As mentioned, Depeche Mode were in NYC yesterday to appear on The Late Show with David Letterman and you can watch them performing new single "Heaven" (from Delta Machine, out 3/26) below. Additionally, the band stuck around to play the "Live on Letterman" webcast series. The band's nine-song set gave a first listen to a few Delta Machine cuts, plus old favorites "Walking in My Shoes," "Barrel of a Gun," "Personal Jesus" and "Enjoy the Silence." You can watch the whole thing below.
Meanwhile, the synthpop legends will be in Austin for SXSW this week and have announced their North American tour with two stops in the NYC area in September.

Chris Cornell at Bowery Ballroom - 11/12/12

With the pics we just posted of Pearl Jam side project RNDM, and all of the Soundgarden stuff going on in NYC this week, it's starting to feel a lot like early '90s Seattle around here. Soundgarden began their unofficial NYC week with a Live on Letterman concert at the Ed Sullivan Theater, which was webcasted live and can be watched in full below. Most of their 10-song set came from their new album, King Animal, which is out today (11/13) and can be listened to on Spotify, but they also included earlier cuts, "Beyond the Wheel," "Incessant Mace," and "Fell on Black Days." The band also performed King Animal single, "Been Away Too Long," on the Late Show with David Letterman. You can watch the video of that below too.
After the Letterman stuff went down, Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell made his way over to Bowery Ballroom for a solo show, which doubled as a Hurricane Sandy Relief benefit. It was an acoustic show, but the members of Soundgarden eventually showed up to join Chris for a full band set of Soundgarden songs. They played "Fell On Black Days," "Black Saturday," "Blow Up the Outside World," "Halfway There," "Black Hole Sun," and "Outshined." Pictures from the show are in this post, and a video from Chris' solo set is below.
It all continues tonight (11/13), when Soundgarden play their first of three intimate North American shows at NYC's Irving Plaza. That show is long sold out, but you can also catch the band when their 2013 tour brings them to Hammerstein Ballroom on January 22 and 23. Tickets for those shows go on AmEx/King Animal presale Wednesday (11/14) at 10 AM with a general on-sale starting Friday (11/16) at noon. Fan Club presale began on Monday (11/12).

Soundgarden in Atlantic City in 2011 (more by Dana (distortion) Yavin)

As mentioned, Soundgarden are playing three intimate North American shows this year, including one in NYC on November 13 at Irving Plaza. Presale tickets for that show go on sale today (11/8) at noon. You need a password (we think it might be "SPOONMAN"). General on-sale starts Friday (11/9) at noon.
The day before that show, Soundgarden will perform for 'Live on Letterman' at Ed Sullivan Theater (11/12) at 8 PM. That performance, which is about 45 minutes long as opposed to the one or two songs they'll perform on The Late Show with David Letterman that same night, will air live on CBS.com and VEVO. We're also giving away two pair of tickets to attend the show. More details on that below.
Soundgarden will release King Animal on November 13, but you can stream the entire thing now ahead of its release date on iTunes. The band also performed on Later... with Jools Holland on Tuesday (11/6). They played King Animal single "Been Away Too Long," plus the old favorite, "Rusty Cage." You can watch videos of both performances below.

Ryan Adams recently began his December solo tour which brought him to NYC last night (12/5) to perform a "Live on Letterman" taping at Ed Sullivan Theater. You can watch the performance in full below.
Before he leaves New York, he'll play a sold out show tonight (12/6) at Carnegie Hall with Jessica Lea Mayfield.
Ryan's got a number of other North American dates scheduled for January and February too, though nothing else in NYC at the moment. All dates and Letterman video below...

Beady Eye @ Webster Hall

"...in the Fall of 2009 the Oasis brothers, Noel and Liam Gallagher, get into a heated argument, which may or may not have involved the destruction of one or more musical instruments, Noel quits the band, Liam and the other band members decide to carry on. Fast forward to the spring of 2011 when what essentially boils down to Oasis minus Noel Gallagher drop their debut album, Different Gear, Still Speeding, under the new moniker Beady Eye." [Live4Ever]Beady Eye, who are sort of Oasis without Noel, played their first public NYC show at Webster Hall on Thursday (6/23). I say "public" because one day earlier they also played a full set at the Ed Sullivan Theater as part of the "Live from Leterman" series which you can watch in its entirety below.
The Webster show was opened by New York locals The Dig and is pictured in this post. Beady Eye played their entire debut Different Gear, Still Speeding, including the iTunes bonus track "Man of Misery." They also covered the World of Twist song "Sons of the Stage" in the encore.
Full Webster setlist, more pictures from the show and the Letterman video, below...

WHAT. A. SHOW.That review refers to the show My Morning Jacket played Friday night in Portland, Maine. The show marked the reopening of Portland's State Theatre, courtesy of Bowery Presents who will also host the band at Terminal 5 in NYC for five nights starting tonight. If I could have made it to any of the T5 shows (which I can't) it would have been TFF so I was so happy they played a bunch of tunes from that on Friday. They Ran had an incredible outro which some wailing falsetto. I've never been much of a Butch Cassidy fan, but this live version made me appreciate it so much more (the sounds Tommy was getting out of his bass were incredible). I was really hoping for a Dondante and it was great to hear this song after a few shows without it.
The encore was a thing of perfection for me, but hell the whole show was perfect! Phone Went West is a great song to "end" the show on before a rippin' One Big Holiday. I was right in front of Carl and got blasted with confetti during OBH, a great touch.
There was a point during the encore when I realized how wonderful my life was as I stood holding my woman watching my favorite band in the world play the best setlist I've ever seen.
