Rough Trade's music venue (more by Greg Cristman)
Rough Trade

Last night (12/4), Ida Maria was supposed to play Rough Trade when it got an 11th-hour relocation to Music Hall of Williamsburg. Turns out all shows at Rough Trade for the next month or so are going to get moved as well, due to sound issues with the venue. Here's the Press Release:

Following consultation with local residents and local authorities, Rough Trade and The Bowery Presents have decided it would best to put 'on hold' all live performance events at the Rough Trade NYC store, until further notice. This decision has been made to allow additional sound remediation work to be carried out, during which time scheduled RTNYC live events, where possible, will be transferred to the other local venues. RTNYC
Rough Trade, the store, remains open 9 AM - 11 PM daily.

Tonight's show (12/5) with Tourist, Jim-E Stack, and AIMES will now happen at Baby's All Right. AIMES are no longer playing, but all tickets will be honored. 8 PM doors.

No word on where the rest of Rough Trade's December schedule -- like Friday's Andrew Bird show (12/6) -- will end up, so stay tuned. UPDATE: Andrew Bird, DIIV and other shows have been cancelled.

Meanwhile, Julio Bashmore got to NYC a little earlier in the week to open for fellow Jessie Ware collaborators Disclosure at their Central Park show with TNGHT. At that show, Sam Smith joined Disclosure on stage for "Latch," and he plays his own NYC show TONIGHT (8/8) at Mercury Lounge (sold out). Support at the show comes from Lawrence Rothman, who we also just caught at Glasslands last night (8/7).

BLACK: a conceptual music experience, an ode to a color that is a lifestyle, a color that defines New York. We will embrace the edge of culture in music and art, while revering its inexhaustible history. The event will feature live musical performances by Matthew Dear, The Virgins, The Rapture DJ's, and Jim-E Stack.

Enjoy custom art installations by Young & Sick and Charlie Nesi, and video projections from Trevor Owsley, Joel Walker, and Jason Naylor. LA lifestyle shop Black Banditz will have a pop-up tatoo shop upstairs in the VIP lounge.

The "conceptual music experience" known as BLACK will go down at chichi LES club Capitale on Feburary 21. It's from the same people who orchestrated the "Full Moon" party that Yacht played down by South Street Seaport last summer. Could be fun? Tickets are on sale now.
