Horna in Paris

The previously discussed Horna show on the June 6th at Saint Vitus is one of TWO at the venue, with the second (actually first) going down on June 2nd. Kommandant are on board for both nights, with Abazagorath and Woe on board for June 2nd and Mutilation Rites and Mortum hitting the June 6th show (the prior is celebrating a new LP). Tickets for both June 2nd and June 6th are still available. Kommandant will ALSO play Saint Vitus on 5/22, this time with Sweden's Demonical as part of a string of dates for the band. Tickets are on sale, and all Demonical and Horna dates are listed below.
Baltimore punks Deep Sleep are on the road starting next week, and will play on 4/23 at Black Light in New Brunswick NJ with Real Cops, Radio Exiles, Easy Rider and Attitude Era. Unfortunately no NYC dates in this go-around, but you can check out some of their other dates below.

Midnight at Rites of Darkness (more by BBG)

Greetings from Oslo where I'm currently experiencing the third day of this year's Interforn Festival. Read about my past two days HERE and HERE.
I am sure that I don't need to remind some of you metal fans that tonight and tomorrow are two killer shows... both featuring Villains! Tonight (4/6) features Bone Awl and Negative Plane at Saint Vitus while tomorrow's jump-off will be Midnight/Trenchgrinder/Parasytic at the newly renovated Acheron. Onslaught, who also rules and is in the US for the first time, plays on Saturday at Saint Vitus (sans Villains), so that's a bummer/tough choice.
Horna are scheduling a tour around their MDF appearance, including a show with Kommandant, Abazagorath and Woe on June 2 at Saint Vitus (tickets).
More uggested shows and some full live sets by Born Against, Neurosis and Thou are below... what did I miss?

Attila Csihar of Mayhem, The Winterdemon (metalnorge)

Highly influential black metallers Mayhem have announced that they will tour the US in spring of 2009! The 21 date tour will be announced soon, but in the meantime, look for the band to announce a new guitarist to replace departing axe-slinger Blasphemer. Mayhem's Attila Csihar lent his unholy vokills to the new Jarboe record Mahakali due Oct 14th on The End. Skip on down for video of Thurston Moore discussing Mayhem.
Doomriders are currently grinding away at their new album due on Deathwish in 2009! In the meantime, look for the band to hit the Autobahn on a European tour with Disfear & SSS. SSS is currently streaming two new tracks from their upcoming record The Dividing Line. Doomriders recently played Europa.
Metallica is streaming six tracks from Death Magnetic. Check out my review for their new record below.
Guitarist Kris Norris has left Darkest Hour and is "actively pursing some producing routes and any band that might want a guitarist".
Corrupted LIVE (tawaraya)

The extremely elusive Japanese doomers (in fact, the above is one of the only pictures I have ever found of them), Corrupted announced a brief West Coast tour with Asunder, check out the flyer here. Asunder's Works Will Come Undone recently dropped on vinyl via Kreation Records, pick it up here. Corrupted's (current? these guys are elusive I tell ya!) bassist Lowell Isles's old band, YOB recently reformed.
Vikings Amon Amarth are streaming a new track, "Guardians of Asgaard", from their upcoming Twilight Of The Thunder God.
Bloodbath, the death metal supergroup featuring Mikael Åkerfeldt (Opeth), Anders "Blakkheim" Nyström (Katatonia), Jonas Renkse (Katatonia), Martin "Axe" Axenrot(ex-Witchery, Opeth), and Per "Sodomizer" Eriksson, will drop their new studio album The Fathomless Mystery on Oct 28th via Peaceville Records. Filled with ""nothing but hateful brutality", check out "Slaughtering The Will To Live" available for download above and stream another track, "Mock The Cross", at their myspace.

MORNE (members of Grief)
Influential doomers Grief are back from the dead! This time, the band have lined up a show in Baltimore (@ The Nowarehouse on 10/24) and Philly (@ The Khyber Pass on 10/25 with Black Cobra) in preparation for a European tour with the mighty Trap Them (European tour dates forthcoming). Meanwhile, guitarist/vocalist Jeff Hayward (formerly of the equally menacing Disrupt) is touring with his new band, the oh-so-crusty Morne, who are poised to attack the east coast and as far as Minneapolis during a ten-city tour (dates below) including one date at Cake Shop on Sept 28th with Attake, Cop On Fire, and Lost Cause. Morne will be promoting their recently released demo (out now) and the band was kind enough to drop a taste here! Check out "Machine" downloadable above, and check them out on tour.
Earth have added a few shows including a date at Columbia University (10/17), another at Wesleyan University (10/18), and a date at Union Pool (10/14), in addition to the previously announced date at the Knitting Factory with Arbouretum (10/19, tickets here).
Pelican announced a show at the Bowery Ballroom on 11/2 and some other tour dates.
From The Nursery Records, current home of locals Orphan, will drop 12" of Melvins tracks recorded during the Nude With Boots sessions. Look for it hopefully by the end of this year.
