Agalloch

Folkin' black proggers Agalloch has announced that they are at work on their fourth LP, the follow-up the the critically acclaimed Ashes Against The Grain! The band recently parted ways with The End and "have received several offers ranging from the ridiculous to the very interesting" with respect to a new home, but no decision is expected until 2009. Meanwhile, Agalloch also announced the release of The Demonstration Archive, a retrospective of songs from 1996 - 1998 before they signed to the label. For more info on The Demonstration Archive, including how to pick it up, head here.
As we announced a couple weeks ago, doomy instrumental trio Capricorns have released River Bear Your Bones in jolly old England, but the US will see the record on September 30th. Have no fear, as we have posted 25% of the whole record (above) for you to download!
Intronaut's new record, Prehistoricisms, is up for preorder, with or without a limited edition tee ($4 more). Check out "The Literal Black Cloud" from Prehistoricisms here.
Black Anvil

World, Black Anvil. Black Anvil, world. I wish it was that easy, because word needs to get out on these grim lords constructed from ex-members of Kill Your Idols. Drawing from early black metal and thrash and with only an occasional foray into Emperor-style tremolo picking, their new LP Time Insults The Mind is an unholy creature of shadow. Check out "Ten Talons Deep" available for download above and the video of the band tearing through "Deathsomnia" (also from Time...). and pick up the record at Momentum Records when it drops. The band is also playing Traxx in Ronkonkoma on August 23rd and The Charleston on Sept 30th.
That video, plus Neurosis, Coalesce, Converge, Municipal Waste, Rosetta, sunn 0))), Corrupted and more after the jump...

Giant has joined that exclusive club, the one with Dinosaur Jr., Matthew Dear, The Concretes, The Raveonettes, and many many others ..... bands that have been robbed in (or near) NYC.
From Lambgoat:
"During our set in Brooklyn tonight our van window was smashed in and our bags, laptops, MP3 players, headphones, and various personal items, not to mention our money box, with the majority of money we have as a band, was taken."Giant was in town playing the mega-super-ridiculous show with Tombs, Engineer, and Rosetta. The boys ended with this hopeful nugget:
"I only say this to give an update as to our time on the road, and formally thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts for all of the help given to us. the people at the show in Brooklyn, Engineer, Tombs, Rosetta, words simply can not express how thankful we are. oddly enough, in the end, it may have been the most heartening experience any of this have had with this band. so, thank you Brooklyn."Giant are at work on their new album Telomeres."We will not be setting up a Paypal account or any of that mess. Just come to the shows and say 'hello!'"

Kickin off "Skin Turns To Glass" somethin' propa-like (due April 1 on The End), Nadja (who we were just talking about) will take it to the streets (and highways) for a US tour followed by a short swing through Europe with a stop at the astonishingly great Roadburn Festival in Tilburg, Holland.
The US leg of the tour includes a March 7th CD-release party at Europa in Brooklyn (with Bloody Panda & Tombs), and at least a couple of appearances at SXSW including the The End Records showcase where they will be flanked by Alex Skolnick Trio (of Testament,, and who is also coming to BB Kings), Jarboe (look for J2), Tub Ring, Made Out Of Babies, and Giant.
Speaking of North Carolina's Giant, the boys are currently working on their 'The End Records' debut and follow up to last year's split 12" with Tides.... Look for that later this year. All Nadja & Giant tour dates below...
