Gojira in the Studio
Gojira

Gojira returns with their new LP L'Enfant Sauvage, the French band's debut for Roadrunner Records (order yours). Close to four years in the making and due on June 26th, the title track is one of the first tastes of the record to slip past the goalie after recently surfacing at Pitchfork. Now "L'Enfant Sauvage" has been given the video treatment, and is available to watch for the first time below.

Gojira is currently touring the EU but after a month off of the road, they'll embark on a US tour supporting Dethklok and Lamb of God. That tour swings through NYC for a date with Roseland Ballroom on August 29th. Tickets are on sale. The band is also on board to play the Mayhem Festival Cruise on Dec 7 - 10 along with their tourmates Lamb of God, as well as Machine Head, Anthrax, Hatebreed, Kingdom of Sorrow and many more. Full tour dates are below.

The video for "L'Enfant Sauvage" is below, alongside a listing of all tour dates.

Gwar Crackathon

Troma leader Lloyd Kaufman, The Toxic Avenger, Hatebreed's Jamey Jasta, Our Lady of PMS, illustrator Tara Mcpherson, "Medical Marijuana activist and werewolf" Adam Green, and "Sexpert and Troll-Museum curator" Reverend Jen were the guests of Oderus Urungus at the MF Gallery in Brooklyn Friday night. The event streamed online though I tried to watch it for a bit and the UStream video quality was too low to be able to enjoy it. On Saturday Kembra Phaler and Andrew WK were among the guests. Dusen Dusen reports...

"i walked in as kembra phaler and oderus were finishing up their previous set, singing "take my breath away" or some other 80s jam that i cant remember. she was all dressed up in her usual garb (paint), but with clothes, which was weird...

...they pretty much got drunk and treated andrew wk like a piano bar. they sang songs by billy joel, the eagles, the beatles, and closed with john lennon's "give peace a chance," but instead "give crack a chance." the crack rock got tethered to my chair and it hit me in the back of the head at least 3 times. "

The pictures from the first night continue below....

Join the "Crack-Munity" and donate your hard-earned cash for a truly great cause...your entertainment future! With a final flourish, GWAR prepares to forever change the face of fund-raising, with their CRACK-A-THON 2010! With less than 24 hours left until the beginning of the all-free web-streaming event, the MF Gallery was the scene of laconic activity as drug-addled slaves lurched about, all seemingly clueless. But this final schedule of celebrity guests was nevertheless semi-enthusiastically announced!
The full schedule with guests and whole bunch of new tour dates (including that previously mentioned gig at Starland Ballroom), below...

fatalist

Consider this the "Swedish Death Metal" edition as we'll focus on a few bands that have taken cues from the great sounds of Entombed, Dismember, Grave, and so many others. As such, lets start off with Fatalist! Though they hail from the land of sun and surf (California), Fatalist have nailed the tone of early (Stockholm) Swedish Death Metal sound, putting their own spin in their songwriting. Featuring ex members of Exhumed, Fatalist's debut album The Depths of Inhumanity is out on 11/23 via Ibex Moon and for a taste of the killer riffs that the band has cooked up, dig on "Internal Misery" above.

Lets get it out of the way, Nirvana 2002 is not a boxset from a certain Seattle band. In fact, Nirvana 2002 is the name of a lost Swedish Death Metal band who will finally release their full recorded output via Relapse Records, Recordings 89 - 91. The band that featured vocalist/guitarist Orvar Säfström (ex-Entombed) have released the "Mourning (Projections of a Stained Mind)" MP3, available for download above after it recently premiered on Decibel. If you love the sickening Swedish Death Metal buzzsaw sound, these long lost tracks are a welcome surprise. Orvar Säfström recently discussed his top 6 favorite Swedish Death Metal albums.

Much like Fatalist, Gravehill is also a sickening early death metal worship act from California. Gravehill's Rites Of The Pentagram LP is out NOW via Enucleation and the title track is available for download above. The band recently played the NJ Death Fest along with Acheron, who are releasing their latest LP and first in six years, The Final Conflict: Last Days Of God, on Ibex Moon.

Mala Suerte doom away on their latest crusty, dimly lit LP, The Shadow Tradition, available via Hellride Music. Download a pair of tracks from that Austin band's LP above. Mala Suerte have been around since the 90s and released a few LPs of their filthy Grief-like psychotic doom as well as a split with Japan's Coffins.

A Mala Suerte video for "Non Servium", Coalesce, Ghast, Eyehategod, Fuck The Facts, Zoroaster, Graveyard, thoughts on the new Slayer, and more as TWIM continues...

You should see his Vampire Weekend tattoo!
Earth Crisis Tats

The Black And Blue Bowl (aka Superbowl of Hardcore) is back at Studio B in 2009, with a lineup heavy on reunited and classic hardcore bands and headlined by the recently reunited Earth Crisis who, for my money, peaked with the line "A FIRESTORM TO PURIFYYYYYYYYYYYY!". Beware, similar to the previous statement, the following announcement CONTAINS LOTS OF CAPITAL LETTERING:

Gojira's The Way Of All Flesh
GOJIRA

Gojira has finally announced news on it's latest punch to the gut, The Way of All Flesh! The much anticipated follow-up to From Mars to Sirius will drop on October 13th on Prosthetic, and look for the band to hit Europe with In Flames in late Sept/Oct (tour dates below). Joe Duplantier played on the Cavalera Conspiracy album, who recently played Irving Plaza with The Dillinger Escape Plan.

As we discussed before, Intronaut are on tour with Behold The Arctopus and Mouth Of The Architect (Deadsea and Wetnurse are also on the colossal NYC bill), packin heat from the forthcoming Prehistoricisms on Sept 16th. Check out "The Literal Black Cloud", available for download above!

KEN mode dropped their new record, Mennonite on their own label, Arctodus Records. Pick it up here. The follow-up to their 2006 release on Escape Artist, Reprisal, KEN mode draws from the glory days of Am-Rep and noise punk, adding a brute force Mastodon-type approach. We have "The Romanticist" from Mennonite available for download above, but be careful, it's mean & nasty.

much, much more below...

Type O Negative (Gonzuuh)
Type O Negative

Black nail polish, camo shorts, AND denim vests? Dark lords Type O Negative will hit the road in May with kings-of-the-breakdown Hatebreed and goat-horders 3 Inches Of Blood. Tickets for a New York date at Terminal 5 are not on sale yet, but a Type O Negative show at Starland Ballroom on May 5th goes on sale Friday, March 28th at noon. Tickets are also currently being offered on pre-sale for select shows (not NYC so far). Tour Dates and videos for "September Sun" and "Trial Of Champions" below....

Speaking of Jamey Jasta's band, he's got another one as well with the six-string king of N'Awlins Sludge, Kirk Windstein of the thoroughly awesome Crowbar and Down, called Kingdom of Sorrow. It's out now, and it sounds pretty much what you would think it sounds like.... Jamey "crooning" over Kirk's doom heaviness. Check out KoS jamming on the Crowbar classic "All I Had (I Gave)" below.

UPDATE: Kingdom of Sorrow have some shows coming up too, and it ends up.....they're opening for Type O Negative. All dates below.....
