It's fashion week. Leave any party tips in the comments. I just heard that Sleigh Bells played a Lacoste party last night.

The Juliana Theory show at Music Hall of Williamsburg is their final farewell show and they are performing Emotion Is Dead in its entirety plus a second set of 'fan favorites'.

The Glasslands show is the first Illinois show in Brooklyn in over a year and it is also Whale Belly's album release show for their new album The Smile At The End Of The Slope.

Interpol played Jimmy Kimmel. Video below...

Drink Up Buttercup @ MHOW (by Maryanne Ventrice)
Drink Up Buttercup

The War On Drugs and Drink Up Buttercup have at least two things in common. They are both bands from Philly and they are both playing Union Hall in Brooklyn tonight/Sunday, December 14, 2008. TAB The Band is also on that bill. The War on Drugs is also playing with School of Seven Bells at Mercury Lounge on Monday. Drink Up Buttercup is also playing with Illinois (another Pennsylvania band) at all of their January multi-city residency shows including the one on the 14th at Rehab in NYC. All dates below...

Kid CatastropheKid Catastrophe

It's taking me too long to figure out what the heck is going on with the band Illinois and their new "The Adventures of Kid Catastrophe" "webisodes", so just know that chapter one premiered at Spin, chapter two premiered at Blender, and the band is playing a show in multiple cities (residencies) every time a new chapter is released and the NYC show for chapter two is tonight/Wednesday at Rehab. All tour dates and the series trailer below...

Melt Banana
Melt Banana

Melt-Banana is hugely responsible for the reputation that Japanese bands have for their live shows going way over the top. After seeing this group in concert, it becomes difficult to accept anything less than total hair-raising insanity from anybody else onstage. While these noise punks have been together and steadily releasing albums, cassettes, and seven-inches since 1992, their legend was built on nonstop touring. [Clevelend Scene]
I have at least one pair to each of the following NYC shows to give away:
Nov 09 - Josh Ritter @ Webster Hall
Nov 10 - Illinois & Menomena @ Webster Hall
Nov 11 - Melt Banana, Vaz & The Netherlands @ Europa
Nov 13 - Dillinger Escape Plan CD release party @ Europa

DOWNLOAD: The Misfits - Halloween (MP3)

Illinois

All Good Naysayers provides all the info you need to create your very own Sufjan Stevens-themed Halloween costume to go with your Sufjan Stevens pumpkin. And since the city was filled with people dressed up for Halloween this weekend (4-5 days before Halloween), it probably wouldn't be against the rules for you to wear your costume again 1-3 days after Halloween.

Old 97s

Just today I posted about the free show The Hold Steady are playing at Prospect Park, and another one at a Barnes & Noble. Nick Lowe recently played a charity show at Housing Works. What do all these things have to do with each other? This is what:

9/18: M. Ward, Victoria Williams & McCarthy Trenching

Man Man @ McCarren Pool - July 1, 2007 (CRED)
Man Man @ McCarren Pool

In a rare move by me these days, I actually left NYC to be in the wilderness this weekend - SO, I wasn't there. To learn more about what I missed, I have since scoured through countless photosets created by those who WERE in attendance. I have learned that - it was sunny out, people were playing dodgeball and slip 'n slide, there were more people in the audience than the first week's show, bands played, people were having fun, but most of all I learned......that there was one very special dude that was definitely THERE....
