"Later at The Other Tent came a set from Nashville's most high-profile, willowy redhead supermodel-turned-songstress, Karen Elson. While orienting myself in the now-somewhat-spacious media area near the stage-right speaker stack, the crowd erupted in a brief fit. Why? What could it be? What did I miss? Oh, Elson's old man Jack White was visible side-stage for a fleeting moment. Between most of the attendees' visible Jack White boners and all the Third Man Records shirts present, I think it's safe to say a lot of TMR's built-in fan set was in attendance. And yes, Elson's band was made up of the expected cast of Third Man all-stars, among them Greenhornes/Raconteurs "Little" Jack Lawrence and the always-stellar Patrick Keeler. Elson's spooky, gauzy Americana tunes were strong and spacious enough to leave her players room to show off their chops, and her voice was stronger than I anticipated. Plus, "Stolen Roses" sounded like a bit of a nod to "Scarborough Fair."" [Nashville Scene]
That review, like the pictures in this post, refer to Karen Elson's Thursday night set at Bonnaroo 2011. One day later, aka today (6/10), Karen and Jack announced their divorce that they are celebrating in Nashville tonight. More pictures from her Bonnaroo set below...

Jack White

Wanda Jackson, who will be flanked by the Third Man House Band featuring Jack White, will play sold out shows in Brooklyn and LA next week. If you didn't get your ticket for Ms Jackson, then you're in luck. "The Queen of Rock" will return to NYC one month later to play Bowery Ballroom on February 24, but note: the Third Man House Band is not billed as her band on the the Manhattan show. Tickets go on sale at noon.

We also have a pair of tickets to giveaway to the sold out Brooklyn show that Jack White is playing. Details below.

Wanda Jackson also has a pair of TV appearances lined up in the coming weeks; look for her on David Letterman on January 20th and Conan on January 25th. Jack White and the Third Man House Band will be playing at both of those.

Wanda is prepping to release her new Jack-White-produced-LP The Party Ain't Over via Third Man/Nonesuch Records on January 25th. The LP features Mr. White as well as his wife (Karen Elson), in addition to bandmates Jack Lawrence (The Dead Weather/Raconteurs, also The Greenhornes) & Patrick Keeler (Raconteurs also The Greeenhornes), and other greats like Carl Broemel (My Morning Jacket). The LP features eleven covers from the past century, and you can check out the tracklisting below.

The Greenhornes are going on tour soon too. They play The Bell House on April 8th (tickets) and Maxwell's on April 9th (tickets).

The above picture is taken from a video where "label head Jack White, takes an on-camera minute to explain some of its latest creations. From the The Greeting Card Gatefold™ limited edition release of upcoming Wanda Jackson LP "The Party Aint Over" to the The Third Man Monkey Band™ - only at the store front in Nashville, TN. This fantastically old-time machine plays clips of exclusive, unreleased music from Third Man Records." That video, Wanda's full tour schedule and her tracklisting is below...

"DGC/ INTERSCOPE TO RELEASE WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK: ORIGINAL SONGS BY KAREN O AND THE KIDS. ALBUM OUT SEPTEMBER 29! LEAD SINGLE "ALL IS LOVE" OUT DIGITALLY AUGUST 25! MOTION PICTURE IN THEATERS OCTOBER 16!

Inside Karen O is a Wild Thing - as singer for the Grammy-nominated Yeah Yeah Yeahs, her wild thing is in your face, vulnerable, obnoxious, tender, exciting... a self-proclaimed "spazoid." However, to Oscar-nominated Where the Wild Things Are director Spike Jonze, Karen O and her music possess a child-like innocence, a guileless charm that put her exactly on the right emotional wavelength to sonically capture the highly-anticipated film.

To compose music for the film, O enlisted friends and fellow musicians she believed had the musical intuition that would bolster her intent to marry sound to vision. Dubbed Karen O and the Kids, the kids include Tristan Bechet (Services), Tom Biller (co-producer with Karen O and member of Afternoons), Bradford Cox (Deerhunter), Brian Chase (YYY), Dean Fertita (The Dead Weather), Aaron Hemphill (Liars), Greg Kurstin (The Bird and the Bee), Jack Lawrence (The Dead Weather), Oscar Michel (Gris Gris), Imaad Wasif (New Folk Implosion), Nick Zinner, (YYY) and an untrained children's choir." [Where the Wild Things Press Release]
As the press release says above, the song "All is Love" is out today. You can listen to it at MySpace.

In related news, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are playing Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn on September 29th. That's six days after their much larger Manhattan show at Radio City Music Hall which sold out, I am told, in less than a day (UPDATE: There are a few random single tickets still available for Radio City at the moment, so not completely sold out yet)... I'm sure the MHOW show will sell out in less than a minute when tickets go on sale Friday at noon (2-ticket limit, will call only, opener TBA).
