Just saw that tweet for the first time via Hot Chip while looking for info on Hot Chip's new album. As you know, Lana Del Rey played SNL this past weekend (Hipster Runoff has since renamed his website in her honor). Bon Iver will hopefully do better on February 4th. Maybe LCD Soundsystem will get to play SNL if they ever reunite. For now we can make due by watching them in the documentary about their last show ever.
As mentioned, Al Doyle's new band New Build have two shows coming up at Mercury Lounge, one of which is on AmEx presale now (the other is sold out).

Yea, we know the word "hipster" is played out. That's exactly why we need to pick a Hipster Champ of the past decade. So we can lay the whole damn thing to rest. Your candidates, below. Vote. If you want. [Gawker]Their list of choices is kind of small. Who do you think they missed? (Cobra Snake? Last Night's Party? Ultragrrrl?)

Trend You Wish Would Go Away
- 90s revivalism (No Age, Japandroids, Cymbals Eat Guitars)
- Afropop indie (Dirty Projectors, Fool's Gold, Abe Vigoda)
- Animal Collective acolytes (Blind Man's Colour, Our Brother the Native, USF)
- Balearic (jj, John Talabot, Windsurf/Hatchback)
- Chillwave/glo-fi (Washed Out, Neon Indian, Nite Jewel)
- Dubstep and its offshoots (wonky, funky, bassline)
- Post-Lily Allen UK pop (La Roux, Little Boots, Florence and the Machine)
- Prim, buttoned-up indie (Grizzly Bear, Andrew Bird, St. Vincent)
- Shitgaze/lo-fi aesthetics (Times New Viking, Wavves, Vivian Girls)
