Hate Eternal

Plenty of great metal, hardcore, and other heavy NYC shows are getting announced all the time. We don't get a chance to write about all of them, so here's a roundup of some of the recently-announced stuff coming up:

An all-around good death metal tour is happening this fall with Hate Eternal, Misery Index, Beyond Creation and Rivers of Nihil. It hits NYC on October 29 at The Studio at Webster Hall, and tickets go on sale Friday (9/4) at 10 AM. Headliners Hate Eternal are touring in support of their recently released Infernus LP on Season of Mist, which you can stream below.

UPDATE get ready for the tour by reading Joseph Schafer's interview with Hate Eternal's Erik Rutan over at Invisible Oranges. All tour dates are listed below.

In other death metal news, Joseph Schafer also interviewed Karl Sanders of Nile over at Invisible Oranges. IO also reviewed their new album What Should Not Be Unearthed, which dropped last week on Nuclear Blast (steam a track below). Nile's tour hits NYC on January 14 at Gramercy Theatre with Day of Doom. Tickets are on sale now.

And one last bit of death metal news: Horrendous will follow their much-loved 2014 album Ecydysis with Anareta on October 27 via Dark Descent. Lead single "Sum of All Failures" is out now and you can check it out below.

The hardcore-leaning tour of Twitching Tongues, Harm's Way, Homewrecker and Malice In The Palace hits NYC on November 28 at The Studio at Webster Hall. Tickets are on sale now.

For even more on the hardcore side, catch ACxDC, Meek Is Murder, Mary Todd and Lucid Terror on September 17 at the Acheron. Tickets are on sale.

Stoner rockers The Shrine will return to NYC on October 8 at Saint Vitus with garage rockers Dirty Fences and Big Truck. Tickets are on sale.

Indian Handcrafts

Another band in that sludgy/garagey realm, Indian Handcrafts, will release their new album Creeps on October 2 via Sargent House. You can check out the first single "It's Late Queeny" below. The band is heading on tour this fall with Kylesa and Inter Arma, hitting NYC on October 21 at Saint Vitus (tickets). We also caught Kylesa in NYC earlier this week with Cult of Luna. Check out pictures.

For something more classic, we recently got a new song from the new Slayer album Repentless, which drops 9/11 via Nuclear Blast. It's called "Cast The First Stone" and you can check it out below.

A lot's been going on the world of classic metal lately. The new Motorhead album just dropped last week (but more importantly we hope Lemmy gets well soon) and the new Iron Maiden album is coming this week. Black Sabbath just announced their "final" tour for 2016, including Madison Square Garden. Judas Priest will be on tour (with Mastodon) sooner than that.

The long Labor Day weekend is upon us, and there are a few evil ways you can celebrate in NYC. Old Man Gloom and Mare begin their sold-out two-night run at Saint Vitus tonight (9/3). DC's Pure Disgust play Acheron on Friday (9/4) with Protester, Stand Off, Chud and Burst of Rage. Then Creeping Dose are at Silent Barn on Saturday (9/5) with Torso, Narcoleptics and Wrung. J Mascis and King Tuff's stoner rock band Witch play The Wick on Sunday (9/6) with Carousel, The Bevis Frond, The Golden Grass and Worshipper.

Other recently-announced heavy shows: Liturgy, Bongzilla, The Saddest Landscape / Vattnet Viskar, Candiria, Cavity and Pentagram. Check out more in our last roundup.

We also just got new tunes from Windhand, Christian Mistress, Uncle Acid and Black Breath.

Speaking of Harm's Way, they're also touring the US after DW Fest Europe in continued support of this year's Rust. Harm's Way

Brutal Chicago hardcore four-piece Harm's Way are setting up to release their latest full-length, Rust, on March 10. The album is their first for Deathwish, and was recorded with Weekend Nachos' guitarist Andy Nelson and mixed by Converge guitarist Kurt Ballou. Harm's Way is streaming "Law of the Land" off the album now -- check it out below.

The band also has a massive international tour schedule lined up in support of the record. They're opening Code Orange's upcoming tour, and then going on a headlining run with Homewrecker and Discourse, as well as an extensive European tour late in the spring. The Code Orange tour doesn't stop in NYC, but you can catch Harm's Way's headlining tour on March 29 at Brooklyn Asylum (1269 Flushing Ave in Bushwick) with additional support from White Widows Pact and Icarus. No advance tickets for that show; $14 at the door.

All dates are listed, with the "Law of the Land" stream, below...

Like New York City contemporaries such as Agnostic Front and the Cro-Mags, the Crumbsuckers were one of the original purveyors of 1980s crossover: the bridging of metal and hardcore that temporarily united the two divergent tribes of metalheads and punks into one bloody unified mosh pit. Getting their start in 1983, the band were soon an integral part of New York's Lower East Side-based hardcore scene, cutting their teeth at the legendary dive A7 before moving on to CBGB's famed Sunday matinees, as they and the movement gained strength. [Allmusic]
Long Island crossover thrash vets The Crumbsuckers last reunited for their 20th anniversary in 2006, and they'll be regrouping yet again for this year's Black N' Blue Bowl, the annual NYC hardcore fest happening May 16 and 17 at Webster Hall.

Since we last spoke, more bands were added to BNB Bowl, including Candiria, Madball, Dave Smalley (performing Dag Nasty, Down By Law and All Songs), The Rival Mob, Fury of Five, Devil In Me and Booze & Glory. They join other previously-announced bands such as Sick Of It All (who also play NateFest). Ticket info still TBA. Updated lineup below.

In related news, Richmond, VA's United Blood Fest was announced for March 27 & 28, the weekend after NateFest. It happens at The Canal Club with Judge and Breakdown (who both played BNB Bowl 2013), plus Code Orange, Cold World, Terror, Rotting Out, Give, God's Hate, Heavy Chains and more. Full lineup below. Breakdown's only other announced show at the moment is opening night 1 of No Warning's reunion shows in NJ.

Sick Of It All at Rev25 (more by Rebecca Reed)

NYHC vets Sick Of It All have announced that they'll release their tenth album, The Last Act of Defiance, on September 30 (album art and tracklist below), and will play a hometown show soon after that on October 4 at Irving Plaza with fellow NYC punk vets H2O as well as Pennsylvania's Wisdom In Chains and White Collar Crime LLC. Tickets for that show are on sale now.

Meanwhile, if you're headed to Philly (or already there) for This Is Hardcore (which began yesterday, 7/24), you can also catch Wisdom In Chains there on Saturday (7/26). A ton of other great bands have still yet to play too, like Converge, Blacklisted, Title Fight, CIV, Bold, Nails, Madball (with guest ex-guitarist Matt Henderson making a special appearance), Power Trip and plenty more. Remaining day-by-day lineups for TIH, below.

If you're not headed to This Is Hardcore, you can have your own mini TIH celebration in NYC this weekend. Xibalba, who played the PA fest last night, play a free show Saturday (7/26) at Brooklyn Night Bazaar with Harm's Way, The Banner and Crushed (Trap Them and Coliseum just played the same venue). And, as discussed, UK vets Subhumans are coming over for TIH and playing Le Poisson Rouge on Sunday (7/27) with long-running NYHC band Sheer Terror, as well as White Collar Crime LLC (fka White Collar Crime) and Mischief Brew. Tickets for that show are still available.

SOIA and Sheer Terror's fellow veteran New York hardcore band Cro-Mags also recently announced a tour, NYC show at Saint Vitus included, which just went on sale.

SOIA LP info, TIH daily lineups and Madball's new video for "Born Strong", below...

The New England Metal & Hardcore Fest is returning to the Worcester Palladium from April 17 - 19, 2014 in Worcester, MA, and the initial lineup was recently announced. It includes Nails, Nile, Counterparts, All Out War, Cruel Hand, Harms Way, Suburban Scum, Naysayer, Reign Supreme, Fit For An Autopsy, Alpha & Omega, Slapshot and more. Tickets (3-day passes and individual day tickets) are on sale now. Full lineup below.

For long-running and ever-verbose American death metal institution Nile, that fest is part of their recently-announced 2014 North American tour. The tour will hit NYC at Stage 48 on April 20 (4/20) ((har har)). Tickets for that show go on sale December 14 at 10 AM. The band will play a selection of material from across their seven-album catalog, and support will be comprised of "three of the best local bands in every market." There's lots of good acts to choose from around here, so hopefully the openers won't be selected on the basis of their willingness to cooperate with pay-to-play ticketing schemes.

Check out the list of all dates and stream a tune from their 2012 album, At the Gates of Sethu, along with the initial New England Metal & Hardcore Fest lineup, below...

Negative Approach at Fun Fun Fun Fest (more by BBG)
Negative Approach

This is Hardcore returns to Philadelphia, PA for four days in August at Union Transfer (on 8/9) and Electric Factory (8/10 - 8/12). Both shows will have no barricades for you headwalkers/divers and in the case of Electric Factory, the venue will actually construct a stage in front of their usual stage (!) to get around the existing barricade. Now thats dedication/brutality.

As for the lineup, as usual the cast of hooligans gracing the stages of TIHC are a cast of notables, including Cro-Mags, Negative Approach, Gorilla Biscuits, Breakdown, Blacklisted, Killing Time, Nails, Ringworm, Gehenna and many many more. Full lineup is below and tickets go on sale on May 17th at noon.

Power Trip is part of said lineup, and reminder, the band will hit Acheron on May 15th as part of a string of East Coast dates. All tour dates are below.
