Joy Orbison

UK producer/DJ Peter O'Grady, aka Joy Orbison, made his U.S. debut at Justin Carter & Eamon Harkin's 'Mister Saturday Night' party at 12-Turn-13 in Clinton Hill on Saturday night (4/9). Check out a video from the appearance below.
If you missed it, you have one more shot to catch O'Grady in NYC before he continues on towards Coachella. Joy Orbison plays Deep Space at Cielo with Francois K tonight (4/11). He then flies west for a pre-Coachella show in San Francisco, Coachella, and a post-Cochaella HARD LA event where he shares a bill with Pearson Sound / Ramadanman, Annie Mac, & Flinch on 4/19.
Speaking of HARD, the festival is heading to the high seas in 2012. Much like Jam Cruise (whose people are involved in this), and Bruise Cruise (whose people are not), HARD Cruise 2012 is coming. It sails from Florida in January, and that's about all the details they've released at the moment. Stay tuned for lineups, pricing, etc.

In theory, she was an artist you want to root for-- all these ideas about art and celebrity and a flair for the dramatic. But the first few singles made the Lady Gaga project feel so presumptuous, her artsy entitlement overwhelming her songs' occasional strengths. "Bad Romance" was the moment where the music didn't just live up to the (self-inflated) hype, but surpassed it. The track is epic in construction-- by the time she gets to the bridge, more than three minutes in, the realization that there are hooks yet to come is thrilling. It helps that RedOne's production matches the songwriting's torrential drama; the churning, earth-shifting low-frequency synths are a programmatic reflection of the singer's unsteady, perhaps unwise, infatuation. But it's Gaga's performance, the wholly unapologetic fools-rush-in carnal energy, that commitment to emotional bravery in a context of increasingly twee chart pop, that makes "Bad Romance" feel so necessary. --David Drake [39. Lady Gaga "Bad Romance"]Pitchfork posted their Top 100 Tracks of 2009. Lady Gaga took two spots.
Neon Indian is also on there twice, which is the the same amount of times they're playing Mercury Lounge (Tuesday and Wednesday night).

Four Tet aka Kieran Hebdan will be headed to North America this February in support of his fifth record, There Is Love in You, which comes out January 26th on Domino.
In the meantime Kieran has some dates lined up in Europe including a December 11th DJ gig (the last night of a residency) at Plastic People in London. Those in attendance will get an exclusive mix CD that won't ever be available anywhere else (except ripped on to the Internet probably).
The North America trip's NYC stop will be a February 17th show at (Le) Poisson Rouge. Tickets are on sale. Nathan Fake opens all shows on tour.
The lead single, "Love Cry," which comes out as a 12" on December 8th (b-side "Our Bells"), is posted (in a video) with album art, tracklist and all dates below...
