The Menzingers in Chicago in June (more by Jeff Ryan)
Menzingers

Taking Back Sunday, who now have three albums with the lineup who recorded Tell All Your Friends, have announced they'll be starting an annual holiday show at NJ's Starland Ballroom. They said:

We think it would be a fun way to combine a few things; playing in one of our favorite venues, inviting some younger east coast bands on the shows which we don't always get to do,  putting together some great merchandise sales and donating some of those profits to charity along with some other special surprises that we'll announce later.
This year's will happen on December 27 and will feature Philly punks The Menzingers, as well as Modern Chemistry. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday (8/15) at 10 AM, and there's an ongoing presale (details here). Show flyer below.

TBS are also playing all three Riot Fests this year and The Menzingers are on Chicago and Denver. Menzingers also play hometown festival Made In America this month (8/31), and they're playing an acoustic set at NYC's Knitting Factory on September 26 with Lawrence Arms singer Brendan Kelly to celebrate Red Scare's 10th anniversary. Tickets for the KF show are still available.

The Menzingers have also announced a couple Northeast shows leading up to their appearance at The Fest with the reactivated Spraynard and Cassavetes. They'll be nearby NYC for a Long Island show at Amityville's Revolution Bar & Music Hall on October 24. That show also includes Lee Corey Oswald, making for a good bill all around. Tickets for that one are on sale now. All Menzingers dates are listed below.

Speaking of The Fest, more bands were recently added including Kind of Like Spitting, Goodtime Boys, The Interrupters, Dave Hause, James Alex (Weston, Beach Slang), Living Room and more. A comedy showcase featuring Chris Gethard and more was also announced.

More Fest addition details, TBS show flyer, list of Menzingers dates and videos, below...

Goodtime Boys

Goodtime Boys hail from the UK, but besides their accents, they fit sonically into the current wave of American post-hardcore/screamo bands like Touche Amore, La Dispute and Pianos Become the Teeth, all of whom they've played with. (Or maybe you caught them on our shores last year with Loma Prieta.) The band's newest record, Rain, comes out on May 20 via Bridge 9 (Defeater, Iron Chic) and its new single, "Wallfower" is a great example of what this band can do.

Vocalist Alex Pennie's hoarse, impassioned shout falls somewhere between the gruff vocals of Fucked Up's Damien Abraham and the spoken word post-hardcore of Self Defense Family's Patrick Kindlon, while the band layer their aggression with the delicacies and atmospherics of post-rock. Only once during the song do Goodtime Boys make the foray into clean singing, but not in the soaring, high-pitched way post-hardcore bands have been known to. Instead it's calmer and more akin to '90s indie-emo.

"Wallflower" makes its premiere in this post. Check it out, with the album artwork and tracklist, below...
