Kurt Vile @ Webster Hall - 12/2/15
Kurt Vile is having quite the busy week in NYC. He played the big Ground Control 15th anniversary show on Wednesday (12/2), and joined Dinosaur Jr at the first of their seven Bowery Ballroom shows last night (12/3). He'll also be one of the guests at Cyndi Lauper's holiday show happening Saturday (12/5) at Beacon Theater.
The other guests are Boy George, Natasha Bedingfield, Judy Gold, Cam, Joey Taranto, Justin Tranter, Keb' Mo', Ledisi, Anne Steele, Sharon Osborne, Valerie Simpson, Richie Sambora & Orianthi and New Found Glory singer Jordan Pundik. Tickets are still available.
That means Kurt is free tonight (12/4) and his tour doesn't start up again until December 30. Maybe he'll join Dinosaur Jr again? Or something else?

While we're talking about Barbara Maier, the singer also taught Deborah Harry, Handsome Dick Manitoba, and Kathleen Hanna, who will be honored at Rhythm & Soul 2015, in celebration of Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls' tenth anniversary. This year, the 2015 Grammy nominations are being revealed gradually on CBS This Morning. A few categories have already been announced, with a lot more on the way, and we'll have to wait for tonight's A Very Grammy Christmas special to find out the Album of the Year nominees. Arcade Fire, St. Vincent, Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, Beck, Black Keys, Ryan Adams, Jack White, Beyonce (now the most Grammy-nominated woman), Pharrell, Schoolboy Q, Drake, Eminem, Disclosure, Duke Dumont, Basement Jaxx, James Franco, Aphex Twin, Little Dragon, Royksopp & Robyn, Arctic Monkeys, Mastodon, Motorhead, Alt-J, Lee "Scratch" Perry, Sam Smith, Haim, Sia, Coldplay, Robert Glasper, Sharon Jones, Jhene Aiko, Tom Petty, U2 and more have already been announced. Eric Clapton at BAM in 2010 (more by Kevin Mazur)
Eric Clapton is kicking off a major US tour in March, 2013 which will culminate in NYC with the two-night Crossroads Guitar Festival at Madison Square Garden from April 12 to 13. In addition to Clapton, the festival will feature a ton of other artists, including Allman Brother Band, Jeff Beck, BB King, Buddy Guy, Taj Mahal, Gary Clark Jr., Blake Mills, Los Lobos, Frank Ocean sideman John Mayer, and many others.
The Terrace level at MSG will also host the "Guitar Center Road to Crossroads Exhibition," which will feature a number of historic guitars on display, memorabilia, archival footage, and interactive exhibits where fans can play products by Fender, Gibson, Ernie Ball, and Martin. The exhibition will open at 6:30 PM on 4/12 and 6 PM on 4/13, and is free to ticket holders.
Tickets for the festival go on sale Friday, November 30 at noon with a Chase (who is presenting the show) presale beginning Monday, November 26 at noon.

Live From Daryl's House, Daryl Hall of Hall & Oates's TV show, which Sharon Jones has starred on, is hitting the road for some live dates including 4/11 @ Wellmont Theater, 4/14 @ the Borgata, and 4/21 @ Beacon Theatre. All three are with special guests Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings and Allen Stone. Tickets for the NYC show and for the NJ show go on sale today at noon.

The Roots on the Intrepid (more by Dominick Mastrangelo)
The Roots and "special surprise guests" will celebrate the holdays at their 5th Annual Okayplayer Holiday Jam, which goes down at Brooklyn Bowl on Thursday (12/15), followed by the usual Questlove DJ stint shortly thereafter. The show is private, but you (and a guest) can win a special invite by signing up for the Okayplayer newsletter. Further details are at the Okayplayer site.
The Roots will also celebrate legendary delta blues musician Robert Johnson's 100th birthday at the Apollo on March 6th, joining a lineup that includes Shemika Copeland, Bettye LaVette, Taj Mahal, Keb Mo, Sam Moore, Todd Rundgren and more TBA. Tickets are on sale, and the show will double as a benefit for the construction of the Blues Hall of Fame by the Blues Foundation in Memphis.
The Roots recently celebrated the release of their new LP Undun and inddirectly called Michelle Bachmann a "Lyin' Ass Bitch" (and will no longer have carte blanche on the songs they play as a result).
