Now in its sixth year, The Savannah Stopover will happen March 10-12 at venues all over Savannah, GA. The fest just announced its initial lineup which includes Yuck, Ra Ra Riot, Porches, Alex G, Beverly, Big Ups, Mass Gothic (Noel from Hoorary for Earth's new band), All Dogs, White Reaper and more. Early bird tickets are on sale now.

Chris Forsyth and Koen Holtkamp (of Mountains) released the collaborative album Early Astral back in 2011, and next week (10/16) they'll release their second and first for Trouble In Mind, The Island (pre-order). Chris' solo material often has him making full songs out of the kind of spacey guitar soloing that The Grateful Dead were known for, while Koen's deals more with droning ambience. For this project, the two musicians bring those two sounds together and the results turned out really well. Jeff Zeigler, who's worked with Kurt Vile, The War on Drugs and more, recorded it. Listen to "Cosmic Richard" and watch the video for "Long Beach Idyll" (premiering here) below.
Chris & Koen don't have any shows together coming up at the moment, but Chris Forsyth & the Solar Motel Band do. They're currently in the midst of an October residency at Ortlieb's in Philly, and after that they play two NYC shows. The first is opening for Futurebirds at Bowery Ballroom on November 12 (tickets) and the second is Trans-Pecos on December 12 (more info TBA). All dates are listed below.

Sharing a love of Slowdive, Felt and Field Mice, London based pair Nathalie Bruno and Jack Milwaukee (who is from Italy, just for the record) began working on music together which soon turned into an actual band, Leave the Planet. If they are getting off this rock, they're doing it gently, in beautiful fashion. This is shoegaze at its most glistening. Having only released a few songs, as well as a lovely cover of Galaxie 500's "Strange," Leave the Planet are now signed to Kanine Records and will release new single "Winter Sleep" on February 3. We've got the premiere of that song's video which was directed by Milwaukee. You can watch it below.
Leave the Planet will be visiting the East Coast next month where they'll play a handful of shows, including six in NYC:

Beck / Andrew Bird at Outside Lands 8/10/2012
Who needs to travel to Southern California for Coachella or to Texas for Austin City Limits? Certainly not music fans living in the Bay Area.San Francisco's Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival kicked off Friday night (8/10) with sets from Beck, The Foo Fighters, Andrew Bird, Reggie Watts, Two Gallants, Futurebirds, Washed Out and more. More pictures from Day 1 are below.
They can just stay right at home and enjoy the increasingly popular Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park. That is, if they can get a ticket. This year's gathering of the musical tribes, which runs through Sunday, completely sold out in advance -- 65,000 tickets snatched up for each of the three days.
That's quite an accomplishment for the still-young event, which, in its fifth year, has certainly become one of the nation's premiere music festivals.
This success story is no mystery. Berkeley-based concert promoter Another Planet Entertainment always lines up terrific acts for the festival -- and that's certainly the case in 2012.
The large-scale production, which features six performance stages as well as great food and drink offerings (mostly from local providers), kicked off in triumphant fashion on Friday with sets by hometown hero Neil Young (with Crazy Horse), the Foo Fighters, Beck, Of Monsters and Men, Die Antwoord and many other talents. - [Oakland Tribune]

Jonny Corndawg @ Bowery Ballroom (more by Ryan Barkan)
"Expecting the usual d-bag bands who take their sweet time getting on stage, I arrived at 9:30 p.m. to find Dawes in full swing with some character on stage with them, wearing a horse cardigan, cowboy hat and Mariah Carey-fade sunglasses. What?Jonny Corndawg's previously mentioned April residency at Brooklyn Bowl kicks off at the Williamsburg bowling alley music venue tonight (4/4), and then continues each Monday this month with different openers (Michael Hurley opens the final one).
The Western-looking character, I later learned, was Jonny Corndawg who brought a Nashville twang and some knee-knocking dance moves to the stage. Post-performance, he threw out some of his ghetto airbrushed t-shirts denoting "nasty memories."" [Kelly Shea]
Tickets are on sale for all four Brooklyn dates ($5.00 in advance, $7.00-day-of), and you can definitely pick them up at the door, OR... you can enter to win one of TEN PAIRS that we're giving away for EACH show. PLUS, every winner will also get a free veggie corndog (they'll be selling varieties at the venue) (they're not vegan, but they're not meat either and they got them just for us). In other words, we're giving away FORTY PAIRS OF TICKETS (and 40 veggie corndogs). Details on how to enter, with a a pre-beard video documentary on Jonny, details on Corndawg's new album (that he needs help funding), and more tour dates, below....
