Re-TROS expand tour, playing Modern Sky Fest, EU dates w/ Depeche Mode & more

Beijing’s Re-TROS are currently wrapping up their tour with Xiu Xiu, which was originally finishing with a show at Brooklyn’s Villain on 9/23, but became two sold-out shows at Union Pool, neither of which now have Re-Tros on the bill. Re-TROS now have two other NYC shows on their schedule: East Village club Berlin on September 28 with Brian Hill & Noh Starrs and the NYC edition of the 2017 Modern Sky Festival at Central Park SummerStage on September 30. Tickets for both are on sale. Later this fall, they’ll open for Depeche Mode on some European dates of their world tour.

The Modern Sky festival is a showcase for Chinese rock and pop —  some of whom are very popular in their home country — plus a few western acts. This year’s fest also features Edison Chen, A Si, hip hop group HHH, Brian Hill and The Noh Starrs, and Calvin Love. This Saturday (9/23) Re-TROS play the Los Angeles edition of Modern Sky with Ma Di, XTX, A Si, HHH, Korean band Hyukoh, 9m88, plus The Molochs and Cotillon.

Re-TROS just released their new album Before the Applause, a rhythm-heavy mix of Kratrock, DFA-style dance rock, post punk noir, and more. They are a pretty amazing live act and if you can catch them at a stop on this tour, you should.
