Bouncing Souls @ Highline Ballroom - July 6, 2011
Bouncing Souls

"With that, the [Bouncing Souls] bounded onto the [Highline Ballroom] stage and with the opening notes of "I Like Your Mom" proceeded to whip the capacity crowd into a fervor that did not let up until the end of the "first round". Round 2 was once again preceded by the boxing intro of Gentleman Jim with his announcement of the challenger, "Maniacal Laughter!!!!". The band kept up their relentless pace. So relentless that a guy in a wheelchair crowd surfed his way onto the stage - not once but TWICE! Equal opportunity moshing!!!" [Jake]
Though all of the recent celebration has concerned the catalog of The Bouncing Souls (their four night stay in Philly starts Wednesday), their frontman Greg Attonito is also celebrating the release of his own solo album. Natural Disaster which is out NOW, and the Bouncing Souls frontman will take to the stage of Watermark in Asbury Park, NJ TONIGHT (7/12). Stream all of Natural Disaster at AOL and if you dig it, buy a copy at the door and get in FREE ($5 otherwise).

Night one of The Bouncing Souls NYC residency at Highline Ballroom focused on The Good, The Bad, and The Argyle and Maniacal Laughter and featured support from Hostage Calm, Dave Hause, and Weston. Pictures from that night (though none of Hostage Calm) are in this post (pics from night three are HERE). More of them below...

7 Seconds & Bouncing Souls on tour in 1994
7secs and BSouls

Twenty years is a major milestone for any band, but in a genre like punk rock that thrives on boundless energy, ducking authority, and youth, it's a particularly notable achievement. This year marks the 20th anniversary of The Bouncing Souls, and yet more clicks on the odometer in the touring van. The band kicks off a set of dates this week with fellow NJ luminaries Lifetime and punk rock legends 7 Seconds.

7 Seconds know a thing or two about longevity. The band is currently approaching it's 30th (!) year and prides itself on being one of the longest standing hardcore bands in existence, joining the esteemed ranks of Bad Brains, DOA, and Circle Jerks among others. Vocalist Kevin Seconds has been the face of the band since inception, spending the last few years on the road as a solo acoustic act, similar to like-minded punks Chuck Ragan, Walter Schriefels, and Greg Attonito of The Bouncing Souls.

On the eve of the Bouncing Souls / 7 Seconds dates in NYC (which impact 8/21 & 8/22, Lifetime opens on 8/20 & 8/23), we got a pair of punk rock veterans to sit down for an interview... with each other! Greg called in to speak with Kevin Seconds while on the Warped Tour, and the two discussed their upcoming tours in their respective bands and as solo artists, as well as what it means to still be a punk in 2009. Read it below....
