After a somewhat disastrous fifth edition of Beach Goth that resulted in lawuits, The Growlers ditched the festival name and Santa Ana Observatory location, regrouped and started a new Halloween Weekend festival in Los Angeles. With the “6” in the title, The Growlers clearly saw this as a continuation and, by most accounts, the first day of the festival was a return to the good times of sunnier Beach Goth days. The Saturday kickoff (10/28) featured sets from Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Modest Mouse, Danny Brown, Guided by Voices, Juvenile, Sly & Robbie, The Warlocks, La Luz, Personal & The Pizzas, a headlining set from The Growlers, and lots more. The Halloween spirit was in effect, too, with lots of costumes both onstage (The Growlers were zombies; La Luz played as nuns) and off.
