Soul legend Bill Withers was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year, will continued to be honored when a host of big names pay tribute to him at a concert at NYC's Carnegie Hall on October 1. This is one of the Michael Dorf Presents "Music Of" tribute shows and participating artists include D'Angelo, Dr. John, Michael McDonald, Aloe Blacc, Sheryl Crow, Amos Lee, Keb' Mo', Gregory Porter, Ed Sheeran, Kathy Mattea, Ledisi and more to be announced. They'll be performing Withers' 1973 Live At Carnegie Hall album in full. (Stream the original via Spotify below.) Tickets are on sale now and proceeds will go to Stuttering Association for the Young (Withers has stuttered since childhood). There are also VIP packages available as well.
Withers himself will make an appearance at the concert, though whether he'll sing remains to be seen. Now 77, he did not sing at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony earlier this year -- Stevie Wonder, who introduced him, did however perform Withers' classic "Ain't No Sunshine." Earlier in May, Disclosure released new single "Bang That," and they'll have just shared a second. "Holding On," which features vocals by Gregory Porter, debuted on Annie Mac's BBC1 radio show and the group call it "the first single from our new album" and promise more details soon. The 2015 Glastonbury Festival, which sold out in 25 minutes back in October, has announced it's initial lineup. In addition to Lionel Richie, which they confirmed a while back, this year will feature Patti Smith, Kanye West, Florence and the Machine, Pharell Williams, Motorhead, Alabama Shakes, The Fall, Alt-J, Suede, Fat White Family, The Chemical Brothers, GOAT, Caribou, fka twigs, George Clinton, Father John Misty, Kate Tempest, Run the Jewels, Future Islands and more.

The annual Bumbershoot Festival returns in 2014 to Seattle's Seattle Center from August 30 to September 1. The lineup was just announced and it includes Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Arcade Fire, Vampire Weekend, Eric Clapton, Public Enemy, Big Freedia, Charles Bradley, Solange, Laura Mvula, Phish, Santana, Alabama Shakes, Robert Plant and the Sensational Space Shifters, Bobby Womack, Allen Toussaint, Bombino and many more. As mentioned, Winter Jazz Fest is returning to NYC and it begins today (1/11) and continues through Saturday (1/12) across multiple NYC venues, including Le Poisson Rouge, Sullivan Hall, Zinc Bar, The Bitter End, Culture Project Theater, and The Bowery Electric with many artists including Colin Stetson, Rafiq Bhatia, Nels Cline, Debo Band, Vijay Iyer, Toshi Reagon, and more. As previously discussed, !!! will be in town for a show at Music Hall of Williamsburg on Thursday (12/13) with Sinkane (who will open for Solange next week) and Yellow Dogs. Tickets for the show are still available and we're also giving away a pair. Details on how to enter to win are below.
Meanwhile, !!! frontman Nic Offer recently spoke to us about his favorite albums and songs of the year. Like Nic's own music, the list skews mainly electronic and electronic-tinged pop, and he makes room for a few other interesting inclusions too. Nic is also now the second artist we've spoke to to include the various artists compilation, Personal Space: Electronic Soul 1974-1984. You can check out the whole list below.
Sax wizard Colin Stetson is working on his new solo album which will be out at some point in 2013, but before that you'll get a chance to see him at an intimate NYC show with many guests at Zebulon on December 6. The show includes Colin doing a solo set, along with sets by Holly Miranda and her band, Sarah Neufeld on solo violin (Arcade Fire, Bell Orchestre), and Lone Wolf (aka Ryan Saywer). Then Colin, Sarah and Ryan will do a collaborative set with Stuart Bogie, Adam Roberts, and Ryan Ferreira. No advance tickets for this show.
Colin Stetson is also part of the lineup for the 2013 Winter Jazz Fest which goes down across multiple venues in NYC on January 11 and 12. Colin will be playing The Bitter End on 1/12. Other artists on this year's tentative lineup include Nels Cline, Rafiq Bhatia, Debo Band, Vijay Iyer, and many many more. The full tentative lineup (with still more TBA) is below.

The free 2012 Oval Lawn Series launches in NYC's Madison Square Park (between 5th and Madison Ave and 23rd and 26th St.) tonight (6/20) at 7PM with James Maddock and His Band and will continue every Wednesday through Aug. 8.
