As you know, tickets for the LCD Terminal 5 Soundystem shows go on sale at 9am. Hopefully all the restrictions mean that everyone who wants a ticket can get one.

Terminal 5

As previously mentioned, tickets to the four LCD Soundsystem shows at Terminal 5 go on sale Tuesday, but now we also know the exact time, price, openers, and a lot of special rules. LCD says:

basic bullet points to know:

-monday and tuesday, march 28 & 29 will feature liquid liquid.

-wednesday and thursday, march 30 & 31, will feature shit robot live.

-tickets for all four terminal 5 shows (march 28/29/30/31) will go onsale via ticketmaster at 9.00am on tuesday 22nd.

-there is a two ticket per person limit.

-the cost of a ticket is $40.00. ticketmaster charges will be $6.90 plus $2.05 per order handling fee. (that's the best we could get, apparently)

-(as an attempt to avoid the "secondary market") there will be no hard tickets. the only way to get in to terminal 5 on the nights of the shows will be to show i.d. at will call and then immediately enter the venue.

-we're told that ticketmaster will also sweep the online purchases daily and delete any duplications from potential scalper bots. (please come to the venue early on show nights - the line for entry may be long). if the tickets for the shows don't sell out very quickly, we'll stop the duplicate ticket thing and allow people to buy tickets for multiple nights. (just want to make sure all who want to go get a ticket before "multiples", if that makes any sense).

-oh... and we can't do a walk-up ticket buy at the mercury lounge box office this time (w/o ticketmaster fees) because those are only the hard tickets, which can be sold afterwards. (yes, i asked about putting names on the hard tickets.)

-more important: we're as bored of this ticket stuff as you are, so let's just have fun a few last times, and then get some food! 2 more liquid liquid shows! the new york debut of mr. shit robot live, maybe featuring some guests! loudness and lights! fancy stuff!

It's awesome the band is going out of its way to stop scalpers, though unfortunately this is a key statement: "please come to the venue early on show nights - the line for entry may be long.", There's also no mention of a way to give your tickets to someone else if you can't make it that night, and I'm not sure how someone without a credit card in their name can get tickets. Also, as they point out - there's no way to get tickets without fees now. That all said, this is not a new debate, but which way would you prefer?

Liquid Liquid is also opening the MSG show.

LCD Soundsystem made their "last TV appearance" last night on Colbert Report. James Murphy discussed his LCD retirement. Videos below...

LCD Scalpers

As you knew 417 comments ago, one less Radiohead album ago, and back before Arcade Fire had a grammy, LCD Soundsystem added four more NYC shows that will take place at Terminal 5 on March 28, 29, 30 and 31. That gives the band one day off before they play their final show on April 2nd at Madison Square Garden - the show that sold out instantly, but that nobody but scalpers seemed to get tickets for. That made many, including James Murphy (see above tweets), very mad, and so the T5 shows were added, and James wrote this letter (which says tickets will be on sale soon)...

"march 28, 29, 30 and 31 at terminal 5 in NYC. details to follow."

"wow i really dont think iever seen a msg show sell out so fast" - Bao Nguyen

"I've also NEVER seen TM so sluggish! - Klaus Kinski

"Is it true Mubarak stepped down just for a sec to try to go on Ticketmaster to get tickets to see @lcdsoundsystem at MSG?" - Aziz Ansari

James Murphy @ ACL 2010 (more by Tim Griffin)

After a presale that sold out instantly (people waiting on line for hours in the freezing cold outside Mercury Lounge included), LCD Soundsystem just sold out their final show at Madison Square Garden in an instant (give or take a few seconds of processing time). Promoter Bowery Presents' website also crashed, presumably from all the people trying to figure out what to do, when tickets went on sale at 11am (see screenshot above). Congrats James.

Tickets go on regular sale for the final LCD Soundsystem show at 11am. Presales happened Wednesday.

While you're waiting check out the new Planningtorock video that DFA Records just released....

The LCD Soundsystem final show presale started at 10am, both online and at the Mercury Lounge box office.

LCD Soundsystem @ Terminal 5 (more by Vincent Cornelli)

As previously mentioned, the Ticketmaster presale starts at 10am and the Pitchfork password has been announced. It is "lastever". You can also show up at Mercury Lounge at 10am to avoid service fees.

According to Chris Gersbeck...

"last night for literally about 3 minutes before taking it down, LCD Soundsystem's Facebook page announced a presale of GA tickets at the Mercury Lounge box office at 10am on Wednesday (tomorrow) morning for the 4/2 MSG show. Tickets would be limited to two a person and would not carry any ticketmaster fees... . [then] they PROMPTLY pulled it."
Wednesday at 10am is also when Ticketmater says the "Pitchfork Pre-Sale" is happening (so it looks like no presale today, but they'll probably announce the password and these or similar details today).

UPDATE: LCD Soundsystem confirms:

we are happy to announce that at 10.00am on wednesday 9th february there will be a sale of a limited amount of general admission tickets at the mercury lounge box office 217 e. houston, new york, ny 10022. these tickets will not carry a ticketmaster charge. strictly limited to two per person. first come first served!!!!!!

it's the end of an era as lcd soundsystem confirms an april 2 extravaganza at new york city's madison square garden that will be both its first time headlining the storied arena and the final, definitive and ultimate lcd live show.

billed as lcd soundsystem: the long goodbye, this three-hour farewell performance will be the lengthiest most career-spanning set the band has ever played. those attending can expect the return of long dormant deep cuts to the lcd setlist as well as the first (and last) live performances of a number of never-before-played music spanning lcd soundsystem's decade-defining albums lcd soundsystem, sound of silver, this is happening, the acclaimed 45:33, and more.

lcd soundsystem: the long goodbye will see james murphy and company going out both on top and on their own terms: as the ultimate lcd live performance in both senses of the word, the show will see the lcd core live band of murphy, pat mahoney, nancy whang, al doyle, gavin russom, tyler pope and matt thornley augmented by a choir, string and horn sections plus contributions and collaborations from both one-time-only special guests and many of the musicians with whom the band has worked over the years.

lcd soundsystem: the long goodbye will cap a banner touring cycle that has seen the band play historic headlining sets at the hollywood bowl, pitchfork, V, wireless and more, from their native nyc to korea to the stretch of south american dates currently underway.

the members of lcd soundsystem will be observing a black and white clothing only dress code for the long goodbye. They respectfully request that the audience do the same.

nyc post-rock pioneers liquid liquid will open the show. further details and special guests will be announced as they are confirmed (or maybe they'll just show up that night).

tickets for lcd soundsystem: the long goodbye will be on sale february 11th. [press release]

They also previously promised a February 8th presale. Bowery has announced that tickets will cost $49.50 and $35. UPDATE: Tickets and presale times are on Ticketmaster.

LCD Soundystem posted the following official message today:

good people of earth:

if you would, we'd love it if people all came in white. or black. or black and white. and come ready to have fun, please. and come early, as the festivities will be opened by our favorites, liquid liquid. yes: liquid liquid.

if it's a funeral, let's have the best funeral ever!!!

general onsale february 11th at bowerypresents.com and ticketmaster.com. check lcd website and pitchfork for fan pre-sale mid week, details posted on tuesday 8th.

They hadn't planned on announcing all that until Monday, but then they found out that the show was already announced thanks to posters hanging all over NYC. In reaction to that, James posted a message earlier in the day on the DFA message board:

Austin City Limits

Night fell down on Austin Town and it figured it'd be a busy night. And with The xx and Temper Trap setting the table for LCD Soundsystem, Gogol Bordello, Monsters of Folk, Deadmau5, Matt & Kim, MIA and Muse, Saturday did indeed set it self up to be remembered as ACL 2010's strongest.

Except for the part where MIA screwed things up during her set...

...M.I.A.'s set saw plenty of anticipation on the west end of the fairgrounds, but little payoff: The first song saw didn't even see Mathangi "Maya" Arulpragasam on stage, and, though she came out for the second, that first song worked as a fitting metaphor for her entire mumbled performance.

Here's the thing about performing in festivals, especially on a main stage: Very few people actually see the performers; they rely on the accompanying video screens to share the visual side of the performance. But rather than the performer (or any of her five packing dancers or DJ) , M.I.A.'s screen showed illustrations. M.I.A., meanwhile, spent minimal time in her set's early going on stage, instead opting to interact o the grass in front of her closest fans. An admirable offering, perhaps, but it left the rest of her crowd in the dark, straining their necks to see her dancers or maybe just the neon "Maya" sign that served as her backdrop.

Her vocals weren't helping matters, either. They were already mixed too low, and Maya, for the most part, mumbled her way through the proceedings. Audiences thinned out--only to be pulled back in once the video screens finally--mercifully--showed the performer stalking the stage, and performing her biggest hit, "Paper Planes." [Dallas Observer]

Friday pictures HERE. Lucero HERE. The xx HERE. Mayer Hawthorne HERE, and the rest of the Saturday (10/9) pictures continue, with some setlists, below...

LCD Soundsystem

The day after LCD Soundsystem rocked Wellmont Theater with Sleigh Bells, the pair played at the Philadelphia Naval Cruise Terminal (on 9/24).

Urban Outfitters threw a pre-party outside the venue for all ticket holders. Why? I don't know, but I don't question free drinks and It was a really chill environment for a pre-party with DJ's spinning obscure disco and local retailers/artists selling records, art and t-shirts. The venue itself, the Philly Naval Cruise Terminal, is a really large space which comfortably housed thousands of anxious LCD fans, more than a of which dozen were dressed as the violent pandas from the "Drunk Girls" video.

Sleigh Bells opened with an energetic, albeit predictable set. They sounded great, but I'd personally like to see them get a full band together... there's really no reason for them not to as this point.

LCD Soundsystem took the stage about a half hour after Sleigh Bells finished and opened with "Dance Yrself Clean", which as far as I know had not been played before this current tour that just began on Thursday. Of course by this point, every LCD fan has become wholly familiar with This Is Happening and all its greatness, so new songs like "I Can Change" and "You Wanted a Hit" were greeted with the same enthusiasm as the rest of their catalog. Classics like "Daft Punk is Playing at My House" and "Tribulations" had the entire place going insane and "Losing My Edge" during the encore had everyone (except event staff) bouncing... not sure how that floor didn't collapse for that. All in all, this certainly beat the show at Terminal 5 in May I made it to, and can't wait for Murphy and Co. to announce the inevitable final New York City shows (and the one happening Wednesday doesn't count).

More pictures and the setlist are below. Please note that the actual setlist varies from the one on stage...

Speaking of Angel Orensanz,

Microsoft Advertising Presents LCD Soundsystem

WHEN: Wednesday, September 29, 9:00 pm - 11:00 pm
WHERE: Angel Orensanz Foundation, 172 Norfolk Street

Advertising Week is excited to partner with Microsoft Advertising to bring you THE party of The Week. Fresh off their summer European Festival headlining tour, the grammy nominated band will be coming home for a one night only performance at the Angel Oresanaz Foundation, bringing their high energy mix of electro/punk/disco to the stage. This party is by invite/ticket only.

I think this will be LCD Soundsystem's first NYC show (if private shows count) since the run at Terminal 5, though they just played Wellmont Theater in NJ the other day.

LCD's current tour brings them to Boston tonight (9/28), and also had them in Philly over the weekend (a post about that show coming shortly).

Advertising Week runs through Friday.

"Not quite as good as the music hall show but definitely better than T5. Really glad to see LCD switch up the set list for this one. It's about time" - Anonymous

LCD Soundsystem will spend most of the fall on tour, and that includes a show in Philly tonight (9/24). They kicked it off last night at the Wellmont Theatre in Montclair, NJ. Two videos and the setlist from that show (which Sleigh Bells opened), below...

LCD Soundsystem @ T5 in May (more by Andrew Frisicano)
LCD Soundsystem

"People get into bands, and just keep going because that's what's in front of them, don't they?" Down the line from New York, sounding world-weary and wistful, LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy is reflecting on his decision - announced before the release of a hugely acclaimed third album, This Is Happening - to break up his band when they complete their current world tour. "It's more fun to just go for it knowing that we're done. And then nothing matters. Then we have nothing to lose." [Guardian]
LCD Soundsystem has added another show to their fall/world tour, their first NYC-area gig since the Terminal 5 dates in May. The show is at The Wellmont Theatre on September 23 and tickets go on sale this Friday at noon. No opener has been announced yet but the show is the day before the ten day tour with Sleigh Bells, which is followed by a slot at the Austin City Limits festival and then six dates with Hot Chip.

LCD Soundsystem

LCD Soundsystem still don't have any NYC dates coming up (maybe they're holding out for a big announcement?), but they will be in the area (if you're willing to drive to take a bus/train/plane). The band is spending the rest of August and part of September in Europe before returning to the US for a September 24th show at Naval Cruise Terminal at the Philadelphia Naval Yard. The lineup also includes Sleigh Bells (who just played Governors Isle) and DJs brought by the Making Time party (who are co-presenting it). Tickets are on sale.

LCD and Sleigh Bells play the Virgin Mobile FreeFest the next night (9/25) at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Maryland, and other dates. They're all listed below.

Shows after that include an October 1st show at Hamilton College in Clinton, NY (not sure if it's open to the public) and more across the country, before a return to the UK in November. The first leg of those US dates is with Sleigh Bells, the second is with Hot Chip, who play Central Park SummerStage tonight (8/4) with Hercules & Love Affair and Holy Ghost.

Speaking of Making Time, they'll be hosting a repeat of their 2009 pool party (at an actual pool) at the Flying W Airport and Resort in Medford, NJ on Sunday, August 15th. Deerhunter will again play with DJs, swimming, etc. Tickets are on sale. Deerhunter play a free NYC show at Pier 54 on August 12th.

LCD videos and all tour dates are below...

Pavement @ Sasquatch Fest 2010

The above-pictured Pavement show took place in May 2010 (and wasn't free). In September, Pavement will play Virgin Mobile FreeFest (and it is free)....

"Breaking from traditional festivals, the Virgin Mobile FreeFest presented by Kyocera unveiled its lineup for the award-winning festival, selecting relevant, important, and eclectic headliners to represent this year's free show. This morning, Chairman of the Virgin Group Sir Richard Branson announced the lineup on Virgin Mobile Live, the company's new Internet music stream available on Virgin Mobile websites.

The lineup will include:

Virgin Mobile FreeFest will be held Saturday, September 25 at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Md. Tickets to the 2010 Virgin Mobile FreeFest will be available to the public on www.ticketfly.com at 10 am EST on Saturday, July 24th.

Not bad for a free show (and yet another Pavement show!). More details, with the full set of pictures of Pavement playing this year's Sasquatch Fest, below...

Panda Bear @ Pitchfork Fest Saturday evening (Suckafreemike)

"Dear panda bear: you're playing a music festival, not an art installation." - Etan

"The only explanation for Panda Bear's set at the Pitchfork Music Festival is that it's a practical joke on people who are not on drugs." - lifeinzembla

"Panda Bear was nice but wayyyy too low key for a festival crowd" - Carleton Atwater

"hey i'm watching online and panda bear sounds amazing!!" - Nicole H

"Bet this new Panda Bear stuff sounds great on headphones but it's not really festival music" - Joe Colly

"Panda Bear mixing footage on the screen of a little girl jumping up and down and a Great White Shark eating a cow...weird" - Anthony Adamowicz

"Really Panda Bear?!! No "Comfy in Nautica" or "Bros??" Lame." - Michael Roche

"Panda Bear just put 20000 people to sleep at @pitchfork2010. No joke." - angelabosworth

James Murphy @ Pitchfork (July 17, 2010)
LCD Soundsystem

"Day Two of Pitchfork Music Festival far surpassed my expectations and far surpassed Day One.

Firstly, James Murphy is a rock god. LCD Soundsystem was phenomenal tonight and all my objective journalistic ethics have been shed and all I can do is gush. Taking the stage at 8:30, LCD brought the energy and never let it down, even on tamer songs like "Someone Great" the entirety of Union Park was rapt. Murphy has such a keen knack for dynamics and showmanship, regardless of a concert-goers knowledge of LCD, his concert was a non-stop dance fest. Honestly, this was one of the best live performances I've attended." [Chicago Now]

LCD Soundsystem made everyone else look bad this summer. It all started with their live return at Music Hall of Williamsburg in April, continued through the Sasquatch Festival at the end of May, and most recently happened last night at Pitchfork in Chicago.

But that's it for now. They have less than 10 shows currently scheduled between now and Austin City Limits in October, and all of those shows are mixed between Asia, Australia and Europe. All dates and more pictures from Pitchfork AND Sasquatch (I never got a chance to post them before), below...

Camp Bisco, the hippie festival that like Bonnaroo has been diversifying its lineup, kicked off in Mariaville, NY last night (7/15). LCD Soundsystem (who are on their way to Pitchfork), Caribou (who play Governors Island tonight), and Holy Fuck (who you can catch at Siren on Saturday) were all part of the Thursday night lineup. Earl Greyhound (also playing Siren) and Major Lazer are among those who play today. Saturday has Ween and Girl Talk, and both remaining nights have lots of Disco Biscuits.

Unlike Pitchfork there's no stream, but you can check out the whole live schedule, and some videos from the fest so far, below...
