Jane's Addiction - @ Echoplex, Los Angeles - Feb 16, 2009 (revolute)
Jane's Addiction

Live Nation and Adam Zacks are pleased to announce this year's line up for the Sasquatch! Music Festival at the legendary Gorge in Eastern Washington. The festival, now in its eighth and most ambitious year yet, has evolved from a unique, homegrown & low key fest into a full blown three day extravaganza. A festival-goer's dream, it comes complete with camp-outs, canyons, sunsets, three stages and new this year, an expanded comedy and dance music tent. The tent will feature performances from comedians throughout the day, and then come dusk, will spotlight electronic and dance music artists.

Already the official opener to summer for music fans, the Sasquatch! Music Festival is becoming a certified monster of a musical event: this year features another exciting and diverse line-up for the musically adventurous, and ups the ante on an event already hailed for its independent spirit. Tickets go on sale Saturday February 28th at 10AM

NY Cares

Nick Diamonds/Thorburn of Islands put together a NY Cares benefit at Knitting Factory in NYC. It happened back on December 8th. The three floor event featured experimental music, art and someone on LSD in a cage on the bottom floor (Old Office), comedy (Eugene Mirman, Dave Hill, Tim Harrington of Les Savy Fav, God's Pottery, Jessie Klein, etc...) followed by Street Carnage (Gavin McInnes showing funny pictures and telling really dirty stories about them) on the second flooor (Tap Bar), and music (Conrad Keely, Leona Naess, Marnie Stern, Despot and Nick Diamonds) and comedy (Eugene Mirman and Fred Armisen) on the main stage. More pictures below...

LSDLSD

to quote Nick,

Eugene Mirmen was added to the bill, along with comics Jessi Klein, God's Pottery, & Andres DuBouchet (which brings the total comedy to...a lot considering there's also Dave Hill, David Cross and Fred Armisen). Fred Armisen is going to be doing something special, and Andrew WK is gonna pop by and do a set, i think. Tim Harrington just rang and is gonna have a t-shirt booth, making customized ones for sale. plus, miracle fruit is crazy- it alters the receptors in your taste buds to make bitter and sour things taste sweet. Also, there will be a guy in a cage on LSD who you can interact with (but be gentle). this will be a fun night.

p.s. doing a solo set with accompaniment

Tickets are still on sale. Amazing Baby is playing too. The newest flyer, confirming some of the above information, is below...

SketchfestSketchFest NYC 08 is fast approaching and this year's 28 act line-up (spread out over three nights) is absolutely nuts. The producers have really outdone themselves with the best of the best, culled from all corners of North Americawesome....

Twenty-eight different groups from around North America will converge on the UCB Theatre on June 12th, June 13th, and June 14th. Each night, New York audiences will experience the absolute best sketch comedy from Canada, Portland, Chicago, Austin, Seattle, Los Angeles, and New York City itself.
SketchfestHighlights of the schedule include appearances by Kurt & Kristen, The Harvard Sailing Team, Elephant Larry, Rue Brutalia, God's Pottery, The Onion News Network LIVE, as well as Rock n' ROFL sponsor The Sound of Young America LIVE with special musical guest Dawn Landes. And one absolutely cannot miss the Closing Night Craptacular hosted by Rob Lathan (seen at the bottom of this post) and Adira Amram.

SketchfestI'm definitely more of a stand-up guy when it comes to what makes me laugh. Good sketch isn't easy to pull off. Often times I have to see several sketch performances before one comes along that will crack me up. However, the line-up of this year's SketchFest is definitely going to deliver laughs from the first act to the closing ceremony. I really wish they could shoe-horn Brett Gelman's 1000 Cats performance into the schedule though. Anyhow, TICKETS: $10, Individual Tickets; $40, Nightly Passes; $100, Full Festival Passes; available at ucbtheatre.com, 212-366-9176, or at the door. Full schedule below....

Tickets are still on sale but they're Sailing Away, Minute By Minute, but I'm Alright. even though it could TOTOly sell out.

You may recall that British Comedian Ricky Gervais has a handful of upcoming US dates including THREE at the WAMU Theater in July (and even some warm-up dates in LA just prior. I saw him last year and had a blast. Tickets for these shows are still on sale AND we've got some tickets to giveaway at the end of the post.
