit hurricane relief.

Ducktails (the project of Real Estate's Matt Mondanile) will release their new album, The Flower Lane, on January 29 via Domino and they'll be playing a record release show for it in NYC on January 23 at Le Poisson Rouge with a number of special guests, including Jessa Farkas (Future Shuttle), Cults singer Madeline Follin, Joel Ford, and Matt's Real Estate bandmate Martin Courtney. Tickets for that show are on sale now. You can stream the title track from the new album below.

As mentioned, Oneohtrix Point Never will also DJ 285 Kent on December 7 with Autre Ne Veut and Grimes' second favorite rapper of the year, Mykki Blanco. Tickets for that show are still available.

Stream below.

Maria Minerva & LA Vampires - The Integration
Integration

As mentioned, warped pop singer Maria Minerva is releasing a collaborative album with Not Not Fun/100% Silk label head LA Vampires (aka Amanda Brown, formerly of Pocahaunted) called The Integration. The album will be out digitally and on vinyl on October 30 and it comes out on CD on November 13. GvsB just premiered the video for the album's single, "Seasons Change," which you can watch below. That's the cover art above and the tracklist is below.

Maria Minerva is playing a number of CMJ shows this week (maybe you saw her at the Panache showcase at Public Assembly on Wednesday or at Trip House or Le Poisson Rouge last night?) and you still have some chances to see her. She plays the Ad Hoc unofficial showcase at 285 Kent tonight (10/19) with Solar Year, Prince Rama, Le1f, Physical Therapy, Mykki Blanco, and Pictureplane (DJ). I just caught Prince Rama, Mykki Blanco, and Pictureplane (though it was live a set) at the Terrorbird party at Cake Shop on Wednesday and they were all great, plus Maria Minerva doesn't disappoint in a live setting, so that showcase is looking like a pretty solid show. $8 at the door.

Maria plays the 285 Kent show at 9 PM and after that she'll head to Delancey for a 12:30 AM set at the Underwater Peoples showcase with La Big Vic, Future Shuttle, Ian Drennan, and Limited. $5 at the door.

Then, as mentioned, Maria will play the Life or Death showcase at 92YTribeca on Saturday (10/20) with Kilo Kish, Sky Ferreira, Mac DeMarco, DIIV, Twerps, Starred, Dogbite, Slug Guts, and Jozef Van Wissem. $10 at the door, or you can try to get in with your CMJ badge.

A list of all dates, that video, and the album tracklist are below.

Blanche Blanche Blanche
Blanche Blanche Blanche

Brooklyn label RVNG Intl. is taking part in Bulletin Boards, a group show curated by Matthew Higgs (White Columns Gallery), at Venus Over Manhattan (980 Madison Ave, 3rd Floor) tonight (7/19). Here's what the label has to say about the show:

For this group show, each artist is granted a 3' x 4' bulletin board space. RVNG invited a select group of musicians from different points on the avant spectrum to contribute an object to be used as a percussion arranged and affixed to the bulletin board and "played" by [David] Van Tieghem.

This performance will be multi-tracked in high definition before the opening. We will offer the recorded performance back to the contributing musicians to "re-animate" into original piece / recordings. These recordings will be culled and assembled by Van Tieghem and RVNG / The Sound of White Columns into a limited edition album for the FRKWYS.

Van Teighem will be performing at the opening tonight (7/19) and there wil be DJ sets by Matt from RVNG, Matthew HIggs, and Nick Relph. Participating artists in the show include Blanche Blanche Blanche, DIamond Terrifier, Future Shuttle (in conjunction with Anna Gonick), Hiro Kone, Robert Lange (Helado Negro), Megafortress, and more. Tonight's show starts at 6 PM. More details, the flier, and the full list of participating artists is below.

Speaking of Blanche Blanche Blanche, their new album, Wink With Both Eyes, came out earlier this year. If you've yet to hear it, you can stream the album in full below.

Slava/Salva
SlavaSalva

We recently profiled Brooklyn producer Slava and mentioned his upcoming NYC shows, which include Warm Up at MoMA PS1 on July 28 and a BPM152 party at Tammany Hall on August 11. But if you'd like to catch Slava even sooner than that, head to Big Snow on Saturday (7/14) where he'll play as part of the ongoing Alan Watts residency with Y.O.U. and Comadrone. That residency also continues on July 19 with Grasshopper, Warcries, Kel Valhaal, and Future Shuttle.

Hopefully we'll stop confusing them one day, but until then I find it worth mentioning that the similarly named Salva plays a NYC show at Glasslands on September 14. Tickets for that show are on sale now. It's a late show which happens after Maria Minerva plays the venue earlier that night.

Lists of dates and song streams from both producers are below...

fireworks (more by Chris La Putt)
fireworks

The 35th Annual Macy's 4th of July Fireworks returns to the West Side to delight New Yorkers and the nation with an awe-inspiring display of patriotic firepower. This year's extravaganza, "Gift of Freedom," will feature more than 40,000 fireworks expertly synchronized to a dynamic 25-minute score that includes a mix of American standards and the hottest pop favorites!

Not in New York? Check out our entertainment
special on NBC, July 4th at 9 pm EST.

Nick Lachey hosts the TV show which will feature performances by Brad Paisley & Beyoncé.

"The Fireworks can be viewed from any area with an unobstructed view of the sky above the Hudson River. For the best views, head to 12th Avenue below 59th Street at the following access points along 11th Avenue." Note that: The Westside Highway will be closed from 22nd Street to 59th Street beginning at 4:00 pm. You can also watch from NJ. I wouldn't recommend trying to see them from Brooklyn, though it may be possible if you get up high enough somewhere. One option for watching the fireworks is aboard a Rocks Off ship.

Unfortunately there will NOT be a free concert in Battery Park this year, not that last year's was anything special (for people over 5 years old anyway). There will not be a free show on Governors Island this year either. Last year they had a free She & Him show and a Rosanne Cash show too. This year the beach on Governors will be occupied by a not-free Pacha-presented dance party (part of the four-day Dance.Here.Now. Festival).

4th of July NYC show options are pretty slim in general this year, though Shea Stadium is hosting Summerjam III with Extreme Animals, Sightings, Liturgy, PC Worship, Hubble, La Otracina, Fuckton, In Buenos Aires, Dubknowdub, Black Ribbons, Future Shuttle, and more. Zebulon, Brooklyn Bowl and Barbes are all also open that day.

July 4th is a Monday though, and it's a Monday you probably have off of work (like Bowery Presents does -- all their clubs are closed that day). That means you can stay up late Sunday, July 3rd which is when Panda Bear plays Music Hall of Williamsburg, Tinsel Teeth are at Death By Audio, The Hairs play a free afternoon show at the South Street Seaport Fulton Market, Jaga Jazzist play Le Poisson Rouge, and the Feelies play their third of three Maxwell's shows.

What else?
