As you may know, New York hardcore vets CIV are playing a hometown show with Grey Area right before Riot Fest Chicago on September 10 at the Marlin Room at Webster Hall. Since we last spoke, openers were announced: Danny Diablo's band Crown of Thornz and Too Many Voices, the current band fronted by Eric Svirida of short-lived '90s group The Last Crime. Tickets for that show are still available.
Too Many Voices formed in 2010 and at the time also had members of Kill Your Idols, Texas is the Reason, 108 and Jets to Brazil (they no longer have those members). This year they put out their first full length, South of Sunrise. They'll be a good fit on that CIV show -- the album's in a similar melodic hardcore vein to them, H2O, Dag Nasty, and more. Check out a full stream below.
In related news, Walter Schreifels, who wrote most of the first CIV album and played with Civ in Gorilla Biscuits, plays NYC the very next day with his psych band Dead Heavens at Union Pool (9/11). Tickets for that show are on sale now. Their last show here was in late August with Dick Dale.

Anthony "Civ" Civarelli's post-Gorilla Biscuits band CIV only play shows rarely these days, so it was exciting when they were announced for Riot Fest Chicago 2015. Before they head over there though, they'll squeeze in a hometown show with fellow NYC band Grey Area, the short-lived late '90s/early '00s band with members of Warzone, Kill Your Idols and more. The show happens September 10 at The Marlin Room at Webster Hall, one day before CIV's Riot Fest set. Tickets go on sale Friday (7/24) at 10 AM.

Late '70s UK Oi! originators Cockney Rejects and '80s LA punks Youth Brigade are teaming up for a North American tour this February. The tour hits NYC on February 22 at Music Hall of Williamsburg with long-running NYC punk band Murphy's Law and Long Island's The Templars. Tickets for the MHOW show go on AmEx presale today (10/31) at noon with a general on-sale starting Friday (11/2) at noon. All tour dates are listed below.
Speaking of long running punk bands, as mentioned, the Bouncing Souls are doing their annual holiday shows at The Stone Pony (which survived Hurricane Sandy) from December 26 to 29. Since we last spoke, the openers for those shows have been announced. On 12/26 it's Paint It Black, The Curse, and Go! for the Throat; on 12/27 it's Man Overboard, Trapped Under Ice, and Born Annoying; on 12/28 it's The Casualties, Grey Area, and Team Vibes; and on 12/29 it's Barstool Prophets, Forgetters (who also have a new album and a Brooklyn show on the way), Make Do and Mend, and Wet Witch. Tickets for those shows are on sale now.
