Kanye West and Kim Kardashian revealed over the weekend that North West got a new baby brother, and today they announced his name: Saint West. Kim revealed it by posting the above Instagram, which we can safely assume is an emoji version of the West family. Just don't tell Ricky Gervais:
No Spoilers! Please don't tell me what Kim & Kanye have named their baby yet. I don't want to know. Ever. Thanks.— Ricky Gervais (@rickygervais) December 7, 2015
Though Kanye stopped himself during the Grammys (much to Jay-Z and everyone's amusement), he let his opinions be known right afterwards, live on TV with Kim Kardashian by his side. Watch the E! afterparty interview below...
Kanye West at Bonnaroo (photo by Brian Mansfield)
Though the big "news" seems to be Kim Kardashian's see through top (thanks Kanye for making Bonnaroo a place the Kardashians know about), our favorite Kanye related news was Frank Ocean's setlist. As CoS reports, Odd Future's R&B singer didn't end up playing any new songs, but he did play a number of hits from Channel Orange and Nostalgia, Ultra ("Thinkin Bout You," "Novacane," "Pyramids," etc) and his verses on Beyonce's "Superpower" and Kanye's "New Slaves." Speaking of, Kanye once again omitted Beyonce's husband from lyrics, possibly for not appearing at the ceremony where he recently became a husband (to the Bonnaroo newsmaker with the sheer top).
Kanye's controversial return to Bonnaroo wasn't delayed by hours this time, and included a ton of hits ("Black Skinhead," "Mercy," "Can't Tell Me Nothin'," "Power," "Jesus Walks," etc etc etc), but just on time for his New Year's resolution to be up (he promised to stop ranting for at least six months, apparently he meant that very literally), the set included plenty of rants. He referenced the 2008 controversy, yelled out "Where the press at? Fuck the press!," and compared himself to Shakespeare, Walt Disney, Genghis Kahn, John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix and still plenty more. Not everyone in the crowd took well to the ranting. Entertainment Weekly points out:
His outburst was met with violent boos and what looked like a mass exodus. Festival-goers headed away from the stage and began filling up U.K. dance duo Disclosure's tent early, punctuating their wait with eruptions of surprisingly well-organized chants of "F-k Kanye!"A video from Kanye's set, his setlist and Frank Ocean's setlist, below...
Kanye in mask (via Buzzfeed)
Kanye West did a three-night run in Atlantic City at Revel Ovation Hall from December 28-30. He performed completely alone on stage, without backup dancers, DJs, or a band, with widescreen projections of nature scenes behind him. The scenes changed a few times throughout the show, as did his outfits, which at certain points included two weirdly awesome masks -- one covered in diamonds and one covered in mock snow and/or feathers. For the set he stuck mainly to the hits, which at this point in his career results in a pretty long show, having touched on "Clique," "Mercy," "Power," "Jesus Walks," "Heartless," "Gold Digger," "Stronger," and many more.
At night 2, he gave a freestyle/rant during "Clique" about his criticism and about not receiving more major nominations in the 2013 Grammys. And on night 3, Kanye stopped in the middle of "Lost in the World" and asked, "Can we make some noise for my baby mama right quick?" implying that Kim Kardashian is pregnant. Neither Kanye or Kim have explicitly announced anything, but Kim's sister Kourtney later tweeted, "Been wanting to shout from the rooftops with joy and now I can! Another angel to welcome to our family. Overwhelmed with excitement!"
Kanye's friend/collaborator Jay-Z plays Barclays Center with Coldplay tonight for New Year's Eve. Maybe 'Ye will make an appearance? (though he probably has something better to do).
