oh the humanity...

Just noticed this note posted today on the homepage of the upcoming Festival For Humanity:
May 12th, 2011Most people reading this are probably wondering what the Festival For Humanity is (and that's probably part of their problem), but the Vernon, NJ festival's lineup included The New Porngraphers, and, well (another part of their problem...), and Cracker... Third Eye Blind... Sister Hazel... the Misfits... Soul Asylum... Good Charlotte... John Popper... Ok, it was for charity, so that sucks.
To Those Involved With The Festival For Humanity,
It is with sadness that we inform you that the Festival for Humanity has been cancelled.
The founder of the festival, Anders Thueson has been doing everything in his power to secure financing and as of this late hour, the Festival For Humanity will not take place. "The concept of Festival for Humanity was a Celebration of Art and Music to Benefit Charities of Suicide Prevention, Health and Nutrition. I strongly believe we will find a way another way to help those in outreach, education, awareness and funding, this I pledge," says Thueson.All paid ticket holders will be notified and refunded.

"I was home most of the day and bored shitless, so I decided to head out to Mercury Lounge [on Wednesday, 7/22] to see a random classic rock/hair metal-ish show, having never heard of any of the bands on the bill. During ZO2's set, they brought out the following guests on consecutive songs, back-to-back:ZO2 are the stars of the IFC network tv show, Z Rock. The Rock Of Ages guy was Constantine Maroulis who became famous on American Idol. More pictures Z02's set below...1.) John Popper on harmonica for what sounded like a ZO2 original;
2.) Marky Ramone on drums for a cover of Zeppelin's "Good Times, Bad Times;"
3.) The lead dude from that hair metal thing on Broadway, Rock of Ages, for a cover of Bon Jovi's "Dead or Alive" (with the guitarist donning a Jimmy Page-esque double neck Gibson);
4.) One of the Steves that was at some point in Journey on guest vocals for a song I didn't recognize. No, it wasn't Steve Perry, you wiseass. One of the other ones." [Tuddd's Muddd]
