The Nines Festival is returning to Devens, MA (38 miles west of Boston) this year on August 10 at Willard Field. Artists playing include Explosions in the Sky, Shuggie Otis, Delta Spirit, Kid Koala, and more. Early bird tickets for the festival go on sale Friday (6/7) at 10 AM.

Cult soul singer Shuggie Otis has other upcoming dates, including two free NYC shows around the time of the Nines Festival happening on August 8 at MetroTech Commons as part of BAM's 2013 R&B Festival and Central Park Summerstage on August 11 with Jose James, Hiatus Kaiyote, and Op! (DJ).

Former Voxtrot frontman Ramesh released a great EP a while back and he's finally wrapping up work on his debut solo album. He hasn't revealed anything from that album yet, but maybe we'll get to hear some new tracks when he plays a solo show in NYC on March 1 at Union Hall with Good Field and Matt Bauer. Tickets for that show are on sale now.

Neo-soul/jazz singer Jose James released his new album, No Beginning, No End (which features instrumentation from Robert Glasper and D'Angelo/Erykah Badu bassist Pino Palldino), and is going on a tour in support of hit which hits NYC on March 27 at Music Hall of Williamsburg with Taylor McFerrin. BAM presents the 17th annual R&B Festival at MetroTech. The festival is a free outdoor concert series featuring shows every Thursday from noon-2 PM, June 2 through August 4 at MetroTech Commons in Brooklyn. Awesome if you work right there. The fest kicks off this Thursday (6/2) with George Clinton & Parliament/Funkadelic. Full lineup below.

"There's a good reason why the new record is called Scars," says Felix Buxton. "Making it has been a grueling process. When we finished recording, it felt like we'd come out of a boxing ring." His bandmate Simon Ratcliffe nods in agreement.

Basement Jaxx's new album 'Scars' will be released by Ultra and XL Records on October 6th. A little less than a month later the band will visit North America to DJ in a few major cities, including New York City of course. Tickets are now on sale for a November 7th gig at Santos Party House which doubles as FIXED's 5-year anniversary party.

'Scars' is full of guest appearances including Kelis, Maleka & Chipmunk, Eli "Paperboy" Reed, Sam Sparro, Lightspeed Champion, Amp Fiddler, Yo Majesty, Yoko Ono, Paloma Faith, Lisa Kekaula, Jose Hendrix, and Jose James.
