Agnostic Front @ Santos Party House
Agnostic Front

Agnostic Front headlined Santos on 10/16 as part of their Victim In Pain anniversary tour, the same occasion that brought them to The Bell House in late February. Inhuman, Mother of Mercy, Product of Waste, and Our Gang supported the NYHC legends, and along with the standard post-stage-dive bruising, pit scarring, and hurt feelings, the show went off without a hitch. Unlike the DC9 show in Washington DC just days earlier:

Hardcore punk band Agnostic Front played at nightclub DC9 on October 14 as part of their "Victim in Pain Tour." The title of their tour would take on dark irony at about 2:30 a.m., when, following their performance, police found Ali Ahmed Mohammed splayed on the sidewalk just down the street. Five men who work at DC9 are accused of putting him there, after Mohammed threw a brick through one of DC9's windows. Metropolitan Police chief Cathy Lanier called the alleged violence "savage" and "vigilante justice."

...[Skip Coburn of the D.C. Nightlife Association is] careful to say everyone will have to wait for the facts to emerge, but Coburn repeats some of the rumors that have circulated within the pro-DC9 crowd: That the five men who chased Mohammed--Spieler and employees Darryl Carter, Reginald Phillips, Evan Preller, and Arthur Zaloga--after he shattered the club's window in retaliation for not being let in had merely tackled him. That they let him go after, and Mohammed walked away unharmed. That police arrived on the scene to arrest a conscious and alert Mohammed who somehow, later on, died in police custody. And, most importantly, that a recording of a 911 call placed to police that night would exonerate the defendants. The defendants' attorneys also say their clients are innocent of the charges the police originally made, and that once the facts are out, that'll be clear to everyone.

But a police source involved in the investigation into Mohammed's death says those rumors are likely wishful thoughts on the part of DC9 fans. (The source spoke on condition of anonymity because he's not authorized to talk publicly about the case.) He says it's unlikely that Mohammed died merely of a tackle, and that he would bet that a least one of the five arrested will face murder charges. He also claims, as do recently filed charging documents, that the first officer on the scene began administering CPR to Mohammed... -[Washington City Paper]

Shitty. More details on the investigation as they arise. More pictures from the NYC Show are below...

How do Cro-Mags relate to Goatwhore? Read on...
Goatwhore

Get out your basketball jerseys. Black & Blue Bowl 2010 is billed as "The Return to NYC" and features the legendary Cro-Mags along with Madball, H20, Trapped Under Ice, Skarhead, and many others. It takes place this year at Webster Hall on 5/15. Tickets are on sale. Full show details with the poster are below.

It's not the only NYC show on the horizon featuring hardcore legends. The great Underdog will return with Inhuman, Billy Club Sandwich, and Staring Problem for a show in celebration of their forthcoming discography Matchless due on May 18th via Bridge 9. Santos Party House will do the honors on June 12th, and tickets are on sale.

Sick of It All's new LP Based On A True Story is due on Century Media on April 20th. The band's ninth full-length effort has sparked a hometown brawl in celebration; Tickets are on sale for their appearance at Gramercy Theater on 6/11. Support comes from Maximum Penalty, This is Hell, and Last Call Brawl. More dates below.

And lastly, the quest for animal liberation continues as Earth Crisis will kick off a tour with a headlining show at Gramercy Theater on April 22nd. Dudes in bandanna headbands are stoked. Tickets are on sale. The NYC date falls right before their appearance at the New England Hardcore & Metal Fest which also features Cro-Mags, Mastodon, Baroness, Gaza, Skeletonwitch, 1349, and a slew of others.

New England Hardcore & Metal Fest also made their presence felt at SXSW, where they featured a slew of bands including the unfucwitable Goatwhore, who headlined the day show at Emo's Annex on 3/19. Pics from that appearance, full Black & Blue details, SOIA & Earth Crisis dates, and videos are below...

Iron Age

Iron Age played Union Pool with Inhuman, Snake Sustaine, and Total Social Suicide on 2/16. Good news: Reports say that it was nowhere near the mess it was on their last go around. Bad news: It looks like they may have lost a member... and a key one at that.

Iron Age took the stage sometime after midnight, and were sans part-time Mammoth Grinder and full-time Hatred Surge-r Alex on guit. Word is that the axe-slinger has left the band (which if you are familiar with Iron Age, is par for the course). Either way, reports also indicate that the ATX badasses laid it down heavy.

In related news, Snake Sustaine and a A Life Once Lost were originally scheduled to play Santos Party House on March 10th with White Wizzard and Wizardry. That show has since been cancelled. The band will however scoot on down to Austin to play dates around SXSW including the Ear/Splitters party on 3/20 and a Chronic Youth show at East End Tattoo on 3/18. More on both of those shows soon. More shots from the Union Pool show are below...

D.R.I

They sped through an hour and change long set that featured journeys into most of their familiar terrain. It was nice to see them after all these years.
They bespoke of a simpler pre-Guiliani time, one of scuzz and sleaze. The Taxi Driver New York. -[Trashman Reader]
The kings of crossover prevaled, as DRI played an NYC show on 1/17 at Gramercy with Inhuman and Rumplestiltskin Grinder.

Rumplestiltskin Grinder is reporting two MAJOR upcoming shows in NYC in the coming months, including 5/30 at Europa with DRI and 5/28 at Gramercy with German thrash metal greats Sodom! Tickets for Europa are on sale, and Sodom goes on sale 2/7. Both DRI and Sodom are scheduled to play MDF 2010, and DRI will be at Scion Rock Fest in March.

Across town, Pentagram was getting down at BB King's on the same night.

More pics from the show and complete Rumplestiltskin Grinder dates are below....
