A new Madvillain track, "Papermill," is online to stream and download. The Madlib's wirey '70s cop chase sample and top-form wordplay from DOOM are both good signs that the pair is putting in some serious effort to follow-up 2004's Madvillainy. The label writes that the song will be on the new album, which is still a work in progress.
The song is online as part of the Adult Swim singles series, which has been distributing tracks weekly. Madvillian was the second song, and there's already one from Bonnie "Prince" Billy and Matt Sweeney. On the way is music from Black Lips, Freddie Gibbs, Killer Mike, High on Fire, Cults and Washed Out.
To measure just how long the new Madvillain is taking in Madlib-years (remember, he already put out his own part 2 of their debut), consider the fact that Stones Throw gave the beatmaker his own label imprint, Madlib Invazion, in early '10, and that's now in the process of releasing one Madlib CD a month for 12 months. The most recent edition, Madlib Medicine Show #5: History Of The Loop Digga, 1990-2000, collects "Madlib's previously unreleased, made-for-cassette 90s work" under the Loop Digga name (and comes with a comic book to boot).
Madlib's "OJ Simpson" collaborator Guilty Simpson recently released a track with Bumps, the beatmaking trio of Tortoise drummers John McEntire, John Herndon and Dan Bitney. You can get that above. The OJ Simpson album is out now on Stones Throw.
All Tortoise dates and some classic Madvillain videos are below...

With the Snakes For The Divine infiltration on full steam, High on Fire played to an uber-packed Gramercy Theater on Friday (3/9). Part of a greater US tour, serious firepower came from the riff battalions of Priestess, Black Cobra, and Bison BC. The sold-out crowd were treated to recent material from all performers (three of the four have albums that have been released in the recent past), with Bison BC expecting their punisher Dark Ages on 4/13 (Tuesday). Much like 2008's Quiet Earth, the new Bison LP is a burner, skillfully meshing moments of stoner rock, thrash, and even crust punk to create a record to raise a beer to, if only you can stop headbanging. Bangover indeed.
Though all bands pride themselves on huge riffs delivered at exceptional volume, it seems that for a short time, that was muzzled:
Mr. Pike's guitar sounded as if it were coming from someone's living-room stereo. Suddenly High on Fire seemed small and delicate. This wasn't how it was supposed to go down. It took half the set to get the mix right, through to the new 'Fire, Flood & Plague,' whose four-bar chordal riff includes a couple of half-step waverings, like the cracks in a devotional singer's wail, and whose guitar solo was sprayed and gestural and fantastic, ignoring the moving harmony. -[New York Times]More pictures from the show are below with current US dates...

Mike Hill, who wasn't the only guitarist in Tombs at SXSW...
While I was thrashing my rear off between the two stages at Mohawk on 3/17, Samantha Marble was also nodding away at the Relapse showcase at Red 7 down the street. She managed to capture shots of Kill The Client, Howl, Mammoth Grinder, Graves of Valor, and Tombs who were playing with a second guitarist (!) before scooting back to Mohawk to catch High on Fire (like I did). Ah, the lure of the Pike is just too great.
High on Fire's new album, Snakes For The Divine is out NOW, and the band is hitting the road with Bison BC, Priestess, and Black Cobra is celebration. Tickets are still available for the 4/9 date at Gramercy.
Tombs are scheduled to team up with a dream team of heavy music greats on 6/12, as Eyehategod, Nachtmystium, Brutal Truth, and Black Anvil will team up at Europa as part of a BV/Osiris production. Tickets are on sale monday (3/29) at noon.

Matt Pike of High on Fire @ the Mohawk
Want to make my life simple? Put two killer showcases in the same venue. Well, unfortunately it wasn't three showcases in the same venue (Relapse was going on over at Red 7 - pics coming soon). Following the big bang of the BrooklynVegan day party at Emo's, I hightailed it over to the Mohawk on 3/17 (right next door to our quieter official BrooklynVegan showcase going on at Club DeVille...) (editor's note: ...that was often drowned out by the metal sounds blaring over the wall while bands like the The Middle East were playing soft sets...) for a double bill of mayhem with the Action PR Showcase on the outdoor stage and the Prosthetic Records showcase on the indoor. The night at the Mohawk show was marked by competing headlining sets: the great Landmine Marathon (who played the BV day party that day) and none other than High On Fire (one of their only appearances at the fest).
Also along for the ride were such notable greats as The Gates of Slumber, Withered (who also played Emo's), Zoroaster, Naam, Priestess, The Funeral Pyre, and many others. Not a single bad apple in the bunch. Of those, I had never seen The Funeral Pyre or Clinging To The Trees of A Forest Fire - both were impressive. TFP did blackened death with such intensity, it was hard to not be compelled to head nod. Clinging did abstract and atonal grindcore in the best way.
Although I missed Landmine Marathon (who would probably be in the running), best performance of the night goes to High On Fire who blazed through new material and old including the epic "Baghdad" (!) from their debut The Art of Self Defense. As their set progressed, it seemed that the band got looser on their instruments, and as a result, much tighter and more cohesive.
In related news, High On Fire recently dropped the new video for "Frost Hammer". View it, as well as other vids and some pics from the epic show, below...

Jacob Bannon of Converge speaks softly
Gene Simmons is fond of saying some bands get it and some don't.The review comes from the 10/27 Boston date of the Mastodon, Dethklok, Converge, and High On Fire tour. The four bands played Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC two days later (10/29), and then again at Hammerstein the night after that (10/30). More pictures from that last NYC show, below...
Dethklok, the death metal band based on the popular Adult Swim "Metalocalypse" cartoon, definitely gets it.
At Tuesday's stunning show at a packed-to-the-rafters House of Blues - the first of a two-night stand - Dethlok ringmaster Brendon Small and his metal compatriots played in the darkness, the better to provide the frantic soundtrack to the videos of the cartoon band that were shown on a screen behind them.
It was a mesmerizing and intense audio/visual experience that simultaneously celebrated and poked fun at the genre. How else do you explain fret-snapping songs with such titles as "Burn the Earth" and "Birthday Dethday"?
...Mastodon preceded Dethklok with mind-bending videos of its own. The Atlanta band performed its acclaimed new album "Crack the Skye" in its entirety. A mix of psychedelic [
, satanic] and interstellar imagery splashed across the video screen as the band tore through space-metal opuses "Oblivion" and "Divinations." ...
The bill also included influential Boston hardcore group Converge, which got the night's first circle pit going with the scathing "The Broken Vow" from 2001's "Jane Doe." Inevitably, crowd surfing ensued. Vocalist Jacob Bannon even tossed his microphone to fans at one point for a good, old-fashioned hardcore gang chant. -[Boston Herald]

Matt Pike of High On Fire
Mastodon, Dethklok, Converge and High On Fire are on tour. Last night (10/29) they played the first show of two night stint at Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC. The second is tonight (10/30). It is sold out.
High on Fire were on stage early, REAL early. 6:30, actually. It didnt matter one iota though, because the band barreled through their set, including a new song from their upcoming, unnamed LP. As expected, the new joint smoked, much like "Waste of Tiamat", "Fury Whip", "Rumors of War", and many others from their mostly Death Is This Communion set. The band played the very large room with the same power I've seen them bring to small clubs and basements. Hammerstein must have been 3/4 or more full by the time they finished the set, and I had a sense that the masses felt the same energy.
Converge followed to a mostly apathetic crowd. It was a shame, as Converge were absolutely amazing, and with more energy than I had ever seen from them; it was almost as if they were fueled by negative vibes. Jacob Bannon spent a good portion of the set thanking the crowd for watching them, spending the rest of the set spazzing out to killer tracks like "Eagles Become Vultures", "Concubine", "Effigy", and new faves like "Dark Horse" from Axe To Fall. Bannon must have been quite a handful as a little tot; the tattoed vocalist zipped back and forth across the stage for almost the entirety of their set.
Unfortunately, I skeedaddled shortly after Converge, so I missed both Mastodon and the headliner Dethklok's visual-heavy sets, but pictures (NSFW?) from all four bands (and Dethklok's setlist) are below....
"Atlanta progressive metallers MASTODON have confirmed that they are working with composer John Powell and director Jimmy Hayward on the score to "Jonah Hex", the comic-book Western/horror film starring Josh Brolin in the lead role, with support from John Malkovich, Megan Fox, Will Arnett, Michael Fassbender and Michael Shannon. The movie is based on the DC comic series about a horribly scarred antihero who is "a rough-and-tumble gunslinger and part-time bounty hunter whose adventures always ended in blood."More dates have been added to the Adult Swim tour featuring Mastodon, Converge, High on Fire, and Dethklok. One of those new dates is October 29th at Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC, which is one day before the previously announced date at the same venue. Tickets for the new date are now on Ticketmaster presale (password = mastoklok). General sale starts Friday. All dates below...
MASTODON guitarist/vocalist Brent Hinds makes a cameo appearance in the film, which is being directed by former Pixar animator Jimmy Hayward for a June 18, 2010 release." [Blabbermouth]

Asphyx's Death... The Brutal Way is due out in the US on August 18th, but it's shipping NOW at the Ibex Moon site. It's a sickening death/doom trip that's part down-tuned riff fest, part beastly conjuring, but 100% heavy heavy heavy. Recommended for fans of old school death metal, Entombed, Dismember, Autopsy, and the like. Check out one of the tracks, "Scorbutics", available for download above.
Gods & Queens currently have a new split 7" on the way via Hawthorne Street with the mighty Medusa, and have taken the time to drop off a killer cover of the Quicksand classic, "Head To Wall"! Download that above.
Weedeater have announced that Steve Albini will record their new album, which will be available in Spring 2010.
Swallow Your Teeth is the end of a long road for Richmond's The Catalyst, as the band has dropped multiple releases over their seven year history but THIS is their first LP! The noise-core merchants are currently streaming their Swallow Your Teeth at Scene Point Blank, but you can download the sick opening track, "I Hate The Future", above! The Catalyst have a few shows in the very near future, including The Glass Door on August 14th and a TBA show lined up for Aug 15th in Manhattan. Full tour dates are below. Pick up a copy of Swallow Your Teeth here.
Attention hardcore fans! Lambgoat is reporting that the legendary Disembodied will release Psalms of Sheol on Prime Directive in August, comprised of thirteen tracks of rare and unreleased material that includes the Existence In Suicide MCD and the Confession 7". Disembodied has reunited and sporadically played shows recently.
Baroness has a new album on the way, which we knew, but we now can attach a name to that effort Blue Record! The LP was recorded in Dallas, Texas with producer/engineer John Congleton (Explosions In The Sky, Black Mountain) and will hit the racks in October. Meanwhile, dig on the cover art (to the left) and the tracklisting below!
First of all, The Endless Blockade would like it be known that they "have not broken up". As a matter of fact, they finally released their split with Agoraphobic Nosebleed and have a split with The Bastard Noise out soon (stream the new BN track here). The boys in TEB "just figured another band would give us even less time in our lives to do anything else". That new band? Slaughter Strike.
Candlelight records has signed the mighty midwestern band The Atlas Moth, whose new album A Glorified Piece of Blue Sky will be released on Oct 6th. The band dropped their massive EP, Pray for Tide, on Witch Trial last year.
Planks have reissued their 2008 split with Tombs as the "European edition" featuring artwork by Mike Wohlberg. If you never got a hold of the Black Box Recordings version, it is highly recommended. Pick that up through the either of the bands on tour. Meanwhile, Planks recently made their massive S/T LP (where these two songs came from) available for free download! Pick that up above. Mike Hill of Tombs has posted all of the lyrics from the massive Winter Hours via his blog.
Crucial Blast is set to release Overmars's 2008 LP Born Again. The LP combines electronics, ambient soundscapes, Swans industrial dirge, and the thunder of Neurosis to create a different and powerful take on post-metal. The band is scheduled to hit the US with the mighty Battlefields, logging a pair of dates in NYC: Europa on August 16th and September 3rd at The Charleston. This will destroy.

Can you mosh to death metal performed by cartoons? (more by Zach Dilgard)
I think it was Cookie Monster who said "One Of Things Is Not Like The Other Thing". My thoughts exactly. In a somewhat of a head-scratching lineup, Mastodon, Dethklok, Converge, and High On Fire will hit the road together in October logging shows across our great nation including Hammerstein Ballroom on 10/30. DC gets the Halloween show. Tickets for the NYC show are on sale August 7th, with a few pre-sales happening before that.
"Dethklok is both a fictional death metal band featured in the Adult Swim animated program Metalocalypse, created by Brendon Small and Tommy Blacha, and a virtual band created to perform the band's music in live shows. The band is sometimes cited as an example of "comedy rock" on par with bands such as GWAR and Spinal Tap." [Wiki]Not surprisingly, this tour is billed as "Adult Swim Presents". Dethklok will release their new album, Dethalbum II on 9/9/9.
Meanwhile, High On Fire recently announced that they will begin work on the follow-up to Death Is This Communion, for a 2010 release date. On October 29th, Mastodon will hit Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, for a night of non-riffery, bloated psychedelia, and bad jokes. Set your DVRs! Converge is currently working on new material.

Matt Pike with High on Fire @ Scion Rock Fest (more by Steven Brown)
It's the whole chicken or the egg syndrome. Does Matt Pike's mischievious snarling smile come from High On Fire's on-stage persona, or is it those riffs that coax the demons out of him?
The best people to ask may be Matt Pike's high school friends and bandmates in Sleep, the 90s stoner/doom favorites who eventually splintered into Om (bassist Al Cisneros & Chris Hakius). Though largely (and unfortunately) unknown throughout their tenure, Sleep managed to crank out three LPs including their post-humous swan song, Dopesmoker, now considered a landmark recording of Stoner Rock. The band recently agreed to reunite for two nights of performances at ATP's Fans Strike Back (May 8-10, 2009) (we interviewed Al Cisneros about that here).
After the untimely demise of Sleep, Matt Pike took his buzzsaw guitar tone and applied it to a hundred mile an hour freight train that was more virtuosic Motorhead than Black Sabbath, christening the new project High On Fire. Over the course of four LPs, a relentless touring cycle, three record labels and as many bassists (including Joe Preston and their current bassist Jeff Matz of Zeke), High on Fire has established themselves as heavyweights, most recently completing a touring cycle on Megadeth's Gigantour.
During Scion Rock Fest at the end of Feburary, we sat down with Matt Pike to discuss what's next for High On Fire, as well as the impending and short-lived (he promises!) reunion with Sleep happening this weekend in the UK!
So you recently signed with Koch Records... what's going on with the follow-up to Death Is This Communion... when can we expect it?
I dunno, I'm running a little behind deadline but it's for a good reason, dude. It's gonna be badass. You know you can't force things. It should be out by the end of summer, I'm hoping Halloween-ish or some shit. But I cant really tell until I've recorded/mastered it.
Yeah we have tons of material. It's just making it perfect... you know there are like 3 ½ hours of riffs that you have to sort through... figure out what's good what's bad... Gets crazy!
Amadou & Mariam @ All Points West 2008 (more by Kyle Dean Reinford)
The contest to guess the lineup of this year's All Point West festival continues. I honestly don't even know the lineup yet - I'll be receiving it right before I post it at 7am Monday morning.
Will Coldplay be on the lineup? A lot of people seem convinced based on the band's current tour schedule (which you can see in its entirety below). If they are playing the fest, well, that will be weird.
UPDATE: yes, Coldplay are in fact playing the festival
Amadou and Mariam played All Points West last year, are touring the US with Coldplay in July, and have some headlining dates scheduled in June (including a show at Webster Hall on June 8th). The Mali duo was also just added to this year's Bonnaroo lineup.
Also recently added to Bonnaroo (music and comedy): Public Enemy, Ani Difranco, the Itals and Wailing Souls, Murs, Shadows Fall, High on Fire, Janelle Monáe, Pretty Lights, Tony Rice, Passion Pit, Hockey, White Rabbits, Jimmy Fallon, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, John Oliver, Rob Riggle, Rory Albanese, Michael Ian Black, Michael Showalter, Aziz Ansari, Kristen Schaal, Arj Barker, Todd Barry, Nick Thune, Wayne Federman, Nick Kroll, Kurt Braunholer, Amy Schumer, Kumail Nanjiani and Pete Holmes. Kylesa @ Music Hall Of Williamsburg (More By Tim Griffin)
Do you enjoy the hard rockin sounds of southern metal but have an un-natural fear of crust punk legends? Want to see a certifiably badass band tear you a new one in a room the size of someone's basement? Well friends, you are in luck! It looks like Kylesa have scheduled a show at The Charleston (!!!) with Tombs (!!), Tournament, and Black Anvil(!) as part of Hardcore Night on Jan 28th, the day before they take the stage opening for Amebix (tickets for that show here). Charleston flyer and Kylesa's full tour schedule below. That includes the previously mentioned dates with The Haunted.
In other Kylesa news, the band recently announced their new album Static Tensions, due in March on Prosthetic with 20 Buck Spin doing the honors on the vinyl tip. Look for the vinyl to be released in two versions: a regular edition with a single LP with an eight-page LP-size booklet and a "deluxe", a limited-to-500 gatefold 2xLP on colored vinyl mastered at 45 RPM! Fellow Savannah madman John Dyer Baizley of Baroness will do the
artwork honors. That's it to the right.
Kylesa also announced they are on board for the holy shit fest, I mean, the Scion Rock Fest at The Masquerade in Atlanta, GA on Feb 28th with Mastodon, Neurosis, High on Fire, Boris, 1349, Cryptopsy, Torche, Nachtmystium, Wolves in the Throne Room, Baroness, Harvey Milk, Zoroaster, Withered, Krallice, Toxic Holocaust, Skeletonwitch, Rwake, A Storm of Light, Warbringer, Salome, Suidakra, Tyr, and Alestorm. That shit is FREE. More info forthcoming.
Kylesa, as well as Rwake, Zoroaster, and many other luminaries, will be featured in Slow Southern Steel, a documentary profiling the southern metal scene. Details about screenings up north are sketch, but we'll let you know if anything arises. Slow Southern Steel is directed by CT, aka the razorblade throat behind Rwake.
Skeletonwitch will be here on Sunday 1/11 with Cannabis Corpse and Attake. Attake is also playing the Amebix/Kylesa show.

Asbestosdeath started life as trio consisting of Al Cisneros on bass, Chris Hakius on drums, and Tom Choi on guitar. Matt Pike later joined as a second guitarist. They recorded two 7"s: their first ("Unclean", 1990) was self released (Asbestos Records) and a second 7' ("Dejection," 1990) was released later that year by Profane Existence. Choi left Asbestosdeath to form Noothgrush after the release of the second 7". The band recruited Justin Marler to replace Choi and changed their name to Sleep. - [Wikipedia]High On Fire recently announced that they are working on their new album for their new label, Koch Records. Cattle Decapitation have announced dates in support of their new record, The Harvest Floor due on 1/20/09. Supported by Psyopus, Book Of Black Earth, and Gigan, full tour dates are below, but no NYC just yet.
Adding insult on top of insult to injury, Maryland Death Fest have added powerviolence bad-asses Despise You (with Phil Vera of Crom), as well as grinders Pigsty. This is on top of Mayhem, Bolt Thrower, Enslaved and soooo many others... Unfortunately, Repulsion have cancelled their appearance.
Need a fix of fun, skull-splitting hardcore? Vitamin X have dropped their new record, Full Scale Assault on Tankcrimes and it is one awe-inspiring slab of lightning riffery and old-school hardcore punk produced by none other than Steve Albini at Electrical Audio Studios. Sporting ultra-suh-weeeet artwork by John Baizley of Baroness, the band has been kind enough to drop off a pair of MP3s from the record... check out "Deal With it" featuring John Brannon of Negative Approach and "You Suck" downloadable above and pick up the album here.
How many times has a headliner you dug dropped off a bill, and you were actually pleased with the results? In a bit of shuffling, Doomriders have dropped off their bill with Tombs at Union Pool on 12/20 (frown), BUT Bloodhorse (who are working on a new record), Keelhaul(!), and Acid Tiger (Ben from Cave-in, Converge) have been added! So Keelhaul in NYC, huh? Exciting, and it sounds like they have more than just the show on their agenda...
We are going to Brooklyn to record another cd with Andrew Schneider in December. Yee haw.-[Keelhaul myspace]NOICE! Meanwhile, look for Tombs to play a show at Death By Audio on Dec 6th, play a few shows opening for Don Caballero at both Maxwell's and Europa, and embark on a short tour in the new year with Dysrhythmia. Full Keelhaul and Tombs dates are below.
Doomers My Dying Bride have revealed details of their new album, For Lies I Sire due in 2009 via Peaceville! Spanning nine tracks and recorded with producer Mags, vocalist Aaron Stainhorpe recently discussed the new record with Beyond The Dark Horizon.
Saros, the Bay Area blackened prog metal band contructed from members of the almighty Weakling and Amber Asylum, will drop their new album Acrid Plains on Profound Lore 2/17/09. Album art is below and check out the new MP3, "Reversion" available for download above.
Mammoth Grinder are scheduled to rage through the tri-state in the new year. The trio will be in town on Jan 3rd to double up.. playing shows at ABC No Rio (matinee) AND The Charleston (night) in support of their long-player Rage & Ruin and No Results 7" due together on Assassinated Records. Alternating between thundering doom and crusty hardcore, check out heavily doom-oriented "God is Stuck in a Black Hole " from Rage & Ruin, downloadable above.
Gracial death-doomers Hooded Menace are responsible for the massive Fulfill The Curse on Razorback Records. It's out NOW and it's absolutely frightening.. highly reccomended for fans of Coffins and death-doom in particular. Check out the track "Grasp Of The Beastwoman" from Fulfill The Curse and pray for your own safety that these Finns never make it to the US... it'll be a massacre.

Sleep in Germany, 1993 (permission from Al Cisneros)
Sleep departed from this Earth 'round 1996, and not with a bang, but a whimper. In 1995, the future members of Om and High On Fire began work on their third LP, the follow-up to their highly-acclaimed Holy Mountain. Upon completion, Sleep delvered their new album, entitled Dopesmoker to their label, London Records, who deemed it "unmarketable". Undeterred, the band headed back to the studio and reemerged with Jerusalem, a leaner version of Dopesmoker with re-written lyrics. Again, London Records refused and as a result, Sleep disbanded.
Jerusalem AND Dopesmoker have since seen the light of day, and in that time the legend of Sleep has grown by leaps and bounds.
Since it was announced that Sleep would reunite for the ATP's The Fans Strike Back Festival, fans have been clamoring to hear more details about the reunion, as well as the reasons behind it and whether they would play any additional shows. Luckily, we were able to corner Al Cisneros of shortly after his tour of Europe with Om to discuss some of these issues as well as shed some more light on Om, Shrinebuilder, and High On Fire's new album!
When I interviewed you in September, were the plans already in the works, or did the ATP folks corner you at the festival and start to nail it down then?

Al Cisneros & Matt Pike of Sleep in High School 1990
BV: If you got a call from Matt Pike and Chris [Hakius] today to reunite for a show or two, would you be into reforming Sleep? That interview was conducted 42 days ago. Today comes word that, Al Cisneros DID indeed get a call and WILL reform doom titans Sleep to perform their classic mid-90s touchstone, Holy Mountain as well as "highlights from Dopesmoker and more"! Al Cisneros (Om, Shrinebuilder). Matt Pike (High On Fire, Kalas). Chris Hakius (ex-Om). Together.
Al Cisneros: Reforming? No.
Sleep will share the stage with Devo, Spiritualized, and Grails at ATP UK's The Fans Strike Back in Minehead on May 8th-10th, 2009, playing two nights which will be a "world exclusive that will never be repeated". DAMMMIT! Ugh. Anyway, what does "The Fans Strike Back" mean?
For this festival we are reviving something we did in 2007; asking the people that come to the festival to decide who plays! So half of the lineup is chosen by us (ATP) and the other half by you. Everyone that buys a ticket will get a chance to vote for 10 acts they would like to appear at the festival, and we will be compiling charts of the results and approaching acts to see if they are available to play the festival...ATP are also playing host to the Melvins / Mike Patton curated Nightmare before Christmas on Dec 5-7th.
Voting will commence in just over 2 weeks on Monday 17th November.
In other ridiculously-awesome-American-doom-bands-that-are-not-reuniting-in-America-news, Al Cisneros's Shrinebuilder bandmate Wino is getting Saint Vitus back together at Roadburn.
Om is currently touring Europe. Tour dates and some videos are below...

In a heavy music equivalent of bodyblow-bodyblow-uppercut, Baroness, announced a show with Coliseum and Minsk at the Bowery Ballroom on November 22nd, part of a greater east coast tour that also includes a show at Maxwell's in Hoboken. Bowery tickets are on sale.
Baroness is about to leave on a tour with Genghis Tron that will take them through Canada before sweeping back down to the US to join the Opeth & High On Fire tour that just so happens to hit Nokia Theatre in NYC without Baroness, but with the mighty Nachtmystium, this Thursday, September 18th - tickets are still available for that.
Coliseum recently scheduled another mega-tour of their own with Torche & Clouds.
Minsk and Trouble played earlier this week at both Music Hall of Williamsburg and Knitting Factory.

Opeth live at Ruisrock 2008 (jsantala)
You thought Metal Masters was good? What about Neurosis / Mastodon / A Storm Of Light? Chew on this... The interwebs are going apey (guilty as charged) with the rumors of an Opeth / High On Fire / Baroness / Nachtmystium tour and now Blabbermouth has released a set of UNCONFIRMED tour dates, which we have now mostly confirmed. See below.
Patience, NYCers. I am sure NYC will be included, or at least that's what Akerfeldt said in May.
On a Cryptopsy-adding-a-keyboard-player note (aka please don't let it be true), rumors of a Opeth & Dream Theater collaboration are heating up in the wake of their participation in Progressive Nation tour. A partnership was actually discussed more than TWO YEARS AGO and confirmed by the band on May 11, 2006. Not sure if this is the same thing, but look for something to be announced and released soon. Tour dates below....
