Real Estate in a church in Brooklyn last month (more by Greg Cristman)

Mini have teamed up with RCD LBL to present the Normal Crashing Tour, which brings a different band to a secret location in different US cities. The "tour" began in Chicago on Monday (12/3) with Twin Shadow and comes to Williamsburg, Brooklyn this Friday (12/7) at 5:30 for a free Real Estate show in a TBA location. More info on that show at the facebook event but RSVP is not required. The "tour" will also come to Austin and LA soon. Stay tuned.
In related news, Real Estate member Alex Bleeker (and The Freaks) will open the third of three shows in Deer Tick's upcoming Brooklyn Bowl residency, where Deer Tick will be performing an album and an EP in full each night. Alex is on board for the December 19 show where Deer Tick is doing Divine Providence and the Tim EP. Ian O'Neil of Deer Tick is also playing an opening set. Tickets for that show are still available, or you can also pick up a three night pass, which gains you access to all three shows, the first of which is tonight (12/5).
As mentioned, the other Real Estate side project Ducktails (led by Matt Mondanile) will play a guest-filled record release show for their new album, The Flower Lane, on January 23 at Le Poisson Rouge (tickets). Matt just dropped a new song off that album, "Letter of Intent," which features Jessa Farkas (of Future Shuttle) on vocals, Daniel Lopatin (Oneohtrix Point Never, Ford & Lopatin) on synth, and Joel Ford (Airbird, Ford & Lopatin) on bass. You can stream that song below. Jessa and Joel are both on board for the release show at LPR and it wouldn't be a surprise if Oneohtrix Point Never, who just played MoMA PS1 with Ducktails, shows up too.

Ducktails (the project of Real Estate's Matt Mondanile) will release their new album, The Flower Lane, on January 29 via Domino and they'll be playing a record release show for it in NYC on January 23 at Le Poisson Rouge with a number of special guests, including Jessa Farkas (Future Shuttle), Cults singer Madeline Follin, Joel Ford, and Matt's Real Estate bandmate Martin Courtney. Pictureplane @ 285 Kent

Class Actress and Pictureplane teamed for a show with Dog Leather and Beige at a sold-out 285 Kent on February 3rd. The show, which was followed by tunes from selectors Neon Indian and Joel Ford, was a one-off East Coast date for both headlining bands. Here are some pictures from the Brooklyn show (though we missed both openers.)
Look for Class Actress on the road and at SXSW this year, and from the looks of his tour dates, possibly Pictureplane in Austin as well. Check out a remix Pictureplane just did for for Black Marble, HERE.

Megafortress

Megafortress (aka NYC musician Bill Gillim of Tigercity) is releasing his self titled EP on January 31 via Ford & Lopatin's Mexican Summer imprint, Software. There's definitely a How to Dress Well vibe going on with Gillim's simultaneous understanding of ambient electronics and soaring falsetto vocals, but they differ in that Megafortress shies away from any type of beatwork, relying only on his voice, sampled bells, and synthesizer. Check out the lead track, "Green Child," which you can stream and watch the video for below. The album artwork and tracklist are also below. You can pre-order the vinyl at the Mexican Summer webstore now and an MP3 download is coming soon.
Megafortress has one show coming up and its in his hometown of NYC on the album's release date, January 31 at Glasslands. The bill also includes his Software (who is co-presenting the show with PopGun) labelmates Slava and Giffoni, in addition to When the Mountains Turn Blue and DJ Joel Ford (of Ford and Lopatin). Tickets are on sale now.
Slava also plays 285 Kent on January 20 with Huerco S, LF WInd (of Teengirl Fantasy), Innergaze, and Terekke.
Carlos Giffoni also plays The Stone on February 2.
Also catch Software co-owner Daniel Lopatin when Oneohtrix Point Never opens for Tycho at MHOW (2/4). Tickets are still available.
