Noise Pop Flyer

The intial lineup for Noise Pop 2010, which takes over San Francisco February 23rd to March 1st, has been updated. Newly announced acts include Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band (with Cornelius, Yuka Honda, Sean Lennon), The Dodos & Magik Magik Orchestra collaborative performance, !!!, Harlem, Deerhoof, Memory Tapes, The Fresh and Onlys, Scout Niblett, Far (Reunion Show), The Mumlers, P.E.E (Reunion Show), Mirah, Laura Gibson, Nico Vega, Japanese Motors, Princeton, Free Energy, The Growlers, Nurses, Magic Wands, The Lonely Forest, The Hot Toddies, Tempo No Tempo, Judgement Day. The full current lineup is posted below.

Tickets and passes for most of those are on sale now. Tickets for Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band (with Deerhoof) on February 23rd and the Dodos & Magik Magik Orchestra collaborative shows go on sale on Sunday, January 10th.

Memory Tapes, chillwave Jerseyan Dayve Hawk, is one of the acts scheduled for the fest. He's going to be in the UK for a short run of shows this January, and he's confirmed that US dates and a European tour are forthcoming. The song "Bicycle" off his debut, Seek Magic, is above. The album is being re-issued on Feb 8th, "with an exclusive 48 minute 4 track CD2 through Urban Outfitters and digitally exclusively via iTunes".

UPDATE: Memory Tapes is opening for Atlas Sound at The Bell House on February 3rd. Tickets are still on sale.

Crocodiles @ Bowery Ballroom 4/2/09 (more by Tim Griffin)

Crocodiles were scheduled to open both of the upcoming Holy Fuck/A Place to Bury Strangers NYC tour dates on May 22nd and 23rd.

The Saturday, May 23rd show with all three bands at the Bowery Ballroom is still on as is. Tickets are still on sale.

But the night before, Friday, May 22nd, while HF and APTBS play the Music Hall of Williamsburg, Crocodiles will instead play a free gig at Studio B with Japanese Motors and Finger on the Pulse DJs. That show, dubbed "Tux With Chucks Prom," is being presented by Converse and Death + Taxes; to get in, RSVP to tuxwithchucks@dt-mag.com. Tickets for Holy Fuck/APTBS on Friday, now with The Morning After Girls opening, are still on sale.

After their month-long tour with Holy Fuck ends on June 15th, Crocodiles come back to NYC for two shows this summer: June 18th at Union Pool and June 20th at the Mercury Lounge. Ticket info TBA. All dates, and a poster for the Studio B show, below...

Even if you don't have a badge, CMJ (Oct 21-25 in NYC) can be overwhelming... especially these days with the proliferation of day parties, unofficial showcases and afterparties. Running around like a crazy person trying to catch everyone you want to see can be fun, but sometimes it's not such a bad idea just to pick one place and stay there. Japanese Motors

Japanese Motors have been pretty fortunate, considering the Costa Mesa, Calif. quartet kind of started as a hoax.

It all began when pro surfer Alex Knost, who rides for RVCA, told the surf/skate company that he had a band -- which wasn't really the case.

"At the time, we didn't really know how to play," says Knost with a laugh. "And they kind of knew that, but they were cool. They liked the fact that we wanted a band, and we were trying to have a band." [Chart Attack]

Japanese Motors' self-titled (VICE) debut is out now. The band definitely fits right in at the label that is also home to the Black Lips. Check out the MP3s above. The band play at least four NYC shows this week (one with the Black Lips and one for BV). A video and all dates below...
