Jamie Lidell (not playing BK) & Ed from Grizzly Bear
The September 24th "Wordless" Beirut show is right around the corner (not really wordless - just the name of the series), and word has just come in that - around a few more corners after that - Beirut's good friends Grizzly Bear will also be playing one of these Wordless shindigs...
Grizzly Bear + special guests and classical performers TBAYes, Grizzly Bear have a lot of friends, so why not include some of them in their next album, and why not call that album "Friend"? And why not put a big picture of them all on the inside of the CD? In fact, why not put this picture? (click it for a much larger view):

This Sunday (August 19, 2007) will be the last free party of the summer at McCarren Pool in Brooklyn. Hopefully it won't be the last one ever - you don't have to agree, but whether you want the pool next year to look something like the above video, or something more like the hipster version of Scores - just make sure you let the government know. Only you can make a difference.
* Ghostland ObservatoryBUT THAT'S NOT ALL. In addition to Feist/BSS, Modest Mouse & The Chemical Brothers, there will be one more ticketed show at the Pool this September, and it will be a benfit for OSA-Open Space Alliance-the entity most responsible for keeping concerts happening there. The date of the show is September 15th, and the lineup consists of the very talented Mr Jamie Lidell, and sir GZA of the Wu-Tang Clan - and YES, GZA will be performing Liquid Swords from start to finish - like he did at the Pitchfork Festival. Ticket details coming shortly.
* The Rub DJs
* THE BALTIMORE BASS CONNECTION and guest MC’s:
**** The Cool Kids
**** Kid Sister
**** Betty Black
**** Pase Rock,
**** and surprise guests (Spank Rock??)

And we're sure you'll hear plenty of other avenues saying he was "so hot" or "so electrifying" that he set the speakers on fire, so we'll refrain from doing so, but know that at the end of his set, some of the speakers did indeed have flames coming from them. He was singing soul, but flaming speakers is fucking punk rock. [Seattlest]
Beck chose Of Montreal and Jamie Lidell to play a concert at Irving Plaza in NYC on September 26, 2006. It's part of WIRED's NextFest. No ticket info or official announcement yet. All Of Montreal & Jamile Lidell tour dates below...
"...here is Lidell, doing 'When I Come Back Around' live, beatboxing and all that, with the electronic-tweekery of Detroit's Jimmy Edgar backing him up. I'm definitely jealous of the folks who got to see and hear this happen (at last month's Bowery Ballroom show here in NYC). As I said before, Jamie Lidell live performances seem to make audiences pretty divisive, which is fine by me - love it or hate it, that's up to you. I happen to think he's on some genius-level-shit myself..."

JOSE GONZALEZ + ZERO 7
If you don't have them already, you can head over to MOKB to get 2 new Zero 7 songs featuring Jose Gonzalez on vocals. Jose & Zero 7 are playing the Hollywood Bowl together in August.
MOCKY + FEIST
Less blogged about, Feist sings on the first single ("Fightin Away the Tears") from the new Mocky album ("Navy Brown Blues"). Green Pea-ness has that MP3. The video is streaming on YouTube. Mocky also remixes Mushaboom on Feist's new album of remixes and collaborations. GWFAS has that MP3.
GONZALEZ + FEIST + MOCKY + JAMIE LIDELL
On "Gonzo"'s new DVD, "Mocky, Feist and Jamie Lidell join Gonzo for a set that includes a rare Gonzo live rap, as well as songs from Jamie Lidell and Feist's last albums."
GONZALEZ + JAMIE LIDELL
Gonzalez also remixed Jamie Lidell. That MP3 was in my last post.

Jamie Lidell played Southpaw in Brooklyn Wednesday night (April 26, 2006). Jimmy Edgar opened and later joined him on one song. Tuesday night the same lineup played Bowery Ballroom in Manhattan. Thursday night they end their tour in Philly. If its not sold out and you're in Philly, GO.
The encore was especially off the hook. First someone convinced Jamie to join the crowd. Then the mic went from person to person, and there were at least four audience members that sang REALLY well. Jamie got back on stage and then invited everyone to join him there. So many people went up that the security had to stop it. There was lots of dancing and singing and Jamie making magic with all his toys.
