Goatwhore classes up Ozzfest

Die, die, die already! After 2008's Ozzfest featured just a single date and 2009 was non-existent, I figured that maybe, just maybe, Ozzfest had finally been put to bed. I was sadly mistaken. Over six dates across the US, 2010's Ozzfest will feature appearances from (I think) an almost completely missable main stage of Ozzy Osbourne, Motley Crue, Halford, Devildriver, and Nonpoint along with a semi-respectable second stage featuring Black Label Society, Drowning Pool, Kingdom of Sorrow, Goatwhore, Skeletonwitch, Saviours, and Kataklysm. Ozzfest hits Hartford, CT on 8/21 and Camden, NJ on 8/22. Tickets go on sale 5/22. All dates and some videos are below.

Napalm Death

The Aquarian: What's the difference in doing a tour like this one with Kataklysm, Trap Them and Abigail Williams --different kinds of bands--as opposed to all grinders?Napalm Death headlined an all-star cast of bludgeoners on April 11th at Gramercy Theater in NYC. Kataklysm, Toxic Holocaust, Coliseum and Trap Them primed the crowd with trademark ferocity. The rager of a tour, leads up to Napalm Death and Trap Them's appearances at Maryland Deathfest.Barney Greenway of Napalm Death: I think it's good that it's a mixed palette. Let's be honest, for a lot of people that go to gigs, they might not miss it, but do you really want to see almost in some ways a carbon copy of the same thing over and over, even though it might be--depending on your perspective--varying quality within a bill, do you really want to see the same thing over and over? Some people might say yes, but I think for the most part people don't.
I like doing different stuff. I like differences. Coliseum are on there, and they are really quite different certainly from what we do in a lot of ways, but that's a good thing. On a personal level, as a music fan, I appreciate differences. It's nice to have that. I know what I want to do in Napalm, and what I do in Napalm hasn't changed drastically down the years, what I enjoy doing with Napalm, but that doesn't mean to say I don't appreciate other things to complement a bill or whatever. As long as it's exciting to people, it doesn't really matter to me what bands are on the bill, really.
Another rager of a tour that hits Deathfest... Mayhem with Marduk, Cattle Decapitation, Cephalic Carnage, and Withered hits Irving Plaza on 5/21 with Lair Of The Minotaur also on the NYC bill. Tickets for that are still available.

Agalloch

Folkin' black proggers Agalloch has announced that they are at work on their fourth LP, the follow-up the the critically acclaimed Ashes Against The Grain! The band recently parted ways with The End and "have received several offers ranging from the ridiculous to the very interesting" with respect to a new home, but no decision is expected until 2009. Meanwhile, Agalloch also announced the release of The Demonstration Archive, a retrospective of songs from 1996 - 1998 before they signed to the label. For more info on The Demonstration Archive, including how to pick it up, head here.
As we announced a couple weeks ago, doomy instrumental trio Capricorns have released River Bear Your Bones in jolly old England, but the US will see the record on September 30th. Have no fear, as we have posted 25% of the whole record (above) for you to download!
Intronaut's new record, Prehistoricisms, is up for preorder, with or without a limited edition tee ($4 more). Check out "The Literal Black Cloud" from Prehistoricisms here.
Black Anvil

World, Black Anvil. Black Anvil, world. I wish it was that easy, because word needs to get out on these grim lords constructed from ex-members of Kill Your Idols. Drawing from early black metal and thrash and with only an occasional foray into Emperor-style tremolo picking, their new LP Time Insults The Mind is an unholy creature of shadow. Check out "Ten Talons Deep" available for download above and the video of the band tearing through "Deathsomnia" (also from Time...). and pick up the record at Momentum Records when it drops. The band is also playing Traxx in Ronkonkoma on August 23rd and The Charleston on Sept 30th.
That video, plus Neurosis, Coalesce, Converge, Municipal Waste, Rosetta, sunn 0))), Corrupted and more after the jump...

Two weeks later, the world's most intense elementary school teacher Steve Von Till drops A Grave is a Grim Horse, his first non-Harvestman release in six years (Harvestman recently collabo'd with Fear Falls Burning). More details on A Grave Is A Grim Horse can be found here. The third we knew about, but has now gone official: A Storm Of Light's debut And We Wept the Black Ocean Within will be released on June 2nd. Read our recent interview with Josh Graham here.
