MNDR on stage w/ Mark Ronson @ Webster Hall (more by Toby Tenenbaum)

It's been a banner year for Amanda Warner aka MNDR, thanks in part to her work with Mark Ronson (and Q-Tip), on record, in video, and on the stage. It looks like that collaboration will continues in the new year, as Mark Ronson & The Business Intl is taking the show to Australia.
Meanwhile. MNDR, whose current MySpace "location" says "NY/LA/SF, California, United States," will be playing a few shows through the end of the year. She tags Cali on 12/9 and 12/10, and then heads back to NYC to play Santos Party House on 12/17, before finishing up in Chicago the next day. Tickets for the Santos show, which also includes sets by Psychobuildings and Zambri, are still available.
January and February have MNDR opening for Chromoeo on their previously announced 2011 Risky Business Tour, though she is suspiciously absent from the lineup of the 2/4 show at Terminal 5 which (so far?) only lists The Suzan as opener.
MNDR has also been announced as the next artist working with Green Label Sound, and as such will release her new single "Cut Me out" via the website on January 19th.
Full tour schedule and some videos of MNDR are below.

Freelance Whales break into song
while waiting for that confounded L-train (more by Ryan Barkan)

Freelance Whales are hitting the road two weeks from today for a string of dates with Minature Tigers. The tour which kicks off on 11/5 at Maxwell's (a show that was recently added) and concludes with a homecoming show at Webster Hall on 12/15, will take them coast to coast in celebration of Weathervanes, their new album out now on Frenchkiss Records. Tickets are still available for both the Maxwell's and the Webster Hall show.
If you were hoping to see them sooner, you're in luck. But you're also out of luck. Freelance Whales will also be playing an invite-only show Friday (10/22) as part of the Green Label Sound series with Theophilus London, Neon Indian, and a DJ set from Flosstradamus at Backstage Bar.
Green Label Sound is the Mountain Dew "label". Freelance Whales are their latest "signing". Download new track "Enzymes" at the site.
Neon Indian play a public CMJ show at Bowery Ballroom Saturday night.

Chromeo on a building in Williamsburg

"Kiiiiiiind of intense..." You'll hear our music in commercials here and there, but Pee and I have never done an ad campaign. When Bushmills kindly approached us to take part in one, we laid out our conditions clearly and carefully: we'll consider it, but we want a billboard the size of an entire building. Hand painted, at that. We want my brother to be part of the campaign too (nice little debate on whether this was a sell-out move over on his blog, by the way). The photography's got to be simple, classic and show that we're just buddies being ourselves, not indulging in any kind of product. Oh, and it has to be shot by someone who also worked with DMX. Hey, it worked. Drink responsibly. Also in the ads, which you may have seen around NYC (the 8 Ave-14th St subway, for one), are Fool's Gold, No Mas, DFA Records and Kai Regan.Update: I was joking about the whole hand painted, DMX thing. (My dad didn't get it so I thought I'd clarify. [Chromeo]
As for music, Chromeo release their next album, Business Casual, on August 17th. The song "Night by Night" from that album is a free download at Mountain Dew's Green Label Sound site. The full tracklist is below.
Chromeo' next show is at Bonnaroo (where the band will play with Daryl Hall), and they kick off a tour with Holy Ghost! on July 26th. That tour hits Bowery Ballroom in NYC on Thursday, July 29th. Tickets go on sale at noon today (5/26).
DFA's Holy Ghost! has become a household name (around here) lately thanks to the project officially becoming a full band and opening for LCD Soundsystem on their current tour which included four nights at Terminal 5. As previously mentioned, the band's other tour dates also include an opening slot for Hot Chip at Summerstage. They've since added their first headlining show too. It happens June 24th at Le Poisson Rouge and tickets are on sale.

Chromeo was one of the bands that played the free Green Label Sound show at Brooklyn Bowl on Friday night (10/23). Theophilus London, Amazing Baby, Solid Gold, and Holy Ghost were also on the bill. Green Label Sound is a Mountain Dew-run website that gives away tracks by various bands including all of the artists who played the show. For Chromeo you can get "Night By Night" and two remixes of the same song. More pictures from the show (well, of Chromeo anyway) below...
