Abe Vigoda @ the Whitney in 2009 (more by Tim Griffin)

Abe Vigoda arrive back in NYC tonight, Friday, August 20th, for a special show at Cake Shop. It's a "Nacho Party" presented by Pop Montreal and will also feature sets by fellow Californian Hawnay Troof, Hollerado and Uncle Bad Touch (members of Priestess).
Abe Vigoda will also play Brooklyn while they're here. You can catch them Saturday night, August 21st, at Death by Audio again with Canadian band Hollerado, and also with Portland's purple rhinestone eagle (who play the Charleston Friday night) and Brooklyn's passive aggressor.
From there Abe Vigoda go back home to play some shows with Cap'n Jazz and then Cold Cave leading up to FYF Fest in LA on September 4th. In October they head overseas where they then tour with No Age. All dates and Hollerado's new video for "Fake Drugs", below...

92YTribeca (200 Hudson Street, New York, NY) is hosting two music shows tonight (1/24). The first is at 8PM, is free, and will feature a rare performance by Boston's Dave Godowsky. The second is at 8:30, a benefit for Showpaper, and is being brought to Manhattan by none other than Brooklyn's Todd P (and Manhattan's Less Artists More Condos, and Showpaper, and everyone else involved in promoting it). Asa Ransom, The Muggabears, Sigmund Droid, and Nymph are all playing the $10/all-ages bill.

Hawnay Troof's new Beastie Boys-influenced album "Islands of Ayle" (out 9/9) features guests Randy Randall (of No Age), Mary Pearson (of High Places), Bretzel Goring (of Stereo Total), Annie Lewandowski (of The Curtains), Jenny Hoyston (of Erase Errata), Jamie Stewart (of Xiu Xiu), and Carla Bozulich (of Evangelista). A bonus disc of the remix album "Remixes of Ayle" comes with first edition of the CD. It features remixes from Xiu Xiu, Disaster (Brendan Fowler), Soft Pink Truth (Drew Daniel of Matmos), Mae Shi, Eve Massacre, Ssion, Lucky Dragons and Club Murder. Hawnay Troof (Vice Cooler) is from Oakland, CA. Tonight's Brooklyn, NY show at Death By Audio is the record release party. Vivian Girls, Urxed (Rob from High Places) and City Center (Fred Saturday Looks Good To Me) are also on the bill. At 8pm there will be free self defense lessons for women courtesy of the Center for Anti-Violence Education.
