Haim / Brody Dalle / La Luz @ Sasquatch 6/1/2014
Everyone has their own opinions on what makes for a memorable day of Sasquatch. Some believe that it's a chance of a lifetime headliner. Others think that it's a day filled with warm temps and unceasing sunshine.Sasquatch 2014 came to a close on Sunday (6/1) with sets from Haim, Queens of the Stone Age, tUnE-yArDs, Rodriguez, Parquet Courts, Tycho, Kid Kudi, Elbow, John Grant, Waxahatchee, Brody Dalle, La Luz, Lucius, Bob Mould, Major Lazer, comedians like Hannibal Burress and Kate Berlant, and lots more. Pictures from Sasquatch day 3 are in this post.
But what really makes an unforgettable day at the Gorge's perennial Memorial Day festival is a day where no matter the time, there's always a mind-blowing performance to be found. The final day this year was one of those days.
Starting promptly at 1 p.m., the first few hours of the third day were stacked with some of the best female offerings that Sasquatch had provided yet. Seattle's fun loving punk rock outfit Tacocat jammed out to a jaunty set of tunes and kept the audience rapt with a combination of irreverent humor and a hurricane of bubbles that swirled in front of them. They were immediately followed on the Yeti stage by their Hardly Art label mates La Luz who kept it cool and breezy with an engaging display of their modern surf-rock sound.
The bevy of fantastic women performers continued with another epic one-two punch on the main stage starting with bona fide punk rock ass-kicker Brody Dalle. Tune-Yards kept things thumping shortly thereafter and got the crowd moving with her one of a kind, drum-driven world music inflected sound. Dozens of people burst into a legitimate full-tilt run down the gorge as she kicked into her song "Gangsta." - [The News Tribune]

Disclosure at MHOW in March (more by Jason Bergman)
Browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight's shows. Here are some highlights...
Disclosure, TNGHT, Julio Bashmore @ Central Park Summerstage
This will be a fun one. Dance duo of the (past few) year(s) Disclosure are co-headlining with another hot dance duo (and Kanye collaborators), TNGHT. It seems pretty likely that Disclosure collaborators Jessie Ware and Sam Smith could be showing up for the party too. Another Jessie Ware collaborator, Julio Bashmore, opens the night. Sold out.
Disclosure (DJ), Alex English, "Guests" @ The Wall
After Central Park, Disclosure will keep the party going at The Wall (251 West 30th St), where they'll be DJing and they're promising guests too.
Wiz Khalifa, A$AP Rocky, B.o.B, Trinidad James, Joey Bada$$, Pro Era, Berner, Smoke DZA, Chevy Woods @ Jones Beach
The most exciting part of this bill is A$AP Rocky, whose new album is one of the better rap albums this year. Though if you're going, definitely don't miss Joey Bada$$ either, he's one of the better upcoming MCs at the moment.
Tonight's Gigantour show with Megadeth and Device at Hammerstein Ballroom was canceled, but tomorrow's (8/7) is still on.
Club Girls, The Can't Tells, Gentleman Hall @ Pianos
Brooklyn punky powerpop band The Can't Tells begin their August residency tonight and will be back every Tuesday in the month.
Voli, Leif Vollebekk @ Pianos
There's a separate early show at Pianos, too, where you can catch talented Canadian singer-songwriter Leif Vollebekk. He's on at 7 PM.
Designer, BBIGPIGG, Lukie, Husbandry @ Dead By Audio
Like a little dissonance? Boston's noisy, arty Designer lay down some serious skronk on their new Kalvin & Kline EP.
Little Green Cars, James Bay @ Studio at Webster Hall
This Dublin folk rock quintet are signed to the same label as Mumford & Sons (Glassnote) and sound more than a little like them, too.
For all of tonight's shows, and tomorrow's, check out our full NYC show calendar.
For laughs, check out the NYC Comedy calendar too.

They must not have had a UK top 20 single or album by 11 November 2012.The nomination/voting panel is made up of " newspaper and magazine editors and critics, producers and presenters from music radio and televison, website editors and bloggers" if you were wondering. Daughter at The Slipper Room, 10/17/2012
Glassnote Records, home to Mumford & Sons and Phoenix among others, showcased some of their newest signees at a CMJ showcase on 10/17 at snazzy, newly-renovated Lower East Side club The Slipper Room. Daughter, who've been through NYC before and will release their debut album in early 2013, were headliners but the buzz came from Dublin, Ireland's Little Green Cars who seem to be very much in the Mumford way of radio-friendly folk (but who also aren't afraid to cover "It's a Long Way to Tipperary."
Sandwiched in between those two was Seattle's Robert DeLong who makes cheery electronic pop and who is currently on tour with The Faint. All tour dates for him and Daughter are below along with more pics from the Glassnote CMJ showcase.
